Poilievre fires back at WestJet union after speaking on flight’s PA system

Pierre Poilievre is accusing a union representing WestJet employees of “trying to silence freedom of speech” by demanding an apology from the company after the Conservative leader spoke on the PA system on a recent flight.

A video circulating online shows Poilievre making short remarks on a flight that was leaving Quebec City for Calgary Sunday night after the Conservative Party of Canada’s convention.

This is the sort of crap that should get the CBC defunded.

Electric cars are the new EU-China battleground

Manufacturing competition is hurting Europe and the UK, and America could be next

This week Ursula von der Leyen announced that the European Commission, of which she is President, would be launching an anti-subsidies probe into the market for Chinese electric vehicles (EVs). This announcement comes off the back of data showing that Chinese EVs are starting to dominate the European market, with reports as early as last autumn showing that these cars were outcompeting domestically produced equivalents.

Tucker Carlson goes to Argentina — and shows us what it’s like to live in a country where the government can’t stop printing money

Argentina is a developed country, with an educated population, a huge middle class, and tremendous natural resources.

But when you look at it closely…you learn quickly why its nationals want to flee, and why anti-establishment “anarcho-capitalist” Javier Milei is leading in the polls and likely to win Argentina’s presidency come October.

The G20 and the unravelling of American power

The failure to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine speaks volumes.

On the surface, this year’s G20 summit in India has achieved its main mission. Last weekend, the world’s largest and most important economies met in New Delhi, India and managed to agree on a joint statement, without a single dissenting note. ‘We are One Earth, One Family and we share One Future’, the statement says in its opening sentence.

Sure but Junior snuck in some gender language.

From “Pedophile Rights” to “Transgender Rights”

The curious tale of two gay-activist “heroes” – and a movement that’s been piggybacked not once but twice.

When I was a young man attending Gay Pride Marches in New York City in the 1980s, there were two groups of marchers that stood out. One was the gay police officers, who always got the most applause – partly because everyone realized how much guts it took in those days to present oneself publicly as a gay cop (especially given that other members of New York’s Finest were there on duty, memorizing your face) and partly because their presence was living proof that being gay was not inconsistent with being an upstanding, respected, and useful member of society.

Trudeau announces new measures to deal with housing, grocery prices

Faced with increasing pressure to respond to widespread concerns about the cost of living and questions about his leadership, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a series of new measures Thursday meant to deal with rising housing and grocery prices.

Trudeau’s announcement came at the conclusion of a Liberal caucus meeting in London, Ont. that included what one minister called a “robust” discussion of the government’s challenges and sagging political fortunes.

Poilievre releases housing plan he says would ‘build homes, not bureaucracy’

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre released Thursday a housing plan he said would fast-track the construction of new homes in Canada as the country grapples with an acute shortage of affordable places to live.

Poilievre said that after eight years in government, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberals have failed to stimulate the construction of enough homes to meet demand — a situation that has made young people increasingly disillusioned about their financial futures.

Interesting – both are getting hammered in the comments.

Why won’t Greenpeace admit that wind turbines may be killing whales?

Who cares about whales? Whales might be dying because of sonar surveying, but Greenpeace simply ignores the science that doesn’t suit it.

So far last year, 71 whales have washed up dead on the shores of New England and neighbouring states. The rate seems to have risen in recent years along with a growth in the number of offshore wind turbines. A small group of concerned citizens have started to campaign against the turbines on behalf of the whales, and the journalist Michael Shellenberger has made a short film about their efforts called Thrown to the Wind.

Is Canada a Tyranny? Aristotle on Justin Trudeau

The word “tyranny,” originally τυραννία (tyrannia) in the Greek, seems to have become part of the current lexicon. The term derives from τύραννος (tyrannos), which translates as “lord, master, sovereign” but eventually acquired more sinister connotations in the classical period of Greek history under the cruel and oppressive rule of various demagogues like, among others, Polycrates of Samos and, more famously, the grasping Dionysius of Syracuse.

In the present historical moment in most Western nations, tyrants or wannabe tyrants have begun to proliferate — in France, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union as a whole, the United States, and my own country, Canada. Especially Canada, where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “an effete pseudo-intellectual,” as Matt Taibbi describes him, seems to have become the poster boy for the resurgence of the modern tyrant.

LETTER TO U.S. CONGRESS REGARDING CANADA, 9/14/23.

… As Americans we have a duty and obligation to provide our lawmakers with information that may reveal emerging threats and any unlawful activities, both domestic and foreign, against the U.S. government.

Our overall concern is that it appears the Canadian government is enacting policies that are slowing chipping away at the freedoms, liberties, and individual rights of its citizens and therefore can have profound negative impact on our relations with that government.

It is no secret that the Chinese Communist party is making its mark both here in the United States and Canada. But, more-so in Canada because the people of that nation do not have the Constitutional protections, we in America have.
