Germany: Dozens injured in unrest at Eritrean event

Police in the southwestern German city of Stuttgart on Sunday said dozens of people, including at least 26 officers were injured amid unrest surrounding an Eritrean cultural festival.

Along with 26 officers, four people participating in the event and two protesting it were injured, police said in a statement. Six of the injured officers were being treated at the hospital.

The clash was the latest in a string of incidents at such events in Germany and elsewhere, with fights breaking out between Eritrean government supporters and opponents.

China’s ‘CEO Whisperers’: Chinese Communist Party Takes Over Canada

“When I look… at the subtle but intense influence of China on Canadian institutions — parliaments, provincial governments, local governments, universities, the intellectual community, the policy community — it makes me deadly worried,” said Australian professor Clive Hamilton, author of Hidden Hand: Exposing How the Chinese Communist Party is Reshaping the World (co-authored by Mareike Ohlberg), speaking to Canada’s National Post in 2019. “I’ve met some very well-informed Canadians who aren’t sure Canada will be able to extricate itself from this situation.”

Police urge victims to come forward as Russell Brand is accused of rape – and grooming a girl of 16

Comedian Russell Brand was last night accused of raping a businesswoman and grooming a 16-year-old schoolgirl for sex.

In a string of bombshell allegations, the 48-year-old star was accused of sexual assaults and abusive and predatory behaviour between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame.

Four women alleged they were assaulted by Brand, one of whom had previously told The Mail on Sunday of his ‘controlling and manipulative’ behaviour.

Despite plunging popularity Junior doubles down on stupid

His poll numbers are plunging. His MPs are griping. But Justin Trudeau isn’t changing course

“Better than expected” isn’t exactly a phrase that has followed Justin Trudeau around this summer.

So perhaps it is remarkable that the prime minister walked out of his Liberal caucus retreat this week with everyone talking about an “honest” conversation that went better than expected, by most accounts.

The good news is that both the public and many in the media are on the same page. Junior is being ignored at best and more often simply laughed at.

Is this Ukrainian nuclear plant on brink of Fukushima-style disaster?

The chance of a serious disaster at the Russian-occupied nuclear power plant in Ukraine has risen to one in five, a leading engineer at the Soviet-era facility has warned.

A recent exodus of top staff and the power station’s use as a military base by Chechen troops are among the reasons why a “Fukushima scenario” could happen at any time, according to one of the ten most senior engineers at the plant near Zaporizhzhia, which had a prewar workforce of 11,000.

The shortage of expertise is so acute that janitors, secretaries and “blue-collar” workers are posing as engineers in lab coats to dupe international observers into believing that the Russians have the necessary staff to avert disaster, according to sources with knowledge of conditions inside the facility.

Trudeau Takes Aim at Corporate Canada as Inflation Sinks His Popularity

… “Most people just don’t trust food companies,” said Sylvain Charlebois, a food professor at Dalhousie University, who will take part in Monday’s meeting. “According to one of our recent surveys, 82% of Canadians believe that greed is behind higher food prices.”

The government said there have been situations where large grocers got together “to prevent smaller competitors from establishing operations nearby,” without giving specifics. A Competition Bureau report in June found that independent grocers struggle to find real estate. It also said consolidation makes it tougher for new stores to stay in business and that many independent grocers are forced to buy products from their competitors.

A plague on both their houses. Justin is spewing hot air just to look like he’s doing something and the Grocery Barons deserve contempt. Stealing bread from the mouths of children for 14 years without jail time says it all about Canada’s Crony Capitalist economy.

Trudeau’s housing crisis will take years to solve says Freeland

Canada’s housing crisis will take years to solve: finance minister

An affordable housing crisis that is hurting the Canadian government’s popularity will take years to resolve, even if construction hits an 80-year high, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Saturday.

Her comments were among the first by a senior member of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal administration to acknowledge the scale of the challenge. Polls show the Liberals trailing their Conservative rivals, who blame Ottawa for high inflation and soaring home prices.

This is Trudeau’s crisis, he created it so don’t blame Canadians Freedo.

Missing Chinese defense chief signals turmoil in Xi’s government

The United States believes Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu has been placed under investigation and relieved of his command, reports said Friday, in what could be the latest sign of turmoil in Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s government, just over six months after he installed a collection of loyalist leaders in his Cabinet.

Three U.S. officials and two people briefed on intelligence surrounding Li told the Financial Times that Washington has concluded that the defense chief, who took up his post in March, had been stripped of his responsibilities. They did not offer further insights into the probe.

David Krayden: Lich, Barber Trial Is a Reminder That We Will Not Return to COVID Mandates

It was the second week of what I am calling the Freedom Trial of Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, two peaceful protesters who came to Ottawa during the Freedom Convoy demonstration of January to February 2022. This prosecution and persecution of course is not just about Lich and Barber—it’s about the whole Freedom Convoy and everyone who dared to support it. Especially those who had their bank accounts frozen by the government for doing so.
