Tom Mulcair: Why all the fuss about Twitter’s description of CBC?

Why all the fuss about Twitter describing the CBC as “government-funded media”? The CBC is government-funded media. It matters little if it’s 69 per cent or 70 per cent It’s a simple fact that it is majority government funded.

It doesn’t mean it’s bad quality media. It doesn’t mean that its journalists are incompetent (some of the best journalists I’ve met in my long career work for the CBC). It doesn’t mean that all of its shows are lousy. It doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t continue. It just means that it’s a government-owned creation of Parliament, not a private outfit.

‘BLM was a form of mass neurosis’

The so-called racial reckoning of 2020 has had an extraordinary impact on the US. Barely a single institution was left untouched by the Black Lives Matter juggernaut. We can see this in the meteoric rise of affirmative action. Meritocracy is out and racial preferences are in – everywhere from universities to major corporations. All too often nowadays, people are openly judged on the basis of their race, rather than on their qualities and qualifications.

Is the US losing global credibility? Here is the answer…

You won’t read this on the front page or even hear it discussed; but, over the last few weeks, we have seen significant economic moves against the West.

This has, indirectly, and concerningly, security implications.

Brazil, Russia, India, China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, countless African nations, and even France have turned against the United States and its allies, via the US dollar.

John Robson: Jagmeet Singh the fool on the hill

Is Jagmeet Singh a fool? It may not be our most important public policy question today, which would be something like “Is Canada’s Prime Minister a Chinese Communist pawn?” or “Is liberalism the ideology of Western suicide?” But it keeps coming up, most recently when the NDP voted with the Liberals to shut down a Parliamentary committee inquiry into CCP donations to the Trudeau Foundation. And it matters whether public events are driven primarily by cunning or folly.

Singh is a grifter nothing more.

Islamophobia galore In Canada say usual suspects

Islamophobia widespread in Canada, early findings of Senate committee study indicate

Islamophobia and violence against Muslims is widespread and deeply entrenched in Canadian society, early findings from a Senate committee studying the issue indicate.

Muslim women who wear hijabs – Black Muslim women in particular – are the most vulnerable, and confronting Islamophobia in a variety of public spheres is difficult, the committee on human rights has found.

“Canada has a problem,” committee chair Sen. Salma Ataullahjan said in a phone interview with The Canadian Press.

How to stop the Islamization of America

“Freedom Is Not Free,” and it takes vigilance to keep it free. Islam believes the opposite and must not be ignored.

The more I read about Islam, the more concerned I have become about its threat to democracies everywhere. I truly understand how it is that the people in Islamic nations cannot question Islam for fear of death, but I cannot for the life of me see how an educated person can fall victim to this falsehood. I thank Anwar Shaikh for my awakening to Islam being an imperialistic doctrine, as opposed to a religion.

“Freedom Is Not Free,” and it takes vigilance to keep it free. In the past, I spent many hours contacting American Congressmen to get our country off dependence on Middle Eastern oil. Fortunately, America is now a major exporter of oil and gas.

Portlandia No More

“Portland is not Portlandia anymore.”

It’s something we say around here, and it resonates, because the series starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein was both popular and infamous depending on who you talked to and their opinion of the effect the show had on Portland. But the civic time and tenor depicted on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) series is definitely history now.

Chalk it up to that standard conservative talking point: the decline of Blue cities under Democratic “leadership.”

The Media’s War on Florida Heats Up

Don’t believe anything you read about the Sunshine State until you fact-check it yourself.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s unofficial motto, outlined in his New York Times bestselling book, is to make America Florida. The GOP primary—and, if DeSantis wins it, the general election—will be a referendum on Florida. So the media are selling a dishonest narrative that Florida is a repressive and awful state—one where books get banned, the word “gay” can’t be spoken, black history is forbidden in schools, and migrants, LGBTs, and other oppressed groups live in fear for their lives.

Trump Endorses Using Military to Crush Cartels: ‘I Would Do That’

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively that he supports a proposal from Reps. Michael Waltz (R-FL) and Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) that would authorize the use of military force against Mexican drug cartels to target the criminal enterprises and dismantle them.

There is no question Mexico is a Narco state.

The drum beat for military intervention has grown louder of late.

Biden Has Abandoned the Middle East to China and Russia

The Biden administration may have lost interest in the Middle East, but it is not a sentiment that is shared by rival powers such as China and Russia.

While U.S. President Joe Biden has shown nothing but contempt for long-standing allies in the region, both China and Moscow have been quick to exploit Washington’s wilful neglect to their own advantage.

By far the most startling change to the political landscape of the Middle East has been Beijing’s role in negotiating the restoration of diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, two countries that, until recently, were sworn enemies.

The State Department is running this, Joe has his hands full with the Tapioca file.

Meta tells employees to work from home as it prepares to ax 10,000: ‘Hunger Games have begun’

Meta told its North America-based employees to work from home Wednesday as it geared up for a second round of layoffs that will immediately cut 4,000 jobs — part of a plan to eventually cull 10,000 jobs.

Facebook’s parent company told managers that announcements on the layoffs — part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s plan to make the firm more efficient — would be made as soon as Wednesday, according to Bloomberg News.

I don’t celebrate anyone losing their job but like Twitter Meta is a peopled with SJW’s who think nothing of denying others the right to free speech.

Two members of Mohammedan Murder Cult ISIS that were set to return from Syria with their spawn held and mistreated by guards instead, lawyer says

Two Canadian women and three teenage girls who were set to be repatriated from camps for family members of ISIS suspects in Syria were instead detained and mistreated by their Kurdish guards rather than being taken to their pick-up point, their lawyer says.

The women have been missing ever since the repatriation flight to Canada took off without them more than 10 days ago.

Edmonton lawyer Zachary Al-Khatib told CBC News that one of the women was able to make a short phone call to a relative Tuesday before the line dropped after 4 minutes.

Charlottesville torch marchers face criminal charges six years later

Nearly six years after an infamous far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, three demonstrators have been indicted on felony counts.

The men are charged with burning an object with the intent to intimidate.

Hundreds of protesters carrying torches marched at the start of the “Unite the Right” rally in August 2017.

The events brought together far-right and white-nationalist groups. One protester was killed in the violence that followed.
