Canada has room for a new centrist party, provided we can define what ‘centre’ means

Over the past nine months or so the Centre Ice Canadians group has been holding a series of conferences aimed at rehabilitating the centre ground of Canadian politics – deserted territory, many believe, given the present direction of both the Liberal and Conservative parties. Now the organization’s leadership is considering whether to turn it into a political party in its own right. A decision is promised for September.

UK: “Adults under 40 are much more likely than older people to call themselves atheists, but also to say that they believe in hell” according to World Values Study

Hell, yes: younger Britons more likely to believe in damnation, study finds

You may think the idea of hellfire belongs to an age when people’s lives were shaped by the threat of eternal damnation.

Wrong, it seems: generation Z and millennials in the UK are significantly more likely to believe in hell than baby boomers, according to a new study by the Policy Institute at King’s College London.

Younger people are also more likely to believe in life after death than older generations, despite being less religious generally.

Immigration myths, busted

Because immigrants also get old, we’d have to keep bringing in more to take care of the new old people.

After the media bigged up the expiration of America’s Covid-era Title 42, which enabled the US to block entries into the country, the anticipated stampede across the southern border doesn’t seem to have occurred. No worries, then? Behold the miracle of social adaptation. Before the handy illegal immigrant ejection seat was retired last week, illegal entries from Mexico had risen to 11,000 per day — if sustained, more than 4 million per year, and that’s after 2.3 million southern border apprehensions last year. The record-breaking influx had already become a stampede, and apparently people can get used to anything.

The end of Ukraine aid is rapidly approaching. Reupping it won’t be easy

Move over, Treasury. You’re not the only one with an X-date.

The $48 billion Ukraine aid package that Congress approved in December has about $6 billion left, meaning U.S. funding for weapons and supplies could dry up by midsummer.

That’s raising fresh concerns among lawmakers about what the White House is planning next, including when the administration will ask for another major package and whether it will be enough.

A taxpayer-supported school condemns the United States as a “white supremacy system.”

The University of Houston’s Radical DEI Bureaucracy

The University of Houston has created a radical DEI bureaucracy that condemns the United States as a “white supremacy system,” castigates Christians for their “religious privilege,” and hosts sexually explicit events such as “Queer Sex After Dark” and “Sex Ed Bingo: Chance to Win a Sex Toy.”

The University of Houston is a public institution that serves more than 46,000 students, approximately 80 percent of whom are racial minorities. But for the leadership, the goal of “diversity” is an ideological, rather than demographic, project.

‘Murdered Like Animals’: The Genocide of Christians in Nigeria Reaches New Heights

The “pure genocide” of Christians in Nigeria, as it has been characterized by some international observers, has reached new levels, according to an April 10, 2023 report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, also known as “Intersociety”, a nonprofit human rights organization based in Nigeria.

According to the report, since the Islamic uprising began in 2009, 52,250 Christians “have been butchered or hacked to death” in Nigeria. With each passing year, the number of slain grows. In just the first 100 days of this year, “no fewer than 1,041 defenseless Christians were hacked to death by Nigeria’s Jihadists … [from] 1st Jan to 10th April 2023.”

Guy who supports the sexual mutilation of children calls out Meloni over LGBTQ+ record

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called out Italian leader Giorgia Meloni’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights in a meeting Friday on the margins of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.

“Obviously, Canada is concerned about some of the (positions) that Italy is taking in terms of LGBT rights,” Trudeau told Meloni, who was visibly annoyed, according to multiple media outlets.

“But I look forward to talking with you about that,” he added before the start of the meeting.

The public is fed up with open drug use in parks and downtown cores

An hour down the road from Vancouver is the U.S. port city of Bellingham, Wash.

Known for its craft beer and hippie vibe, it has long held a reputation for being one of the most progressive, laid-back cities in Washington State. Over the years, it has been a reliable ally of the Democratic Party at election time.

Which is why a recent move by the city council there is somewhat shocking: a decision to authorize police to arrest people who are injecting, ingesting or inhaling drugs such as fentanyl or methamphetamine on downtown streets.

‘We will not risk plunging our homes into darkness because of the ideological whims of others,’ says Saskatchewan premier

Rex Murphy: Scott Moe’s not buying any net-zero nonsense

Two and a half cheers for Scott Moe, premier of Saskatchewan.

In this current mad moment in Canadian politics, when the nation’s global warming synod (the high priest being the most frequent flyer in the country, Justin Trudeau) is handing out billions of dollars from an exhausted treasury to carmakers if they locate in Ontario, Moe has most sensibly held up a “hold on!” sign. Very daring, Mr. Premier.

More media madness: fake racism edition

The media LOVES LOVES LOVES to stir up racial hatred. It is their milk and honey, their French wine, their brie and baguette, and their chocolate mousse. Destroying the life of an innocent person, labeling them a racist hatemongering White supremacist is like a Prime Rib dinner with all the fixings, and if you get the person fired it’s time to pop the champagne.

The Ontario government will pay more to ensure that an electric vehicle battery plant is built in Windsor, Ont., Premier Doug Ford said on May 19.

The project was thrown in doubt earlier this week when European automaker Stellantis NV halted construction of the facility, saying the federal government had failed to provide it with the money that it had promised.
