Ottawa extending amnesty for ‘assault-style’ firearms again, until October 2025

OTTAWA – The federal Liberal government says it will extend an amnesty order on guns it prohibited in the wake of the deadly 2020 Nova Scotia shooting rampage for an extra two years.

Public Safety Canada quietly posted the extension on its website about the yet-to-be-developed firearms buyback program, saying the amnesty period that was set to expire at the end of the month will remain in place until Oct. 30, 2025.

Why should British Jews take their skullcaps off?

I was proud when my son, then aged three, wore his kippa (Jewish skullcap) for the first time. We placed the kippa on his head and told him what it meant to be a Jew. ‘Mazel tov!’ we said as we hugged each other, prayed, and sung. We wondered hopefully what he might become – a rabbi, a doctor, an accountant – and we laughed and sung some more. A blessing on your head, mazel tov, mazel tov!

He’s now 17, and for the first time in his life was asked this week to cover his kippa up. An email from his school in London suggested that, in light of Hamas’s attack on Israel and the backlash in Britain, it might be wise not to wear it in public.

This is not an uncommon occurrence, Jews have been warned about “displays of faith” in France, Germany and Sweden and elsewhere at various times over the last few years, really it’s anywhere a significant Muslim population exists.

WATCH: ‘Free Palestine‘ Rally in Dearborn, Michigan, Cheers Hamas

Note that the GTA has a larger Muslim population than Dearborn now. Soon they will exercise their muscle in the streets with impunity as they do in European cities. Be sure to thank our politicians for importing this.

Things to come.

Terry Glavin: Hamas supporters enjoy safe haven and left-wing backing in Canada

“To see what is in front of one’s nose,” the British literary giant George Orwell wrote in 1946, “needs a constant struggle.” Averse as Justin Trudeau’s Canada has become to any serious moral inquiry or anything like intellectual struggle, we shouldn’t be surprised that it is only now that a bloodcurdling sociopathology that has been incubating under Canadian noses all along is at last coming to public notice.

French politicians put under police protection as antisemitism increases

French police are guarding the homes of leading MPs as fears grow of antisemitic violence triggered by Israel’s war with Hamas.

Police have said they are protecting National Assembly President Yaël Braun-Pivet and MP Meyer Habib.

France’s interior minister said 100 antisemitic acts had been recorded since Saturday.

In a separate move, Germany’s chancellor declared “zero tolerance” for antisemitism.

He told parliament a pro-Palestinian group that had celebrated the murders of Israeli civilians on Saturday would be banned.

John Ivison: The leaders of the free world have no time left for unserious Canada

On the eve of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Mark Norman, the former vice-chief of defence, made a prediction that sounded overblown at the time.

“I really think the Americans are going to start ignoring us because they don’t think we are credible or reliable. They are not even putting pressure on us anymore,” he said in a January 2022 National Post interview, based on his conversations with contacts in Washington.

Ortis Trial: Toronto businessman accused in U.S. of helping Iran’s regime was also investigated in Canada

A Toronto businessman wanted in the United States on felony charges for allegedly helping Iran’s regime evade sanctions was also on the radar of Canadian law enforcement for more than 15 years.

Salim Henareh, who now markets himself online as the owner of a private mortgage company in Toronto, has been under suspicion for money laundering since at least 2007, according to new court documents.

The documents show Canada and its partner nations in the Five Eyes intelligence alliance believed Henareh’s businesses were central to a multi-billion dollar international money laundering network.

Report: Hamas calls for global Jihad, invasion of Israel, attack Jews worldwide on Oct. 13

A leader and founding member of Hamas, Khalid Mashal, reportedly called for a global Jihad on Tuesday, asking Muslims around the world to target the people of Israel on Friday, Oct. 13.

Video of Mashal’s reported call to violence was posted on YouTube and remains up on the platform as of Wednesday at 10 a.m.

According to a translation and analysis of the video by author Brother Rachid, Mashal referred to his proposed day of anger as “the Friday of Al-Aqsa flood,” which will “send a message of rage to Zionists and to America.”

Canada Increasingly Being Left Behind on Allies’ Joint Actions

The latest crisis to shake the planet, Hamas’s terrorist attack against Israel last weekend, has provided one more indication that Canada is increasingly being left out of its allies’ joint actions.

In a joint statement following the attack, leaders of a subgroup of five of the G7 countries, known as the Quint, expressed their “steadfast and united support to the State of Israel” and their “unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its appalling acts of terrorism.” The signatories included the United States, the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.

Egypt warned Israel days before Hamas struck, US committee chairman says

Israel was warned by Egypt of potential violence three days before Hamas’ deadly cross-border raid, a US congressional panel chairman has said.

House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee head Michael McCaul told reporters of the alleged warning.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu described the reports as “absolutely false”.

Israeli intelligence services are under scrutiny for their failure to prevent the deadliest attack by Palestinian militants in Israel’s 75-year history.

Nazi in Parliament had major impact on Canada’s international reputation: Nanos poll

Nearly one in two Canadians say the recent errant honouring of a 98-year-old Nazi veteran in Parliament has had a major impact on Canada’s reputation abroad, while one third think Canada is providing too much financial support to Ukraine, recent Nanos polling finds.

Recent polling by Nanos Research, commissioned by CTV News to gauge Canadians’ views on the level of impact the widely-condemned Yaroslav Hunka invitation by former speaker Anthony Rota has had, indicates that 48 per cent of respondents felt it had a “major impact.”

Israel directs public hospitals not to treat Hamas terrorists

Health Minister Moshe Arbel issued a directive to the public health system in Israel to refuse to treat captured terrorists on Wednesday afternoon.

“Since the beginning of the fighting, the issue of treating the damned and despicable Hamas terrorists within the public hospitals has piled up a tremendous difficulty on the health system,” wrote Arbel.
