Chowtown: Trudeau not paying a cent for refugee housing

‘Not paying a cent’: Chow takes aim at feds on housing for refugees as newcomers flood Toronto shelters

Mayor-elect Olivia Chow slammed the federal government Wednesday for not taking responsibility for housing refugees it brings into the country, but said she’s “hopeful” she’ll be able to work with them to improve the situation.

“The federal government is not paying a cent right now for refugees’ housing, period,” Chow told reporters following a meeting in Scarborough with community leaders and the private sector as part of her transition. “That is the truth. I am just saying right up front.”

Toronto deserves it, they voted to elect both these clowns.

Decline dinner invites.

A ‘devil worshipper’ dubbed the ‘Cannibal of Puebla’ who allegedly killed his wife, ate her brain in tacos, and used her skull as an ashtray has been arrested in Mexico.

The suspect, identified only as Alvaro, was seized at the couple’s home in Puebla on July 2 and taken into custody.

The police accuse the 32-year-old of murdering his wife – a mother of five – on June 29 while under the influence of a prohibited substance.

Gap between Canada’s rich and poor increasing at record speed, new StatsCan data shows

Income and wealth inequality among Canadian households is increasing at record speed amid inflation and rising interest rates, and younger households are bearing the financial burden, a new report from Statistics Canada shows.

The wealthiest 20 per cent of households controlled more than two-thirds — nearly 68 per cent — of the total net worth in Canada in the first quarter of 2023, while the least wealthy 40 per cent accounted for 2.7 per cent, the federal agency reported on Tuesday.

RAF Scampton Dambusters’ dog grave move rejected

Plans to relocate the grave of a dog which was a mascot to the Dambusters have been refused by councillors.

The 617 Squadron’s mascot, a black Labrador, belonged to commanding officer Guy Gibson and died on the day of the raid on German dams in 1943.

The RAF applied for planning permission to move the grave from RAF Scampton as the site is to be used to house asylum seekers from August.

Julian Somers: Our study found ‘safe supply’ isn’t safe. We were smeared for our work

I was drawn to the field of addiction by great mentors. Dr. Bruce Alexander shared his encyclopedic knowledge and was my first co-author. His rat park studies illustrated links between harmful addictions and isolation. My clinical mentor, Dr. Alan Marlatt, recruited me to the exciting first wave of research on harm reduction. Since then, I’ve been blessed by three decades of amazing clients, patients, trainees and collaborators. Together we’ve contributed to an inspiring body of evidence demonstrating ways to dramatically improve the wellbeing of people who experience addictions and homelessness. To date, that evidence has not been well communicated to Canadians. And there are more than a few people working to keep it that way.

Damaged electric cars ‘quarantined’ over fears they will explode

Electric cars that sustain minor bumps are being kept 15 meters apart in repair yards over fears they might explode, adding to insurance bills.

Government guidelines recommend electric vehicles with damaged batteries should be “quarantined” from other vehicles due to the risk of battery fires. Damaged batteries pose a risk of “thermal runaway” where the energy stored in the battery releases rapidly, creating temperatures of up to 400C.

Ottawa Man First to Face Terrorism, Hate Charges Linked to Far-Right Propaganda … and then there’s the case of the Ottawa “Educator”

An Ottawa man is the first ever to be charged in Canada with terrorism and hate propaganda offences for advocating a violent, far-right ideology.

RCMP say they arrested and charged 26-year-old Patrick Gordon Macdonald with participating in the activity of a terrorist group, facilitating terrorist activity and wilfully promoting hatred for a terrorist group.

The RCMP says Macdonald helped make propaganda material for a terrorist group called Atomwaffen Division.

And … Ottawa Educator Glorifies Palestinian Terrorism On Social Media

HonestReporting Canada is raising the alarm following its discovery that an Ottawa educator has posted what we contend is extensive anti-Israel propaganda on her Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Abeer Mousa, who is listed as an Educational Assistant at General Vanier Public School in Ottawa on the institution’s website, has published scores of anti-Israel posts on her Facebook and Twitter account over the last five years, ranging from content that we feel demonizes Israel and which appears to extol the virtues of Palestinian terrorist murderers.

Nazi v Anti-Zionist why is only one kind of hate singled out for this special prosecution?

Who has the greater ability to spread their message? An “educator” who praises Anti-Israel terrorists and has daily access to impressionable young minds or the basement Nazi who made some propaganda for a few fellow basement dwellers?

Atomwaffen may have had as many as 100 members at one time, and is linked, in some instances tenuously, to as many as 5 murders by members.

1,424 people have been killed by Palestinian violence and terrorism since September 2000.

Abeer Mousa won’t be charged, just like Laith Marouf and many many more because in Canada identity politics guides our political class to tolerate the intolerable for votes.

Right-wing street fighters take on French rioters

Radical youth movements are mobilising across the nation

While France’s week of violent riots at first seems a retread of the banlieue uprising of 2005, in one respect it has displayed a new development, under-discussed in Anglophone media, which was absent a generation ago. Namely, the first evidence of a Right-wing counter-mobilisation against the rioters. In provincial cities like Lyon, Angers and Chambéry, groups of masked and hooded youths have appeared, dressed in black and armed with batons and pepper spray, to confront the rioters and the Left-wing demonstrators supporting them.

I saw a couple of videos purporting to show such activity but was unable to vet them. The military has launched an investigation after “rumours” began to circulate that soldiers from a nearby base masked up and delivered bound rioters to the police in Lorient – Riots: the army opens an investigation into the supposed help of marine commandos to the police in Lorient

Ontario looks to build first full-scale nuclear power plant in decades

Ontario could be getting its first new, full-scale nuclear plant in three decades, the province’s Energy Minister said Wednesday, unveiling plans to work with privately-owned Bruce Power to conduct an environmental study of a potential additional facility at the company’s massive existing site on the shores of Lake Huron.

… Any new nuclear facility in Ontario would require at least a decade for an extensive federal impact assessment and public consultations – including with local Indigenous groups – as well as final approvals by the federal Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. It would also cost many billions of dollars. When the Liberal government of Dalton McGuinty scrapped plans for a new full-scale facility near Ontario Power Generation’s Darlington site in Clarington, east of Toronto, more than a decade ago, the projected price tag was expected to be more than $25-billion. The government provided no cost estimate on Wednesday.

That’s a sick joke and I suspect much of the process is just a scam for well connected hacks to line their pockets.

Canada stops advertising with Facebook and Instagram in news row

Canada’s federal government has said it will pull all its advertising from Facebook and Instagram.

It follows parent company Meta’s move to restrict news content for Canadians after parliament passed a law that will force tech firms to pay media for news.

Canadian officials said on Wednesday that they stand by the law and will not be “intimidated” by Meta.

They said they have been in contact with other countries who plan to pass similar laws.

I must be a bad person because I just can’t seem to care about this at all.

In Justin Trudeau Mark Zuckerberg fortunately found someone even more loathed than himself to have a fight with. I can’t pick a side.

Hara-Kiri Trudeau Style

Wildfires in Canada and unseasonably high temperatures in parts of Europe are being blamed on climate change, further escalating the frenzied sense of urgency propounded by governments, activist groups and the mainstream media to “do something” about carbon emissions. In Canada, it seems no volume of emissions is too small to worry about. B.C. taxpayers, for example, will be paying an estimated $25 million to connect cruise ships docking in Victoria to electric shore power so the ships’ diesel generators can be shut down. This is surely establishing a world record in the cost per unit of avoided emissions.

Speaking of world records, our country is on also on-track to establish a much larger cost record on emissions reductions – spanning the entire nation – through a combination of ever-rising carbon taxes on motor fuel and deliberate debilitation of the oil and natural gas industry, which contributes Canada’s largest share of both GDP and export revenue.

BBC News anchor says ‘Israeli forces happy to kill children’

The BBC has apologised after one of its presenters said that “Israeli forces are happy to kill children” in an interview with the country’s former prime minister.

Anjana Gadgil made the comments while she was speaking to Naftali Bennett about the country’s military action in Jenin.

In an interview on Tuesday evening, she said: “The Israeli military are calling this a ‘military operation’, but we now know that young people are being killed, four of them under 18.

Elections Commissioner’s Office Dismissed 116 Complaints Alleging Foreign Interference Because Investigations Are Too Much Like Work

Caroline Simard Elections Canada – work shy

The Office of Elections Commissioner Caroline Simard dismissed 116 complaints of alleged foreign interference in Canada’s 2019 and 2021 general elections without initiating any relevant prosecution, according to an internal briefing note.

“Foreign components in investigations almost always give rise to delays, complexities and other challenges,” wrote the commissioner’s office in a briefing note dated Nov. 1, 2022, and obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter.

The office added that it would have to spend a “significant amount of time and resources” to obtain all the necessary evidence located outside the country to prove the interference allegations.

Cross-dressing Philadelphia mass shooter told cops his ghost gun rampage was an attempt to fight the city’s gun violence crisis because ‘all these guys are out there killing people’

The suspected Philadelphia mass shooter told police that his deadly rampage earlier this week was an attempt to fight the city’s gun violence crisis.

Police say 40-year-old Kimbrady Carriker wore a bulletproof vest and was armed with two ghost guns – an AR-15-style rifle and a handgun – as he stalked an area spanning several blocks in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia, where he allegedly shot seven people, killing five of them.

Carriker, a cross-dresser obsessed by guns, was taken into custody 10 minutes after police arrived on the scene and was arraigned Wednesday on five counts of murder.
