Being from the valley I have fond childhood memories of our local chip truck. No more.

In what constitutes a clear trampling of parental rights, British Columbia recently authorized the provision of “safer supply” fentanyl to youth across the province, regardless if parents are informed of, or agree to, this measure.

If you have kids or grandkids with various iPads or iPhones, you probably know the almost daily frustration of “Mo-o-o-o-o-ommmm, have you seen my iPhone?” The good news is that Apple’s security features make them easy to find and basically worthless (except for certain parts) if they’re stolen.
Longtime New Democratic Party leader Ed Broadbent has died at 87.
The Broadbent Institute announced his death in a statement Thursday afternoon.

The RCMP has launched an investigation into whether a knife attack last month in a Saguenay restaurant that left several employees injured was linked to terrorism.
On Dec. 20, La Belle et La Bœuf restaurant in Saguenay was the scene of an attack that ended with one employee, Ahmed May, under arrest and facing a series of charges including three counts of attempted murder.
Took long enough.

The USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative’s latest list of television’s most inclusive shows reveals that a majority of those shows are no longer on the air or have not been renewed.
Gee, I can’t imagine why.

Canada’s defence chief received legal advice from the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) in 2021 that there was no evidence supporting a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for all members and that imposing one would be “fraught with legal risk,” an internal document obtained by The Epoch Times shows.
The document, issued on Feb. 2, 2021, by the JAG’s office, the military’s legal department, also cites guidelines by a physicians’ legal defence organization that warns against obtaining consent to administer vaccines under “compulsion” by an employer or others.

Car rental giant Hertz is selling 20,000 EVs – a third of its electric fleet – due to a lack of demand and expensive repair costs.
The proceeds from those sales will be used to reinvest in gas cars, the company said in its most recent filings.
Hertz’s electric fleet is mostly Teslas but also features Chevrolet Bolts and Polestars.

Flavio Volpe, head of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, believes the recent electric vehicle targets set out by Canada’s environment minister also carried this pointed message to Canada’s domestic auto industry: “Let them eat cake.”
Volpe says he has come to this conclusion because he believes those goals, which include a national target of 100 per cent zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035, cannot be met.

Israel’s plan to “destroy” Gaza comes from “the highest level of state”, the UN’s top court has heard.
The claims were made by South African lawyers as it presented its case accusing Israel of genocide at the International Court of Justice.
South Africa also called on the court to order Israel to cease military operations in Gaza.
Israel – which will present its defence on Friday – has vehemently rejected the accusations as “baseless”.
Destroy Gaza? Sounds like a good idea.

Through more than eight years since Justin Trudeau named his first Liberal cabinet on Nov. 4, 2015, Canada’s economic and social trajectory has been steadily downward, a trend that was entirely predictable. I can say this … because I predicted it.
They should send him out in public without his security guards.

Toronto police are banning protests, rallies and demonstrations on an Avenue Road highway overpass following a series of high-profile incidents, police Chief Myron Demkiw says.
“People can expect to be arrested, if necessary,” Demkiw said during a Toronto Police Services Board meeting on Thursday.
“Activities that take place on the Avenue Road overpass in the surrounding areas will be investigated with a criminal lens.”
This is an interesting choice of photo.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but here's what the imagery says to me – and I think it's intentional.
Normally, any picture of a meeting that Trudeau has, whether it's with a municipal, provincial, or foreign figure, it almost… https://t.co/8iM4EYIemX

Heading into a new year, Canadians aren’t feeling overly optimistic about the direction the country is heading, with the number of voters indicating negative views about the federal government’s performance at the highest in a decade, national tracking from Nanos Research shows.
“Very few Canadians would give the federal government a very good score at this particular point in time,” said Nanos Research founder Nik Nanos(opens in a new tab) in the latest episode of CTV News Trend Line.

Liberal members of Parliament are divided about the position Canada should take on South Africa’s push to have Israel prosecuted for genocide for its war in Gaza, as the Trudeau government stays mum.
The International Court of Justice will start hearing a case Thursday in which South Africa argues that Israel’s widespread bombardment of Gaza and siege on the Palestinians living there “are genocidal in character.”
I have long maintained that “Official Support” for Israel by the LPC was an inch deep.
