GUNTER: Social giant’s ‘government’ label for CBC has Trudeau all a-twitter

They made Justin cry.

You can sympathize with the CBC’s outrage at being designated “government-funded” media on Twitter.

The CBC and its defenders (including the prime minister and several cabinet ministers) have shrieked and wailed and hyperventilated all week that CBC only gets $1.24 billion of its annual budget from the federal government. The other $651 million it earns all on its own.

Why is Justin Trudeau sowing confusion about a foreign influence registry?

Asked this week about the need for Ottawa to create a foreign influence registry, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the internment of Japanese-Canadians in the Second World War and warned against the dangers of creating “registries of foreigners in Canada.”

The one thing has nothing to do with the other, as we will show. So the question becomes, why is Mr. Trudeau sowing confusion about a registry that exists in the United States and Australia, and which, somehow, has not led to the mass incarceration of citizens in those countries?

Race baiting is what Trudeau does.

Intel Leak: Disguised Chinese Spyware Still Sold to U.S. Government

U.S. officials are concerned that Beijing has potentially compromised American defense agencies via banned video surveillance equipment sold in disguise to government suppliers, according to the recently leaked Pentagon documents.

One of the leaked documents (written by the Defense Intelligence Agency, DIA) names the Chinese video surveillance camera producer Hikvision, which has been banned in the U.S. under the National Defense Authorization Act since 2019, purporting that the company frequently engages in “white-labeling”—a process in which their products are being rebranded by resellers in order to access markets that are restricted for the original brand.

Jesse Kline: Educators shocked Doug Ford wants students to learn to read and do math

The Ontario government’s new bill to give the province more control over school boards, in order to get back to focusing on reading, writing and arithmetic, is welcome news for parents who are concerned that schools are increasingly focused on indoctrination rather than education. The fact that the left-wing media and those involved in the education system are so perplexed about why reform is necessary highlights how out of touch they really are.

Taking over the boards is a good start but unless they are prepared to shut down the insane teacher’s colleges like OISE and bust the union there is no hope for public education.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has once again changed Canadian public broadcaster CBC’s Twitter designation in an update Tuesday morning following a strong reaction from Canadian politicians and members of the public.

Looks like they spoke to liberal politicians, CBC employees and their families.

Freeland’s Disney+ comment made her a villain, records show

Once upon a time, Chrystia Freeland attempted to relate to Canadians’ cost-of-living concerns with a personal anecdote — and it didn’t produce a fairy-tale ending.

“I personally, as a mother and wife, look carefully at my credit card bill once a month, and last Sunday I said to the kids, ‘You’re older now. You don’t watch Disney anymore. Let’s cut that Disney+ subscription,”‘ Freeland told Global News in an interview that aired on Nov. 6.

She went on to say: “I believe that I need to take exactly the same approach with the federal government’s finances, because that’s the money of Canadians.”

The real case for defunding the CBC isn’t the one Pierre Poilievre is making

The case for reforming medicare is not so that we can get even with the doctors. Yet that – reform as vengeance – is essentially the basis of Pierre Poilievre’s campaign to defund the CBC. The CBC says things that conflict with Conservative Party dogma. Therefore, a Conservative government will take away its funding. It isn’t a lot more complicated than that.
