WI attorney reacts to trans woman flashing male genitalia at girls in locker room shower: ‘Keep our kids safe’

Outrage ensued in a Wisconsin school district after an 18-year-old male-to-female transgender student allegedly got into the showers with four freshman girls and exposed their male genitalia to them at an area high school.

In a statement, an attorney representing the district admitted the incident should have never happened, but one legal group says the overall response to concerns raised by parents has been lackluster at best.

Why is there an increase of violence in Canadian public libraries?

The random acts of violence that are happening on our streets and in our transit systems in cities across Canada are also making their way into public libraries.

Local branches of all sizes are reporting an increase in verbal and physical violence. And for some, the pandemic made it even worse.

Over the past two years, one person died and six others were injured in a mass stabbing in a public library in North Vancouver. Last December, 28-year-old Tyree Cayer was killed during a visit to Winnipeg’s Millennium Library. Four teenagers were charged in his death. And two branches of the Saskatoon library were closed temporarily because of concerns about staff safety.

Shocking revelation – Libraries are now ad hoc homeless shelters!

‘Why Doesn’t Anybody Talk About That?’: Bill Maher Says Most Shootings Are ‘Young Black Men’ Killing Each Other

“Like Chicago: Most of the shootings are young black men killing other young black men. Is that not correct?,” Maher responded. “Much more than what the cops do. Why doesn’t anybody talk about that? I mean, why aren’t there, you know, 100 giant black celebrities who would have the respect of those people saying ‘What are you doing to yourselves? Why are you killing each other?’”

GUNTER: Entire federal push for EVs and eco regulations a scam

… Sources at the city and EPCOR have warned me, too, that permits for 200-amp services will soon be cut off because the grid just can’t take more than a few homes per neighbourhood with rapid-charging stations.

Forewarned, we had an electrician come out Thursday to look at our wiring and panels. Boy did I learn quickly another reason why the forced conversion to EVs is doomed to fail.

Right off the top, the electrician said we can’t have 200-amp service because our neighbourhood has no overhead powerlines. Everything is underground.

The Communist Chinese ‘community centers’ in San Francisco, Nebraska and Houston suspected of secretly working for Beijing

A bland, two-story red brick building is surrounded by a perimeter fence in a nondescript neighborhood in Omaha. Passersby are greeted by a modest billboard that reads: Welcome To Nebraska Chinese Center.

In the heart of San Francisco’s bustling Chinatown, wedged next to a Chinese jewelers and an oriental restaurant, lies the Chinese American Association.

And in Houston, the Chinese Civic Center covers 22,800 sqft of an industrial estate, boasting a function room, library, and dozens of classrooms.

Pierre Poilievre is in trouble in Quebec, and he has himself to blame

MONTREAL — More than six months after his election as Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre has yet to meet Quebec Premier François Legault one on one.

That stands in stark contrast with his two immediate predecessors. Notwithstanding the pandemic, Erin O’Toole and Legault met face-to-face less than a month after the former became leader in August 2020.

Andrew Scheer showed up for a meeting with the premier two short weeks after the CAQ was first elected to government in 2018.

Or maybe Quebec just isn’t worth the effort.

The Global Balance of Population and Power Is Shifting

The UN recently announced that India will become the most populous country in the world, surpassing China by the middle of this year. That’s only the tip of the iceberg in a massive global shift in population that will alter the balance of world power in the next 30 years.

China lost population last year for the first time in six decades. As Axios reports, China will eventually end up in the same boat as Japan — an aging population with a workforce insufficiently large to care for it.

Rex Murphy: Elon Musk and Twitter are the least of CBC’s worries

I see where Brodie Fenlon, editor in chief and executive director of programs and standards for CBC News — wow, that’s a title — took umbrage at Elon Musk for labelling the national broadcaster as government-funded (which the Twitter chief later rescinded ). Since umbrage is a supply-constrained commodity, Fenlon have might spared it for uses closer to home. Musk and his (playful/snarky) comments are among the very least and lowest challenges for the CBC.

Portland squatters terrorizing neighborhood destroy Farmer’s Barn Tavern with fire

An abandoned Portland tavern burned to the ground this week in a blaze sparked by squatters who had been harassing the crime-riddled community for more than a year.

Firefighters tried in vain Wednesday to beat back flames that consumed the former Farmer’s Barn Tavern in north Portland, which neighbor Dusty McCord said was “clearly a time bomb waiting to go off.”

He said squatters have been menacing the neighborhood since they besieged the bar that closed in 2018, threatening residents with guns, sometimes physically attacking them — and frequently cutting down trees to make campfires.

Canada’s defence spending hasn’t made it a NATO pariah — but that could change, ex-diplomat warns

Canada’s apparent unwillingness (or inability) to meet NATO’s defence spending target has not dented the country’s reputation among its allies, one of the country’s former top diplomats told MPs recently.

But the longer the war between Russia and Ukraine lasts, the more impatient other nations are likely to become, said former Canadian ambassador to NATO Kerry Buck.

Buck made her remarks before the House of Commons defence committee on Friday — just days after a report in the Washington Post, citing leaked Pentagon intelligence documents, said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told allies that Canada will not meet NATO’s defence spending benchmark of two per cent of national gross domestic product.

I suspect it was diplomatic courtesy.

Taibbi: Media Ignoring Developments on Hunter Laptop Letter Shows We‘re Becoming Like USSR Where Media ‘all Lies‘ with ‘No Real News‘

On Friday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “The Record,” journalist Matt Taibbi stated that the lack of mainstream media coverage of the “massive story of national consequence” of former acting CIA Director Michael Morell’s role in the letter claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian misinformation is an example of how “we’re starting to come to” the “same situation” as in the Soviet Union where “nobody read the newspapers because it was all lies and there was no real news in [them].”

Refugees, asylum seekers make up nearly a third of Toronto’s shelter population

Thousands of refugee claimants are in homeless shelters across Toronto, as stays grow longer amid a housing affordability crisis and a lack of federal support for an increasing number of asylum seekers.

According to city data, refugees and asylum seekers accounted for 30 per cent of total occupancy in the municipal shelter system as of March, with average stays reaching four to six months. The pressure on the shelter system has prompted the city’s government to press Ottawa for more funding. And while support for 2023 is included in the recent federal budget, it is not a permanent commitment – as has long been called for.

Russia advising citizens to avoid traveling to Canada, citing attacks

Russia is advising citizens to avoid travel to Canada, citing what it calls numerous cases of discrimination against Russians, including physical violence, its foreign ministry said on Saturday.

Canada is one of the most vocal backers of Ukraine in the war against Moscow’s forces and has imposed sanctions on hundreds of Russian officials and companies as well as wide-scale trade bans.

The Crypto Detectives Are Cleaning Up

Early adopters thought cryptocurrencies would be free from prying eyes. But tracking the flow of funds has become a big business.

Before a new breed of cryptocurrency detectives helped bring him down, Ryan Felton marketed his crypto scheme with a grandiose promise: He was creating “Netflix on the blockchain.”

He called the crypto-themed streaming service FLiK. For a small amount of the popular digital currency Ether, customers could purchase a FLiK token, which would give them access to shows and movies broadcast on the new platform. Mr. Felton described the project as an “entertainment revolution”; crypto enthusiasts bought more than $2 million worth of FLiK coins.

But the streaming business never materialized. Instead, Mr. Felton bought a $1.5 million house, along with $32,000 in diamonds. He spent $180,000 more on a red Ferrari.
