Private jet service for rich dog owners condemned by climate campaigners

Environmentalists have condemned a “ludicrous” private jet service that transports wealthy people’s dogs, which this week ran its first flight from Dubai to London.

For £8,166, one way, customers were able to sit with their dogs on their laps and sip champagne as they travelled from Al Maktoum international airport to Farnborough in a Gulfstream IV-SP jet.

The company, K9 Jets, which is run by a husband-and-wife couple from Birmingham, already operates services to New Jersey, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Paris and Lisbon.

I’m not calling for the business to be shut down, I’m fine with it. I wish to know the eco-hypocrites who use it.

Morgan’s email was obtained by a whistleblower within the IRS, Joseph Ziegler, who has testified in Congress that the government worked to slow down the investigation into Joe Biden’s 52-year-old son.

Ontario man eats 50 Carolina Reaper peppers in record time

Before trying to set a Guinness World Record by eating 50 of the hottest chile peppers on the planet, Mike Jack set up a picture frame featuring two photos atop a table at a brewery in London, Ontario. One was of Terry Fox, the Canadian activist who in 1980 ran more than 3,300 miles on an artificial leg to raise money for cancer research. The other was of Thich Quang Duc, the Buddhist monk who doused himself in gasoline and set himself ablaze to protest the Vietnamese government’s alleged persecution of Buddhists.

That is amazing.

Student violence on teachers is a growing concern. What can be done?

Even as Canada’s teacher shortage continues to impact schools across the country, educators and those that represent them say one of the factors causing departures from the profession is the abuse or violence some face in classrooms.

The numbers vary from province to territory, as does the severity of the incidents reported. The broader trend, according to education professionals, is growing fear and exhaustion.

The answer is fairly simple for the TDSB, restore the Zero Tolerance policy abandoned because it actually worked.

Canada Nazi row puts spotlight on Ukraine’s WWII past

When Canada’s parliament praised a Ukrainian war veteran who fought with Nazi Germany, a renewed spotlight was put on a controversial part of Ukraine’s history and its memorialisation in Canada.

Yaroslav Hunka, the Ukrainian veteran who was applauded in parliament this week, served with a Nazi unit called the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS – also known as the Galicia Division – that was formed in 1943.

His appearance was criticised by Jewish groups and other parliamentarians alike. MP Anthony Rota, who invited him, has since resigned as the Speaker of the House of Commons, saying he deeply regretted the mistake.

I don’t know Yaroslav Hunka personally, but I know… or knew… many like him. Most of them are dead, now. I know their stories. And I know where their bodies are buried.

Mr Hunka is a Canadian citizen, who lives near North Bay, Ontario. More specifically, he is a Ukrainian-Canadian, born 98 years ago in what was then a part of Poland known to some as “Galicia”, but to its natives as Ukraine.

Canada is pouring billions of dollars into the electric vehicle industry. Will it pay off?

Standing before a backdrop that declared Quebec’s commitment to a clean economy, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier François Legault outlined the details of what they both described as a “historic” project.

The numbers are eye popping. A new manufacturing facility to be built by Northvolt, a Swedish battery giant, will occupy 170 hectares — an area the size of more than 300 football fields — on Montreal’s South Shore, in a parcel of land spanning two communities.

Will it pay off? Not likely but the CBC says it will.
