Why ghost guns are America’s fastest-growing gun problem

Manuel Yambo had never heard of a “ghost” gun until his 16-year-old daughter was killed by one.

He was at home, getting ready for work, when he got a call that every parent dreads. His daughter Angellyh had been hit by a stray bullet near her school. Before he could get to the hospital, another call came in: She was dead. He didn’t believe it until he saw her for himself.

It was just a few months ago that Angellyh was celebrating her sixteenth birthday, dancing with her father wearing a pink gown and a crown.

Canadian MP upset CSIS knew about his meetings with dodgy diplomat

Canadian MP felt ‘shadow of doubt’ after spy agency warned him about diplomat

A veteran Canadian MP met three times with the ambassador of a country in the crosshairs of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, leading CSIS to warn the parliamentarian away from further interactions, CBC News has learned.

“You just cast a shadow of doubt over everyone,” the MP said, speaking confidentially because he was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

“Once you have that doubt placed on you, I don’t know how you recover.”

CBC News is not identifying the country in question in order to protect the MP’s identity.

CBC and the MP seem to suggest CSIS was out of line by doing their job.

Trudeau Foundation ‘collateral damage’ of Poilievre’s partisan attacks, says Oil Can Harry

The former Liberal cabinet minister who oversaw the creation of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation claims Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is engaging in “ignorant, irresponsible and highly partisan” attacks.

Poilievre called for an investigation into the foundation earlier this week, posting on Twitter about a need to know who “got rich” as a result of donations to the foundation, as well as “who got paid and who got privilege.”

Ukraine – Trading with the enemy

The Ukraine government, headed by Volodymyr Zelensky, has been using American taxpayers’ funds to pay dearly for the vitally needed diesel fuel that is keeping the Ukrainian army on the move in its war with Russia. It is unknown how much the Zelensky government is paying per gallon for the fuel, but the Pentagon was paying as much as $400 per gallon to transport gasoline from a port in Pakistan, via truck or parachute, into Afghanistan during the decades-long American war there.

What also is unknown is that Zelensky has been buying the fuel from Russia, the country with which it, and Washington, are at war, and the Ukrainian president and many in his entourage have been skimming untold millions from the American dollars earmarked for diesel fuel payments. One estimate by analysts from the Central Intelligence Agency put the embezzled funds at $400 million last year, at least; another expert compared the level of corruption in Kiev as approaching that of the Afghan war, “although there will be no professional audit reports emerging from the Ukraine.”

My cat

… Is dumb. Or how I set up an accident waiting to happen.

Got on the step stool last night to affix a ribbon to the overhead fan as the receiver is toast and no longer responds to the remote.

Xavier’s 6 foot cat tree was located only a couple of feet behind me as I worked.

Of course I risked a haircut by keeping the fan at full tilt while I tied the pull string.

Engrossed in my work I failed to see Xavier climbing his tree.

Next I felt claws in my shoulder and then heard and felt Xavier getting whacked by the fan blades before he fell to the floor at which point he scampered under the bed.

Fortunately he was more scared than hurt. A treat lured him out and he consented to an exam.

He’s OK. I think we’re both stupid.
