OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an impassioned appeal Wednesday for calm among Canadians who hold differing views about what’s going on in the Middle East, and condemned the rise of incidents of hate speech and violence in Canada.

In a week that saw firebombings of two Montreal Jewish institutions, Trudeau spoke as he entered a Liberal caucus meeting Wednesday, saying: “Everything we’re seeing is dividing people right across the globe. And within our own country, we’re seeing right now a rise in antisemitism that is terrifying.”

You won’t be disappointed, Junior the vote whore goes on to decry the “rise” of Islamophobia because we all know mosques and halal food joints are being burned to the ground as we speak across Canada. Of course the facts show otherwise.

Toronto police say over 130% rise in hate-related calls since Israel-Gaza war

With the rise in anti-Semitism and Islamophobia since the conflict broke out in Israel and Gaza, the City of Toronto and Toronto Police Service are reiterating their commitment to an inclusive city for everyone, especially around places of worship.

It comes as there has been a reported 132 per cent increase in hate-related calls to Toronto police. Since October 7, there have been 14 hate crimes reported, 12 of which were anti-Semitic and two were Islamophobic. They include incidents of mischief, uttering death threats and criminal harassment.

House votes to censure Rashida Tlaib over her criticism of Israel

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted late on Tuesday to censure the Democratic representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan – the only Palestinian American in Congress – in an extraordinary rebuke of her rhetoric about the Israel-Hamas war.

The 234-188 tally came after enough Democrats joined with Republicans to censure Tlaib, a punishment one step below expulsion from the House. The three-term congresswoman has long been a target of criticism for her views on the decades-long conflict in the Middle East.

Pierre Poilievre is winning over Canadians. Why isn’t Justin Trudeau fighting back?

Justin Trudeau and his Liberals have been increasingly using their public announcements to draw a sharp line between themselves and the Conservatives.

Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault did it on Tuesday when he was responding to some criticism from the environmental commissioner, saying at least Liberals have a climate plan when others (that’s the Conservatives) do not.

He’s a not very bright habitual liar deserving of ridicule and contempt.

‘Hardly any taboos left’: anti-Semitism resurges in Germany

Levi Salomon has been documenting anti-Semitic slogans and acts at rallies in Berlin for 25 years, but never had he experienced such virulent expressions of hate against Jews in post-war Germany until October 7.

On that Sabbath day, Hamas gunmen stormed across the border into Israel, killing 1,400 people, mostly civilians, in their homes, on the streets and at a rave party.

The most deadly attack since the founding of Israel had led it to declare war on Hamas, with Israeli forces heavily bombarding Gaza before sending in ground troops to destroy the Islamist movement. The Hamas-run health ministry said more than 10,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the territory.

Trudeau government’s climate plan for 2030 can’t be trusted, environment commissioner says

OTTAWA — The Liberal government’s seminal accountability plan to hit Canada’s climate target for 2030 is actually an unreliable blueprint that can’t be trusted, the federal environment commissioner concluded.

In a new report tabled Tuesday in Parliament, Environment and Sustainable Development Commissioner Jerry DeMarco found the Trudeau government’s plan to aggressively slash greenhouse gas emissions that caused the climate crisis is full of holes.

The real goals were to destroy the Oil & Gas industry and de-industrialize the Canadian economy.

The plan has succeeded. Canada’s economy is a wreck.

Its citizens grow ever more poor and their voices weaker in a flood tide of society destroying mass immigration.

UK: More than a third of victims say they would not report a crime to the police again

Victims are losing trust in the criminal justice system, as more than a third say they would not report a crime to the police again because of their experience, research by the victims’ commissioner will reveal on Wednesday.

Police inaction, lack of information about the progress of cases and lengthy court delays contributed to 34 per cent of victims saying they would not report their crime to police again.

Only 44 per cent of the 428 victims who participated in the research said they would report their offence to the police if it was repeated. Just over a fifth (22 per cent) did not express a view.

San Francisco worker posts terrifying walk past drug-addled homeless people passed out on the sidewalk

The terrifying reality of life on San Francisco’s drug-ravaged streets has been laid bare by one life-long resident who filmed her walk to work through scenes that have made the city an international symbol for squalor and despair.

Tiktoker ‘Freqmeek’ captured the pre-dawn horror as she gingerly picked her way through dozens of desperate addicts in the city’s Tenderloin district.

Some are hunched against the cold while others are too intoxicated to care as cars and buses try to steer a path through unconscious addicts sprawled across the road for hundreds of yards.

Jesse Kline: Footage of Hamas barbarism shows why ceasefire is not an option

TORONTO — As a comment-section editor, I spent more time editing and fact-checking opinion columns than consuming news in the immediate aftermath of Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and constantly found myself coming across claims that seemed far-fetched.

Young women raped next to their friends’ dead bodies? That can’t possibly be true. But it was.

Infant babies mutilated and killed in cold blood? Holy hell.

National security is at risk if RCMP’s federal policing problems aren’t fixed, committee warns

The federal government urgently needs to change how the RCMP’s federal policing wing functions or risk seeing national security files fall through the cracks, says a special intelligence and security committee.

“National security is at risk. The security of Canadians is at risk.” said Liberal MP David McGuinty, chair of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians.

“What’s at risk is missing something.”
