French public want climate activists tackled like terrorists

“Commando-style” protests by climate activists in France are provoking a public backlash and almost three quarters of respondents to a poll called for protesters to be dealt with using “counterterrorism tactics”.

In recent months environmentalists have staged headline-grabbing stunts, including throwing paint at artwork by Claude Monet on loan to Sweden and disrupting a performance at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, where a protester chained himself to the scenery.

Millions of secret US military emails accidentally leaked to Mali because of a typo

Millions of United States military emails, some of which contain highly sensitive information, have been accidentally sent to Mali because of a common typo.

Defence email addresses have the suffix .mil, but people have been mistyping it as .ml, the country identifier for Mali.

Misdirected emails include those containing diplomatic documents, tax returns, passwords and travel details of top officers.

Canada’s ‘Guest of Honour’ Sponsorship of 2021 German Book Fair Cost Over $18 Million: Audit

Indian name means “Put it on the tab”

The federal government paid over $18 million in 2021 for it’s “guest of honour” sponsorship of that year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, according to a newly disclosed federal audit. Gov. Gen. Mary Simon attended the fair with over 30 guests.

“The Department of Canadian Heritage incurred costs of approximately $17.5 million in connection with its responsibilities,” said the department’s “Audit Of Frankfurt Book Fair Controls,” as first reported by Blacklock’s Reporter.

Russia killed off the Black Sea grain deal. What happens now?

Russia on Monday pulled out of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, a U.N.-brokered accord that has made it possible for Ukraine to export tens of millions of tons of grains and oilseeds over the past year even as the war rages on.

The deal was vital to keeping food flowing from Ukraine — a major breadbasket — to the wider world. But Russia, claiming that its own food and fertilizer exports were being hurt by “hidden” Western sanctions, had already effectively strangled the deal before finally killing it off.

Hours later, the Kremlin warned that it could no longer guarantee the safety of shipping in the northwestern Black Sea.

Cobalt and the sacrifice of African children on the green altar

COBALT is essential to modern technology. All sorts of electronic devices rely on it, along with other elements such as lithium. Solar panels and electric vehicles (EVs) wouldn’t function without them. While the environmental degradation associated with both lithium and cobalt extraction is well established, the issues around cobalt are even more poignant because of the manner in which it is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He’s No Geert Wilders

A look at the kind of politician who will let Western Europe sink.

His name is Simen Bondevik. Now twenty-two, he’s head of the youth division of Norway’s Center Party and a candidate in this year’s election, scheduled for September 11, for Oslo’s City Council. When I moved to Norway, he wasn’t born yet, and his grandfather, Kjell Magne Bondevik, was the country’s prime minister.

RFK Jr and the slur of ‘red-brown’ politics

If Left and Right agree, it doesn’t mean they are fascists

In the 20th century, the ultimate expression of red-brown politics — that is to say, the meeting point of far-Left and far-Right ideas — was the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact of 1939, in which Stalin’s USSR and Hitler’s Germany carved up Eastern Europe between them. It came to an end when Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, but the Pact stands as proof that, when it suits them, the political extremes are capable of uniting against the centre.

The eco-elites’ insane war on farming

Three cheers for the Irish farmers who’ve joined the revolt against Net Zero.

Should we kill all cows? Amazingly, it’s a question the green elites are asking. ‘Cow burps’, with their methane, contribute 14.5 per cent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions. Cow dung releases ammonia, a nitrogen compound that damages natural habitats. From both their mouths and their behinds, cows cause pollution. So let’s cull them. Earlier this year, the Irish government proposed the slaughter of 200,000 cows to help it meet its climate targets. The Dutch government has flirted with the idea of reducing livestock numbers by 30 per cent to ‘reduce damaging ammonia pollution’. ‘Should we kill trillions of animals to save the planet?’, headlines ask.

Why Moms for Liberty Frightens the Democrats

The group leads a movement that threatens the power of their teacher union paymasters.

For most Americans, “Mom” evokes images of kindness, courage, sympathy and love. Likewise, “liberty” calls up concepts like individual rights, freedom of expression, equality and justice. Yet, the perversity of the current political environment is such that a parental rights group whose name combines these two words has been demonized by Democrats, the corporate media and the reactionary left. Just recently, a New Hampshire Democrat denounced the group as “Assholes with casseroles,” the Hill ran a story titled, “Six reasons why Moms for Liberty is an extremist organization,” and the Southern Poverty Law Center added them to its Hate Map.

Why so much animus for an organization whose goal is merely to give parents a voice in the education of their children?

Hamas is the Palestinian Wagner Group

Much was made recently of the criminal army known as the Wagner Group.

They do not conform to conventional military morals or comply with international military law.

They were, until they threatened to turn against him, Putin’s proxy army that operated more brutally, but with greater military success, than his conventional army.

One thinks this is unique, but consider this.

Consider Hezbollah as Iran’s Wagner Group. Operating under no international constraints, they now control the country in which they are based, Lebanon.

Church of England Schools Propagating Critical Race Theory

A bombshell report released earlier this month has revealed that anti-white critical race theory (CRT) curriculum is being taught to young students at Church of England schools, whose educators are teaching white kids that they “benefit from the systematic oppression of People of Colour through racist policies and practice.”

The revelation comes nearly three years after Kemi Baden, then the minister of women and equality, told other British MPs during a debate in the House of Commons that teachers who propagate the concept of white privilege as a fact to their students are breaking the law. In 2020, Kemi reminded the UK Parliament that the government is against “the teaching of contested political ideas as if they are accepted fact,” adding that educators should not be teaching their white pupils about “inherited racial guilt.”

Will the mounting death toll change Ukraine’s calculus?

In every big-city cemetery, the ‘Heroes Alley’ of fallen soldiers now holds several hundred graves

At a small army field clinic outside Bakhmut, I watched as the body of a dead soldier was carried in. Two more soldiers followed, this time seriously injured — and this was what troops described as a “quiet day.” Ukraine doesn’t talk about its military deaths much and refuses to reveal any figures. There’s little in the way of victim culture here; the emphasis is on how brave its troops are, not how many have perished. Most people know someone who’s died in action, but treat the collective trauma as something to worry about when the war is over. In the meantime, there’s vodka.
