What’s behind ‘mounting tensions’ in the Indian diaspora in Canada?

As a city of tents sprang up outside India’s capital city New Delhi in December 2020, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau waded into a debate around protests taking place halfway across the world.

From Ottawa, he promised that Canada would “always stand up” for the right to peacefully protest.

“We believe in the importance of dialogue and that’s why we have reached out through multiple means directly to the Indian authorities to highlight our concerns,” he said.

The road to zero carbon runs through the homes of the poor

Nobody ever asked us if we wanted green energy. They just did it

It has been said that the road to net zero carbon emissions runs through the homes of the poor. This statement is echoed in UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s decision this week to water down net zero commitments, a political manoeuvre, no doubt in response to growing concerns over the costs of the energy transition.

Perhaps the Prime Minister has recognised, as Nigel Farage has been saying for some time, that there has been a democratic deficit around net zero that is similar to the deficit that eventually led to the Brexit vote. Because, as with EU membership, political elites have taken us down the road to net zero without waiting to see if this is a road we, the public, wish to travel.

MPs hope Zelenskyy’s visit counters creeping fatigue over cost of war support

Some MPs worried about waning enthusiasm among their constituents for supporting Ukraine’s defence say they hope President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit changes some hearts and minds.

“It’s important that we continue to stay unified as Canadians … and advocate for the aid necessary to ensure Ukraine wins the war,” said Toronto-area Liberal MP Yvan Baker, chair of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Conrad Black: Trudeau’s attack on grocers is absurd

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s convocation of the leading food retail companies in order to scold them about rising food prices is one of the most egregious acts of political flimflam in this country in many years. Last year the combined profits of the three largest grocery retailers (Loblaw, Sobeys, and Metro) was $3.6 billion, but that was against $100 billion in sales. That is not, by general corporate standards, a high return, especially as it is a business that is unusually vulnerable to inventory shrinkage — outright theft by employees and customers is generally more than one per cent of overall sales.

Kendi gonna Kendi: When racial grifters tell you who they are, believe them

Ibram Kendi – Race Baiting Grifter

Ibram X. Kendi has done as he promised. In 2020, freshly anointed as the director of Boston University’s new Center for Antiracist Research (CAR), Kendi announced his intention to “transform how racial research is done.” Previously, “research” had been understood to involve collecting data, analyzing trends and gathering new insights through the careful application of sustained thought. But these expectations were hallmarks of white supremacy. This week, as allegations of wanton mismanagement emerge from Kendi’s staff, it appears that what it means to do “racial research” has indeed been transformed: it now entails taking vast sums of other people’s money, then using it to produce almost nothing.

What Is Fueling Public Schools’ Book-Weeding?

The roots of the problem are not confined to Canada, where a school district recently canceled any books published before 2008.

Peel School District — located in Ontario, Canada, and bordering Toronto — is reportedly weeding books from its libraries with publication dates prior to 2008. The district’s school board has yet to respond specifically to parents’ and Ontario officials’ questions, raising concerns about the book-weeding’s effect on the students’ educations and the district’s approach to education in general.

Dementia or Disrespect? You’ll Never Believe What Biden Did When He Met with Netanyahu

… To put into perspective how odd this is, imagine if Trump had made the sign of the cross as he was meeting with Netanyahu. There would have been a new round of “Trump is an antisemite” articles in the establishment media. The ADL would have issued another in their long series of furious denunciations of the Bad Orange Man. The gesture would have been portrayed as a recrudescence of the bad old days of blood libels and false accusations against the Jews that culminated in the Holocaust. When Biden does it, on the other hand, no one sees it.

Thanks to the Policies of the Obama and Biden Administrations, the New Axis of Evil – Russia, China, North Korea, Iran – Posing a Worldwide Existential Threat

Not only is the Biden administration turning a blind eye on the growing alliance between Iran, Russia, China and North Korea, and looking the other way on their evasions of sanctions, it is also financing the ruling mullahs of Iran with billions of dollars to put the finishing touches on the country’s nuclear program and for delivering more weapons to Russia with which to attack Ukraine.

What price would India pay if involved in killing a Canadian citizen? Precious little

It may be months, if ever, before Ottawa gets to the bottom of who was responsible for the gangland-style murder of Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Given that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said there is “credible” intelligence that India played a role in the slaying, it’s hard to imagine any thorough investigation taking place that doesn’t include the full co-operation of the government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India can ban Junior. That’s a win.
