Senators Oh and Woo Play The Race Card Against Foreign Agent Registry in Canada Calling It Anti-Chinese

Senators Yuen Pau Woo and Victor Oh have ramped up efforts against enacting a foreign agent registration act as the Canadian government considers the legislation to combat foreign influence.

Both senators brought up the issue again at a conference that marked the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Immigration Act, held at the Splendid China Mall in Scarborough, Ont., on Saturday, May 27.

The act, introduced on July 1, 1923, is commonly known as the Chinese Exclusion Act, as it resulted from an effort to stop Chinese immigration, stated a May 30 federal government news release recognizing “the national historic significance” of this legislation.

Not trusting these two for some reason.

A former Conservative candidate has suspicions about why his Chinese-Canadian volunteers quit. So does the Liberal who beat him

Longtime B.C. politician Dave Hayer knew his campaign people. And his people included Chinese Canadians. They volunteered for him. They voted for him. And then in his 2021 campaign to become a federal Conservative MP, they vanished.

The former MLA was running to represent the riding of Fleetwood-Port Kells, drawing on the same base of volunteers from past elections in the populous and culturally diverse Metro Vancouver city of Surrey.

By the end of the campaign, most volunteers of Chinese descent had dropped out, fearing for themselves and their families, Hayer said.

Utah primary schools ban Bible for ‘vulgarity and violence’

A school district in the US state of Utah has removed the Bible from elementary and middle schools for containing “vulgarity and violence”.

The move follows a complaint from a parent that the King James Bible has material unsuitable for children.

Utah’s Republican government passed a law in 2022 banning “pornographic or indecent” books from schools.

Most of the books that have been banned so far pertain to topics such as sexual orientation and identity.

Collin May: How the ‘Islamophobia’ Accusation Damaged Me

Collin May, attorney and former director of the Alberta Human Rights Commission (AHRC) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, spoke to a May 5th Middle East Forum Webinar (video) in an interview with Dexter Van Zile, managing editor of the Middle East Forum’s Focus on Western Islamism (FWI). May discussed his ouster from the AHRC in 2022 after being accused of “Islamophobia.” The following is a summary of May’s comments:

Because May wrote a positive review of a book they deemed “Islamophobic” thirteen years earlier, the provincial government in Alberta terminated his employment. May has filed a wrongful dismissal suit against the Alberta government and a notice of defamation on media outlets. May attended Harvard University, where he studied Islamic philosophy. His book review of Efraim Karsh’s Islamic Imperialism was published while he attended law school. In the book, Karsh, former editor of the Middle East Forum’s Middle East Quarterly, addressed the “political dynamics” of Muslim majority countries by covering the “imperial background” of different caliphates in Islam’s history.

We still don’t have enough weapons for counter-offensive against Russia, Ukraine says

The Ukrainian counter-offensive has not yet begun because Kyiv still lacks sufficient weapons and ammunition to push out the Russians and take back the country, one of President Zelensky’s closest aides has said.

Dr Ihor Zhovkva, deputy head of the president’s office and his chief foreign affairs adviser, said the military needed more reinforcements to begin the long-awaited operation, which was originally billed as a spring offensive but will now take place in summer.

Police crackdown stops climate protesters in their tracks

A police crackdown has stopped Berlin’s climate protesters in their tracks, with no street blockades affecting the German capital since nationwide raids targeted the Letzte Generation (Last Generation) group last month.

Since late April, the group, using similar tactics to Just Stop Oil in the UK, had blockaded major streets in Berlin and pledged to continue until the government met their demands.

Immigration, Population Growth: Nuances Amid Hyper-Polarization

Immigration has been an important and divisive issue in most Western societies for years now. Complicating this issue is that fertility rates have been dropping in developed nations for decades. The media and public have just caught on to the reality of fewer babies in the last few months.

There are many nuances to the discussion, and thoughtful people can have sincere differences. However, in our hyper-polarized times we can divide the sides of the issue into two distinct groups, both of which have no tolerance for the opposing team or for any dissent within their group. The groups somewhat play along the left and right of the political spectrum, but the correlation is weak enough to render politicization of the issue unhelpful.

Sleuths question whether artist who decorated NYPD car for Pride Month snuck in anti-police acronym

Social media sleuths believe an artist hired to decorate an NYPD vehicle to celebrate Pride Month snuck an anti-police acronym into the design.

The buzz began after NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell’s Twitter page posted a photo of an agency cruiser decked out in a rainbow design for Pride Month.

The patrol car featured the phrase “PRIDE MONTH” with the phrase “All Colors Are Beautiful” underneath.

Blackie’s Star Mad That Rest Of Canadian Media Not Hating On Poilievre Enough For Ridiculing Special Crony Report

In attacking David Johnston, Pierre Poilievre borrows a disgraceful tactic from Donald Trump

The best way to disrupt an investigation is to discredit the investigators.

Pierre Poilievre didn’t write that playbook. He borrowed it from Donald Trump.

No, this isn’t another hyperbolic comparison between American Trumpies and Canadian Tories. The similarities are eerie, but for one significant exception:

In the U.S., most American media called out Trump’s wilful distortions of how democracy works. In Canada, many in the media are repeating the canards from the Conservative leader about democracy, integrity and impartiality — largely uncritically — while dismissing David Johnston’s report on foreign interference in our elections.

Penitential rite held after naked man stands on St. Peter’s Basilica’s main altar

Two days after a naked man stood on the high altar of St. Peter’s Basilica in a shocking security breach, the basilica’s archpriest on Saturday held a penitential rite as required by canon law in cases where sacred places are desecrated.

Vatican News reported that the unidentified man was a Polish national who approached the high altar on June 1 as the basilica was about to close. He quickly undressed and climbed onto the altar. Photos posted online showed the words “Save children of Ukraine” written in marker on his back.

Conrad Black: Anthony Furey is the only one who can beat Olivia Chow

The Toronto mayoral election on June 26 is raising important urban issues and its significance will ramify far beyond Toronto and will be noticed in the United States, many of whose cities are wracked by critical problems on a scale they have not seen since the Great Depression. A week does not go by when the normally informed person does not see another news story illustrating the dangers and inconveniences of drug abuse, deranged behavior in a crowded public setting, and inadequate or grievously mistaken police responses. Although there are over one hundred mayoral candidates, polls indicate that approximately 90 per cent of decided voters support the seven leading candidates. These are bracketed by Olivia Chow on the left and Anthony Furey on the right. Neither of these could reasonably be called an extremist and the other five principal candidates are somewhere between them in policy terms: former provincial education minister Mitzie Hunter, former Toronto police chief Mark Saunders, environmentalist city councillor Josh Matlow, former deputy mayor Ana Bailao, and councillor Brad Bradford.

The High-Profile Americans Who Defected to Putin’s Russia

Tara Reade, the former political staffer who alleges President Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993, announced she had moved to Russia where she “felt safe,” and is seeking Russian citizenship, during an interview with the state-run Sputnik International network on Wednesday.

In April 2020, Reade filed a complaint with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, alleging Biden had penetrated her with his fingers without consent 30 years ago, after pushing her against a Senate corridor wall. Biden has denied the allegation “unequivocally,” adding: “It never, never happened.”
