Transgender protester brings Cycling World Championships road race to a halt

A transgender activist brought the men’s road race at the Cycling World Championships to a halt on Sunday, protesting about petrochemical sponsorship and the exclusion of transgender athletes.

Five people were arrested after they halted the elite men’s road race, in what one of the activists said had been a response to the sport’s recent ruling that only biological women could compete in female events.

No, racism isn’t to blame for the heatwave response

Jeff Goodell, climate correspondent of Rolling Stone, alarmingly told the Guardian in an interview on Sunday that racism is “at the heart of the failure to tackle heatwaves”. What’s more, “the people most impacted by heat are not the kind of voting demographic that gets any politician nervous,” according to the writer, who can’t have been paying attention to American politics for the last 70 years, let alone the steeply declining death rate from weather events.

As extremist threat rises, Latino Texans say gun ownership is ‘matter of survival’

On a crisp Sunday afternoon in Royse City, Texas, 32-year-old Cesar Hurtado unzipped a hardshell case to reveal a custom-built AR-15-style rifle in his living room. Emblazoned on the side of the gun is the tagline “no war, no gods, no masters”.

Hurtado’s interest in firearms started with hunting, but after the 2019 Walmart shooting in El Paso that targeted Latinos, Hurtado felt he had to embrace firearms for his own protection. “For white gun owners, they feel they have a right to a gun,” Hurtado said, “but for Latino gun owners, it’s a matter of survival and safety.”

The unspoken story about what it will take to reach net zero goals

Politicians, business leaders, bureaucrats and the media regularly discuss decarbonization and a rosy future where Canada is no longer a net contributor of emissions that are causing global climate change.

But too often, absent from that discussion is what we actually have to do to meet the federal government’s objective to be a net-zero nation by 2050, never mind the ambitious environmental targets that are quickly approaching in 2030.

I give the author credit for coming clean on the fact that the Green-Scam is not realistically attainable even though that was not his intention.

He harbours an unbridled enthusiam for what only a Stalinesque slave state would have the arrogance to attempt.

CBC says that always reliable unnamed ambassadors are worried Poilievre will not follow Justin Trudeau’s course on climate and foreign policy

As ambassadors seek answers from Poilievre, Tory caucus offers foreign policy hints

Ambassadors around Ottawa are looking for clues to decipher the Conservative Party’s foreign policy, as leader Pierre Poilievre offers few hints of how he’d approach the world stage as prime minister.

In Ottawa, diplomats at several embassies describe feeling uncertain about whether Conservatives would stick to global climate commitments and continue staunchly supporting Ukraine.

They would only speak about the matter if they were not directly identified, citing the risk of compromising diplomatic relations.

Anthony Fauci’s Deceptions

‘Tony doesn’t want his fingerprints on origin stories.’

On April 17, 2020, with much of the country still in some form of lockdown and news of overwhelmed hospitals dominating the headlines, Dr. Anthony Fauci, then a member of the President’s Coronavirus Task Force, was asked a question toward the end of a White House press briefing: Was there a possibility that this novel virus came from a lab in Wuhan, China?

The Coldest War: Geopolitical Struggle in the Arctic

America has fewer icebreakers than China or Russia. Does that leave us vulnerable?

As melting ice opens up trade routes in the Arctic Ocean, the Far North is becoming another geopolitical battlefield between the United States and its adversaries. The U.S. Coast Guard has fewer ships able to puncture through the frozen sea than China or Russia, and some writers fear that America’s Arctic interests are becoming vulnerable to authoritarian expansion. Washington might end up like a nervous boy on a first date — unable to break the ice.

“Both Putin and Xi have made clear,” Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) said, “that the High North is key to their strategic interests.” Indeed, Wall Street Journal reporters William Mauldin and Alan Cullison have highlighted the authoritarians’ Arctic activity, including Russia’s increased presence in the region and Beijing’s use of its intelligence network to back Moscow’s activities in the area.

Interesting that these articles from the Spectator & the WSJ  mention Canada only in passing.

“Mad about Climate Change” urinating polar bear sculpture turned off at night after noise complaints

A statue of a polar bear urinating into a Dutch canal will no longer pass water at night after noise complaints from nearby sleep-deprived residents.

The giant “p—-d off” bear, erected to highlight the effects of climate change, had urinated every three minutes, 24 hours a day, before its neighbours complained the flow made too much noise.

‘Bacon of hope’: Germany tries to take down unflattering parody account

Instead of flying to an international summit in Bali, Germany’s Green Party climate minister should take the zero-carbon alternative and walk. Germans must boycott the opening of the men’s second division football season because “patriarchal structures” have led to a clash with the Women’s World Cup.

These and other absurd messages have attracted 50,000 followers to an anonymous satirist parodying the German foreign minister on X, formerly known as Twitter. It is more than several actual ministries have amassed.

Can Trump Get an “Impartial Jury” in DC? What the Law Requires

The Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees the accused the right to “an impartial jury.” But it also states that the trial should take place in “the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed.” What should happen, therefore, when it is virtually impossible for the defendant to get an impartial jury in that state or district?

Hospital cancelled my surgery after I complained about transgender nurse

A woman whose surgery was cancelled because she demanded same-sex care has claimed she could have been killed by the delay.

Teresa Steele was informed over email that her operation at the Princess Grace, a private hospital in central London, which specialises in women’s health, had been scrapped as a result of her request that only biological women be involved in her intimate care and later developed an abscess.

You Won’t Believe the NY Times Double Standard on Jason Aldean and ‘Racist Vigilantism’

The New York Times looked ridiculous in several articles on alleged racism and “vigilantism.” Jason Aldean’s song “Try That In a Small Town” never mentioned race, but was somehow a call to racist violence. But a South African leader chanted “Kill the Boer!” — an explicit call to violence against white South African farmers — and the Times pooh-poohed it as a “far right” conspiracy theory.

Alleged thief in viral 7-Eleven beatdown video stole 2 other times, workers probed for assault: cops

A suspected shoplifter beaten by two 7-Eleven clerks in a viral video allegedly stole from the same California location at least twice before the employees took him down, police said as they revealed the workers are under investigation for possible assault.

Stockton police shed new light over the weekend on the July 29 confrontation in which the pair of workers used a stick to wallop a man who tried to swipe a trash can full of cigarettes.
