Michel Maisonneuve: Redesigned passport is yet another step in Canada’s decline

The Canadian passport — once a symbol of freedom and prosperity, coveted by new Canadians and cherished by all Canadian citizens — has been stripped of every meaningful image and anecdote. Images of our heroes, our history and our national monuments have been replaced with drawings of a man raking leaves, children splashing in a pond and a squirrel eating a nut.

Not much to be proud of on those pages.

Royal pals are ‘mocking’ Harry, Meghan over ‘hysterical’ NYC car chase story

It’s a car chase that’s turned into a public relations car crash.

Friends of the British Royal Family are reportedly mocking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “unraveling” claim that they were caught up in a “near-catastrophic” car chase on Tuesday night.

The Sussexes’ spokesperson released a statement saying the couple was hounded by “a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” after they left the Women of Vision awards in Manhattan, resulting in a “relentless pursuit” with “multiple near collisions” that lasted more than 2 hours.

I hope this is the beginning of the end. I can’t think of two more unjustifiably entitled individuals.

Trudeau’s wide-stance pose with Korean politician splits critics

Justin Trudeau’s hair has made international headlines, as have his fumbling handshakes and propensity to appear shirtless when cameras are near. Now, the Canadian prime minister’s well-mannered legs are getting their moment in the spotlight

Ahead of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Trudeau and a delegation of Canadian ministers were in South Korea to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as an attempt to salvage a multibillion-dollar battery plant deal.

A female cyclist who gave up her dream of competing at the Olympics after losing to a biological male has said the experience ‘hurt on a million different levels’.

Democrats Cook the FBI’s Books on Domestic Terrorism

The projection of dystopian America mired in a terrorist war waged by the Democrats’ political adversaries is false.

Even before the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, congressional Democrats had formulated a plan to project the illusion that the most perilous threat to American national security — not just in our time but in our history — was domestic terrorism fueled by white supremacists. This was, and remains, a political narrative through and through. Democrats are not even subtle in signaling to the public that they should think of Trump supporters — not just the unabashed MAGA faction but any of the over 70 million Americans who found Trump preferable to Democrats — as white supremacists, or at least sympathizers of white supremacists, and ergo abettors of domestic terrorism.

The Tragedy of Indian Point

Bowing to anti-nuclear fears, New York chose to shut down a reliable and safe source of energy—and now burns more fossil fuels than before.

Two years ago, on April 30, 2021, the final reactor at New York’s Indian Point nuclear power plant ceased operation. This final closure (the plant’s first reactor was shuttered in 1974, the second in 2020) brought to an end a decades-long saga over the 2,000-megawatt behemoth on the Hudson River. New York’s then-governor, Andrew Cuomo, touted the shutdown as a major victory for state residents, “ending the threat the plant has long-posed to an area that is vitally important to our state, the nation, and the world.”

Why Cannes gave Johnny Depp a hero’s welcome

The film festival has reinvented itself as the capital of the anti-woke pushback

In the words of the writer and diarist Vladislav Davidzon, it was an event “indelibly connected to both the filmic exploits and monstrous predations of Harvey Weinstein… [to become] the symbolic birthplace of the #MeToo movement”. Now, the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, back in full force this year after weathering various culture wars and Covid restrictions, has reinvented itself as the capital of the anti-woke pushback.

The FBI is a danger to democracy

By obsessing over ‘Russiagate’, it let its anti-Trump prejudices get ahead of the truth.

We already knew that the claim Russia colluded with Donald Trump to win the presidency in 2016 was false. Multiple investigations, including the Mueller report, have revealed as much.

So we didn’t really need a 306-page report from special counsel John Durham to tell us again that Russiagate was little more than a smear campaign. But Durham’s report, published earlier this week, is nevertheless shocking. It shows how the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was actively involved in perpetuating the Russiagate hoax. It reveals how it undertook a multi-year investigation of Trump that it knew was groundless. And it exposes the extent to which the FBI worked with the Hillary Clinton campaign to spread lies about Trump’s ties to Russia in order to bring down the president.

Soros, antisemitism and the progressive assault on language

One of the key characteristics of our difficult times is the way in which the progressive left has hijacked language. Among other things, progressives have seized the language of bigotry to demonize non-progressives as bigots while engaging in and promoting bigotry themselves.

“Antisemitism” is one of the key terms that has been hijacked. This week, we saw a number of demonstrations of its exploitation at the hands of progressives to demonize those they deem a threat to their political and cultural power.

Ukraine Races to Forge New Army Ahead of Offensive

In a valley far from the front lines last week, several men practiced dropping a half-full bottle of water from a small aerial drone, as though it were a grenade. Others fired rifles at targets 100 yards away. A third group set off for a trek through the surrounding hills, which burst with white and yellow flowers.

Almost none of them had military experience before last year. The Ukrainian military is racing to turn civilians into elite soldiers for the cutting edge of a critical summer offensive.

Mysterious Mass absences break out at Ontario schools as Pride flag flies … Child Sexual Mutilation Aficionados Baffled

Same London school, similar issue, another mass absence.

This time, though, apparent backlash at some other schools, as well.

More than 400 pupils at one of London’s largest elementary schools – about one-third of the entire headcount – stayed home Wednesday, on a day when the rainbow flag flew across the school district as the area public board saluted International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
