Dishwasher blues …

6 maybe 7 years ago we purchased a Bosch dishwasher from Lowes, it was the cheapest model and ran about 700 bucks after taxes.

It  ran fine until last night when it shut down and displayed an E27 Error code.

I am wondering if after 7 years it makes sense to repair or replace given the life expectancy of modern appliances is 10 years at best.

At this point I have no idea what the repair cost may be but recall that when our dryer had to have a little plastic part replaced it cost us 400 bucks as did our washer when it started to leak after the drum seal began to fail, (incidentally the seal has begun to fail again and I am careful to not overload the washer.)

Your thoughts?

‘Alcoholic’ Labrador becomes first dog treated for addiction

An ‘alcoholic’ Labrador became the first dog being treated for alcohol addiction after vets scrambled to save him and another dog hooked on booze that was left out by their dead owner.

A male puppy named Coco came to the Woodside Animal Welfare Trust suffering from canine alcohol withdrawal, which the animal shelter said was ‘a first’ for them.

The animal rescue in Plymouth, Devon, added that Coco, a two-year-old Labrador cross, has been with them for over a month, having required intensive care since arriving as part of his ‘tragic’ journey.

Poor pup, though I’m not surprised it’s a Lab.

Bilingualism dropping in Canada, while feds spend billions promoting French

Over the past two decades, bilingualism declined in Canada despite spending billions in grants to promote French outside of Quebec, according to a department of Canadian Heritage report.

“The viability of francophone official language minority communities remains fragile,” said the report Evaluation of the Official Languages Support Programs 2004-2021.

What Is Our Military For? It’s not for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

That question should answer itself. But, in the current environment, that answer has become more and more obscure. The proliferation of top-down, politically motivated directives from the Biden administration detracts from military preparedness and saps the ardor and unity from members of our military. The effects can be seen in the current shortfalls in recruiting and the sharp drop in public confidence in the military.

Bill Maher, Russell Brand point to Dems to call out condemnation of European parties with ‘far-right’ roots

HBO host Bill Maher called out the media for its “apoplectic” response to the election of what papers called Italy’s “far-right” Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the comparisons the liberal press made to fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.

Outspoken actor, comedian, and wildly successful podcaster Russell Brand joined Maher on “Club Random” and noted how the term “far-right” has been thrown around in recent years.

Mexico and other top US trading partners looking to ditch the US and join the BRICS?

Just how bad is it getting with Joe Biden’s weak leadership driving the U.S.’s friends and allies away?

Well, we know that China is racking up a string of diplomatic victories across the world, for one.  We also know that the dollar is being abandoned as a choice unit of global trade and the world’s reserve currency — in moves seen by China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq, and others, which is evidence enough that there’s a problem with full faith in the U.S. currency.

New J. Edgar Hoover Biography Tacitly Urges Purging The FBI Of Christians And Conservatives

J Edgar Hoover – Gay Boy In Bondage

In February, an FBI memo was leaked labeling traditional Catholic Christians as potential terrorist threats. The memo also implied those who attend the Latin Mass are potentially racists.

Catholic leaders quickly complained at the injustice of the pretext for surveillance of their coreligionists, noting the grave First Amendment infringement of the FBI surveilling conservative Christians and that Latin Masses draw Catholics from many ethnic groups. Even left-wing Catholics came to traditionalists’ defense.

‘Satire is the enemy of tyranny’

The past few years have felt borderline dystopian. Covid lockdowns emptied cities and forced us apart from friends and family. Woke fervour has exploded on to the streets and has captured our institutions. We are constantly bombarded with propaganda telling us that normal, everyday views and behaviour are either racist or transphobic – or are a threat to the climate or public health. But despite the strangeness of this New Normal, there have been very few artists or satirists willing to really question any of it. Indeed, most of the artworld appears to be very much on side with this new regime.

Capitalism has corrupted the Easter egg

Britain’s Christian chocolatiers are losing faith

Britain’s first chocolate Easter egg was sold 150 years ago this year, by the chocolatier, Joseph Fry. It was hollow and filled with sweets. Whether Fry’s primary interest was in the egg as a Christian symbol, or whether the creation of a hollow egg was a means of showing off the new technique he had developed for moulding chocolate is, well, a chicken and egg question.

Las Vegas Tops Nation as Eviction Crisis Spreads Across America

On a Tuesday afternoon in March, Holly Harris slid onto a long wooden bench inside a downtown Las Vegas courtroom. Cradling a colorful stack of papers, she braced for what seemed inevitable.

A hearing officer would soon decide whether to evict the 31-year-old and her four children from their apartment. Outside, in the family’s silver minivan, her mother watched two of her babies as Harris flipped through the pages of eviction notices, maintenance requests and paystubs documenting the most recent months of her tenancy.
