This time last year, the media buzz about the labour market was over The Great Resignation, a bigger phenomenon in the United States but occurring here too, as workers took advantage of record-high job vacancy rates to abandon suboptimal jobs for better ones.

This year there’s an emerging made-in-Canada phenomenon that has barely generated a whisper, let alone a buzz: wage slaves from abroad. It’s a result of public policy.

The idea of owning workers seems like an abomination from another time and place. In Canada, in 2023, it’s difficult to comprehend how any worker could be beholden to a single employer.

Hamas Must Be Brought to Its Knees

Hamas’s terrorist invasion of Israel on Oct. 7 left unspeakable scenes in its wake. The elderly murdered or abducted, children stolen, dead bodies desecrated, the murder of 260 young people at an Israeli rave for peace and the kidnapping of dozens more. Witnesses report that women were raped beside the bodies of their friends and then killed in turn.

Eighty years ago, such scenes were not uncommon at the edge of death pits, during ghetto liquidations and at the threshold of the gas chambers. And here we are in 2023, seeing them again, only this time in Israel.

Army: Now that you ask, we really don’t know where all of our weapons are

It’s well known that the United States Army and Marines maintain a significant stockpile of used, damaged, or older models of weapons. Some are damaged and waiting to be safely salvaged, but many of them are still functional, requiring a bit of cleaning or maintenance. Some may be perfectly fine, but they’ve been replaced by newer models. Now that our allies in Israel are rushing to outfit an expanded military force to take on Hamas and their civilians are looking for hardware also, someone finally thought to ask the army about those stockpiles and how we could ship out the usable equipment to help our friends. But they answer they received from Army Undersecretary Gabe Camarillo on Tuesday basically amounted to, ‘Weapons? Did you say weapons? Let’s see… where did we put those…’

Hamas Militants Had Detailed Maps of Israeli Towns, Military Bases and Infiltration Routes

TEL AVIV—Hamas militants who flooded into southern Israel from Gaza last weekend carried detailed maps of the towns and military bases that they targeted. Some also carried tactical guides identifying weak spots on Israeli army armored vehicles.

The documents, written in Arabic, were recovered from the sites of attacks or bodies of dead Hamas fighters by Israeli civilians, soldiers and emergency personnel and seen by The Wall Street Journal. Authorities are examining the trove, Israeli officials said.

Taken together, the documents indicate that Hamas set out from the start to target not just military installations, but to attack civilian population centers and to take hostages, and they offer evidence of the scale of Hamas’s intelligence-gathering and the degree of planning for the assault.

The Western left’s response to Hamas’s atrocities has exposed a virulent new form of anti-Semitism.

The assault on southern Israel last weekend was more than an atrocity. This callous and systematic murder of civilians was nothing less than a 21st-century version of a barbaric pogrom. The videos recorded by Hamas operatives as they slaughtered people serve as a frightening testimony to human depravity. They more than match the numerous beheading videos that glorified the barbarism of Islamic State and other terrorist organisations in recent decades.

When Canadian Troops Booed Their Prime Minister

It doesn’t often happen that soldiers boo their political leaders. For one thing it is beyond disrespectful for military members to show contempt in public toward those to whom they are subordinate in a liberal democracy. Even if troops dislike a particular politician, or disdain politicians in general, it is a gross breach of discipline to show it publicly.

But that is what happened to William Lyon Mackenzie King during the Second World War. It’s a dubious distinction.

What the ‘Hamas Holocaust’ Reveals About the West’s Corruption

A car full of Israeli civilians tried to escape Kibbutz Be’eri, which was under Hamas attack. Hamas burned them alive. Israeli soldiers found their charred corpses inside the car; you can see it if you click here, which I encourage to do only so you will understand that what Hamas did was literally a holocaust—a burnt offering to whatever demonic god they worship.

Maybe the only good thing to emerge so far from this unspeakable horror is that the moral bankruptcy of the progressive Left has been unmasked. On many college campuses, including the Ivy League, protesters have gathered to mark with good cheer the Hamas holocaust. Black Lives Matter chapters have issued statements of solidarity with the killers of babies and others. Progressive politicians across the West have sounded their support for Hamas. Exuberant Muslim mobs in Western capitals have declared their enthusiasm for the slaughter.

‘Unconditional Surrender’ Is Emerging as Israel’s War Aim Against Hamas

Even at this early stage in the war, armchair advisers and some allies are seeking to tie Israel’s hands in Gaza. Most Israelis are ignoring such calls, envisioning a “day after” when Hamas is no more and Gaza disarmed.

Initial air attacks have flattened high-rise buildings in the district and killed some of the leaders of Hamas. Hundreds of civilians have also perished, raising concerns among allies. America and Egypt are reportedly considering a humanitarian corridor that would allow noncombatants to leave the strip.

Push them into the sea.

Any Canadian Muslims who voted for Justin Trudeau should be shamed, says a longtime imam in Victoria who on Wednesday called Israel “a terrorist, illegal, occupying, settler, murdering, apartheid state.”

Younos Kathrada, head of Muslim Youth of Victoria, this week used his public Facebook platform to attack “sellout imams” who have stood ”front and centre” in photos with Trudeau. One of Kathrada’s followers comments: “May Allah give him (Trudeau) what he deserves.”
