The West is abandoning Israel

Is the West giving up on Israel? Given the scale and the barbarism of the 7 October pogrom, you might have expected more people to rally to Israel’s side. Instead, we have seen vast anti-Israel marches, an explosion in anti-Semitism and a widespread apologism for Hamas’s terror. Many among the establishment, media and political left seem to revel in chastising Israel as it seeks to defend itself from terrorism. What does this lack of solidarity say to people in Israel?

Israel releases footage of drone exploring ‘huge 55m-long Hamas tunnel under al-Shifa hospital’ – hours after troops said they discovered at least 35 tunnel shafts hiding weapons under more affluent areas of Gaza City

Israel’s Defence Forces have released shocking footage tonight revealing what it claims is a huge Hamas tunnel buried deep below the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

The military, who have been carrying out an operation at the medical complex over the last week, said it had found a 55-metre-long passage 10-metres below the ground.

Officials said it had discovered a deep staircase equipped with ‘various defence mechanisms’ including a blast-proof door with a firing hole claiming the terror group were using the entrance to block out Israeli forces.

It’s Simple Why No Arab Countries Are Taking Palestinian Refugees. They Know Better.

When Israel began conducting airstrikes in Gaza, everyone knew there was going to be displacement. The military operation comes after Hamas invaded Israel on October 7, murdering 1,200-1,400 civilians in a coordinated assault involving well over 1,000 terrorists. The level of barbarity was unprecedented, leading to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu forming a unity government that aims to destroy Hamas. On October 28, the ground invasion began, leading to scores of Palestinians attempting to make their way south to safety. Hamas shot some who tried to flee.

Snoop Dogg isn’t the only one giving up weed

Gen Z is also turning away from the drug

Last Friday, the rapper Snoop Dogg made a grave announcement. “After much consideration and conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke,” the rapper posted on social media. “Please respect my privacy at this time.” The terse seriousness of the statement could well be tongue-in-cheek: perhaps Snoop, already a serial entrepreneur in all things weed-related, is about to launch a smoke-free product, like a marijuana vape or edible.

Are the Conservatives at risk of winning too many seats?

The polls continue to worsen for Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party. Recent numbers and projections from Abacus Data indicate that their last electoral stronghold in Quebec may be beginning to weaken, which could turn what is already looking like a very challenging electoral environment for the prime minister into a disaster.

The Liberals have faced such routs before. In 1930, 1958, 1984 and 2011 the Liberal party was on the receiving end of an electoral shellacking the likes of which political parties don’t always survive. Remarkably, the Grits returned to power with aplomb in each circumstance.

Barbara Kay: How Quebec turned into a hotbed of antisemitism

On Sunday night, Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante stated the obvious: “At this moment, the Jewish community is under attack in Montreal.”

Bullets had been fired at two Jewish religious school doors in densely Jewish neighbourhoods last week (one school on two separate occasions), following attempted firebombings at a Jewish community centre and synagogue in the West Island. Jewish-owned businesses have been vandalized, and their owners targeted with hate on social media and in action.

Canada criminalized ‘condoning, denying or downplaying’ the Holocaust: is it working?

OTTAWA – Canadian Jewish organizations are calling on the Liberal government to remove what they see as barriers to enforcing a relatively new Criminal Code provision against Holocaust denialism amid a rise in antisemitism.

Shimon Koffler Fogel, CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, said his organization had been asking the Liberals to criminalize Holocaust denialism, noting there are similar laws in France and Germany.

I doubt Trudeau will be keen on this.

Martyr of the Cold War

John F. Kennedy was murdered by a Communist in an age of superpower tensions—but 60 years later, a counterfactual mythology continues to mislead Americans.

Six decades have passed since President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas by rifle shots fired by Lee Harvey Oswald, a onetime defector to the Soviet Union, self-described Marxist, and admirer of Fidel Castro, but also a “nut” and a “loser,” according to some who knew him. The event stunned the nation and disrupted complacent assumptions about the stability of the American order. The assassin, no matter his purposes, delivered a blow to the American spirit with disorienting effects that linger today.

The ‘Suicidal Mania’ of American CEOs

Dozens of businessmen paid homage to Xi Jinping last week.

They gave a standing ovation to the current leader of what may be the most murderous political organization in world history. Dozens of American business leaders, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Blackstone’s Stephen Schwarzman, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Boeing CEO Stan Deal, BlackRock’s Larry Fink, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, Bridgewater’s Ray Dalio, FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, and Visa executive Ryan McInerney, were on hand in San Francisco to pay homage to Xi Jinping, president of China and general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), at a dinner in San Francisco hosted by the U.S.-China Business Council and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. Xi had earlier met with President Joe Biden, who later described their talks as “some of the most constructive and productive we’ve had.” At the dinner, Biden Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told the American business leaders: “All of you here this evening remain keenly interested to do business in China, and to find ways to advance our bilateral economic relationship.” Raimondo said she knew this “because half of you have come to see me to tell me that.” We are witnessing part II of what the great James Burnham called “the suicidal mania of American business.”
