The Toronto District School Board was duped into sending $1 million to fraudster who ‘can barely spell’

The Toronto District School Board is trying to recoup more than $1 million in public funds it lost in a cyberscam that experts say was “highly preventable.”

The public school board says a fraudster represented themselves as a long-time contractor for school renewal projects and tricked the TDSB into wiring $1.08 million to a Toronto-Dominion Bank account.

The TDSB has not publicly disclosed the 2024 fraud, which the Star discovered in reviewing court records.

It was cancelled just in time, but questions remain: Why was such an event approved in the first place? And why isn’t the school board reviewing its vendor screening procedures?

Arabic ‘O Canada’ on October 7 is institutional capture

A Toronto high school’s decision to play an Arabic version of “O Canada” on Oct. 7 — the two-year anniversary of Hamas’s massacre of 1,200 and kidnapping of 251 in southern Israel — was not an act of inclusion. It was a calculated political statement.

The only official versions of “O Canada,” as defined by the federal National Anthem Act, are in English and French. Other languages may be shared culturally, but never as a replacement. The decision to broadcast an Arabic version on Oct. 7 by Earl Haig Secondary School was an unmistakable act of defiance.

Some of us Islamophobes have been pointing out this ‘institutional capture’ for years. Decades even.

Our school boards and  provincial government first decided that anti-White hatred was an acceptable part of school curriculum.

Anti-White hatred opened the door to the antisemitism we see today.

WEIDONG PEI: I’m a TDSB trustee and here’s why I support the overhaul of the boards

On June 27, the Ontario government placed the Toronto District School Board under provincial supervision, vesting the powers of the Board of Trustees into a ministry-appointed supervisor.

But as a fellow trustee, I believe not only that supervision is not a threat, but that relieving us of our duties is the only way to bring accountability back to a school board that has been failing students and families for far too long.

TDSB teacher allegedly showed Charlie Kirk assassination video to 10- and 11-year-olds, told students he deserved to be killed

A public school teacher has been suspended after allegedly showing a video of Charlie Kirk’s assassination to students as young as 10 in his class, authorities in Canada said.

The teacher also suggested that Kirk deserved to be killed, and gave the young students a speech about anti-fascism and transgender issues, according to a report.

“Several students from his class went home and complained to their parents, traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over,” a source told the Toronto Sun after the shocking incident at a school in Toronto on Thursday.

The group of Black girls were chatting in the hall on their way to their next class when a teacher told them to hurry.

When the students didn’t immediately speed up, the same teacher allegedly said: “Oh, what if it was a bucket of fried chicken? You’d be running.”

Examples like these came up again and again while Olivia Bernard, a University of Toronto PhD student, researched the experiences of Black female students at a Black Creek-area high school in 2021 and 2022.

Both studies sound like their ‘findings’ were based on the made up stories of mischievous kids well schooled in perpetual victimhood by the TDSB itself.

It’s no secret that the TDSB’s racist DEI program has labeled White people and especially white Christians and Jews as immutably racist oppressors based solely on their skin colour and religions.

The same policies that have made Jewish students feel unsafe have also created inhospitable environments for Hindu, Christian and Asian students, she said, adding that the human rights department at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) trains staff on “who qualifies as an oppressor,” singling out Christians.

For example, woke math pedagogues decided it was more important to elevate the status of Indigenous “ways of knowing” as a means of combatting alleged white supremacy than it was to preserve the traditional, and effective, instructive teacher-student “settler” model.

The decision comes as more than 230 frustrated parents and community members issued an open letter Monday to their local trustee over the blocking of a student-organized screening of “No Other Land,” a documentary by Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers on the destruction of a Palestinian community in the occupied West Bank.

TDSB Told: Balance your budget or be taken over, education minister warns Toronto school board

The Toronto public board needs to balance its budget or the province will step in and take over, Education Minister Paul Calandra threatened as trustees there push back against the $58 million in cuts they need to get out of the red.

“The Toronto District School Board has been running multi-year deficits. What they’re being asked to do is find savings of less than two per cent on an over $3 billion budget,” Calandra said Thursday during daily question period, adding it could be “finding savings by reducing the amount of superintendents that they have, by going after the $35 million of paid leave that they have.”

Toronto’s public school board is investigating allegations that a lunchroom supervisor showed graphic video of the war in Gaza to kindergarten kids, leaving students traumatized and parents outraged.

The incident is alleged to have occurred last week at Alexander Muir/Gladstone Ave Junior and Senior Public School, and the lunchroom supervisor is currently on leave.

“These allegations are very troubling and a thorough investigation is underway to understand what occurred,” said Ryan Bird, spokesperson for the Toronto District School Board.

Michael Zwaagstra: Toronto Students Suffering Under Woke School Board

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is the largest school board in Canada. It might also be the most woke. The telltale sign of wokeism is an obsession with race, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Woke ideology elevates these characteristics above everything else—including excellence and merit.

This is why in 2022 TDSB trustees changed the admissions criteria for their specialty arts and sports schools from a performance-based standard to a random lottery system. Trustees argued that this change promotes “equity” for all students. What it really did, of course, was lower the average skillset of students in these schools, since they can no longer screen applicants based on skill.

Racists run the TDSB.
