Was the Canadian parliament wrong to applaud Yaroslav Hunka?

The truth about the 98-year-old Ukrainian former Nazi is complicated

Justin Trudeau’s government has been forced to apologise to Canadian Jewish organisations, after House Speaker Anthony Rota honoured a 98-year-old war veteran — who then turned out to have fought under the Nazis.

The incident occurred following a visit to the Canadian government by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Rota called out Yaroslav Hunka, a veteran sitting in the gallery, prompting a round of applause. Then someone dug up a blog post Hunka wrote in 2011 describing his wartime service — under Hitler.

The ADL declared the Azov Battalion deradicalized? Who knew!

Between a rock and a hard place is the best description of available choices in that time and place.

A catastrophic Washington Post poll so awful for Biden that editors buried it.

The writing’s on the wall for Sleepy Joe Biden.

Even the Washington Post knows his re-election chances are dropping like the Hindenburg, loath though they are to admit it.

This weekend, a poll by the Lefty DC newspaper showed Donald Trump to be absolutely spanking the current commander in chief by 10 points, 52 percent to 42 percent among registered voters, should they face off in 2024.

Senior Liberals believe Anthony Rota should step aside, Radio-Canada sources say

Multiple Liberal cabinet ministers say they believe Anthony Rota’s days as House of Commons Speaker are numbered, Radio-Canada has learned.

That Rota is still in the job causes discomfort in the Liberal caucus, sources told Radio-Canada, after he invited a Ukrainian veteran who fought in a Nazi unit to watch Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s speech to Parliament on Friday.

The opposition parties could force a vote on a motion in the House of Commons calling for the Speaker to step down. If that happens, several influential members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet told Radio-Canada they can’t imagine a scenario where Liberal MPs would vote to save Rota’s skin.

Gotta protect Junior.

CBC’s real estate portfolio valued at over $400M: documents

The CBC owns nearly half a billion dollars in real estate holdings, according to recently released documents, with more than two-thirds of the value comprised of its expansive downtown Toronto broadcasting centre.

A response to a May 2023 order paper question submitted by Conservative MP Adam Chambers about the government-owned broadcaster lists 12 corporation-owned properties across the country, a portfolio worth $444,414,469.

You could solve the homeless crisis with all that real estate.

The ridiculous Liberals have shamed Canada by honouring a Nazi in Parliament

Liberals, Socialists and other progressives often claim that Conservatives are in bed with the far right and Nazis. This repulsive term is sometimes used to describe Conservatives themselves.

Well, that’s not going to work anymore. The political left can thank Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberals for this after they unwittingly honoured a Nazi in Parliament.

Conservatives stop Liberals from erasing recognition of Nazi war veteran from House of Commons record

Slimeball

OTTAWA — The Liberal government sought to erase from the record of the House of Commons the celebration of a Nazi war veteran during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit last Friday but that request was denied by the Conservatives who say to do so is “absolutely wrong.”

Government House leader Karina Gould stood up on Monday afternoon to ask for unanimous consent to adopt a motion calling to strike “from the appendix of the House of Commons debates” and from “any House multimedia recording” the recognition made by Speaker Anthony Rota of Yaroslav Hunka, 98, whom he described as “a Ukrainian hero, a Canadian hero.”

The Pressure Is On: Biden Has a Year To Pull Out a Success in Ukraine

Remember when your parents made you visit a cranky old person you never wanted to meet.

Everyone knows that a reasonable compromise is hovering over the war between Ukraine and Russia, so why are there no negotiations?

Some commentators have accused President Biden of invoking “the lessons of Munich,” in reference to the Ukraine War, and particularly of citing those lessons erroneously in his address to the United Nations last week. Meticulous scrutiny of his text discloses no reference to Munich or to the practice of “appeasement” in international relations.

How long can a country this decadent survive?

A friend of mine, whenever he sees my dog in his little harness, invariably asks the dog if he’s proud of his San Francisco styling. It’s a funny joke, and my dog and I get a good laugh every time, but behind the joke is a serious issue, and that’s how long our country can survive the decadence that’s taking over. The reason I bring this up is that the annual “Up Your Alley” Fair took place in San Francisco over the weekend. A freely available online publication has the photos, and it’s not pretty—and these are the photos that aren’t Triple-X rated.

Environmentalist Owner of Private Jet Forms “Planetary Guardians”

When we talk about saving the planet by raising taxes and eliminating the middle class, we often neglect to hear from the most important stakeholders, celebrities, politicians, and overhyped business figures. But one self-serving buffoon is finally committed to changing that by unveiling the Planetary Guardians.

Imagine ‘Captain Planet and the Planeteers’ if it consisted entirely of the Davos crowd and its only superpower was being invited to cocktail parties.

Why the West’s elites invented a permacrisis

Our desperate rulers are clinging on to a dying world

War, climate change, economic stagnation, political polarisation — there seems to be no shortage of crises these days. Indeed, the situation is so perilous that the rarely hysterical Financial Times last year named “polycrisis” one of its words of the year, defining it as “a cluster of related global risks with compounding effects, such that the overall impact exceeds the sum of each part”. The concept was initially popularised by Adam Tooze and has since been endorsed even by the World Economic Forum. The UN, for what it is worth, prefers to talk of “overlapping crises”.

UK Army called in after police firearms officers hand in their guns

Scotland Yard is negotiating with the Army to cover for armed officers who are refusing to carry guns, The Telegraph can reveal.

The Metropolitan Police has asked the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to provide resources after more than 100 firearms officers effectively walked off the job following the decision to charge one of their colleagues with murder.

It is understood military personnel could be asked to step in and cover for Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officers, who are among those who are currently refusing to carry guns.
