Justin Trudeau is trying to control what Canadians see on the internet

The internet has been one of the greatest tools for the free flow of information in human history. But for our neighbors up north, it might not remain so useful for much longer — if Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gets his way.

Trudeau and his allies are pushing forward with legislation known as the “Online Streaming Act” that would enact government mandates controlling what Canadians see on major online platforms such as YouTube.

Germany rules out any further weapons deliveries to Ukraine

Defence minister says Germany ‘cannot give everything away’ to Ukraine as their military is beset by shortages of equipment

Germany’s Defence Minister has ruled out sending any further weapons or equipment to Ukraine, admitting that the Bundeswehr will already not be able to replenish its stocks by 2030.

Blighted by chronic underinvestment since the end of the Cold War, the German army is now in even worse shape after having sent equipment, ammunition and vehicles like the Leopard 2 main battle tank to the battlefields of Ukraine.

“To put it bluntly, like other nations, we have a limited inventory,” said Boris Pistorius.

3 Public Servants’ Security Clearances Revoked Due to Spying or Acting as Foreign Agents: Federal Records

Federal departments and agencies have revoked the security clearances of three employees for spying or acting as foreign agents, records show, though their identities and the governments they served were not disclosed.

The details were provided in response to an Inquiry of Ministry. Conservative MP John Barlow, who submitted the inquiry on Feb. 9, wanted to know how many public servants have had their security clearances revoked for cause since 2016, and how many were due to individual spying or otherwise acting on behalf of a foreign government.

Germany Halts Afghan Refugee Admissions Amid Abuse Claims

The typically open boarders government of Germany announced a temporary halt on admissions of asylum seekers from Afghanistan after claims that some migrants may have been abusing the system.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that the country would be halting asylum applications for Afghan nationals on a temporary basis after sources within Berlin indicated that some may have tried to abuse the system.

France: Man Receives 4-Year Prison Sentence for Cathedral Arson Attack

A French criminal court has handed a four-year prison sentence to a Rwandan national after finding him guilty of setting fire to the Saint-Paul and Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Nantes in July of 2020—an act which resulted in severe damage to the Gothic church, whose construction began in 1434.

… On Wednesday, March 29th, the court ruled that Abayisenga—who is also facing legal action for another incident in which he is believed to have murdered Father Olivier Maire in April 2021 in the western department of Vendée—was not mentally sound during the time that he set fire to the cathedral.

“Unprecedented” Chinese Genetic Experiment May Lead To Army Of Radiation-Resistant Super Soldiers

Reports out of China continue to confirm that scientists there are still seeking to push through barriers with Frankenstein-like experimentation on genes with an eye toward the manipulation of human DNA – any and all ethical considerations be damned. What could go wrong?

The Hong-based South China Morning Post has a doozy of a headline out this week based on a breakthrough announcement by a team of scientists linked to the Chinese military, working in Beijing: “Chinese team behind extreme animal gene experiment says it may lead to super soldiers who survive nuclear fallout.”

The Skewed Nashville-Shooting Coverage

On this Friday edition of The Editors, Rich, Charlie, and MBD are appalled at the skewed media coverage in the wake of the horrific shooting at a Christian school in Nashville.

Charlie doesn’t think he’s “ever seen an incident such as this one in which the perpetrator has been treated, reflexively, as if she were the victim. It seems to me that the press just writes the same thing, whatever happens. If a Christian had killed six transgender people, what would look different about the headlines in media segments that we’ve seen? . . . I can’t move for pieces about how this has ‘sent a chill through the transgender community.’ I have seen precisely zero pieces about how this has and should have scared Christian children.

Time to ban the LGBT flag in public places?

With the most recent shooting of innocents at a Nashville, Tennessee religious school by Audrey Hale, a female attacker who claimed to be male, it is past time to ask the question, “Should the LGBT and trans pride flags be banned from public places?”

Given the Marxist demands to ban the Confederate Battle, “Betsy Ross,” and Gadsden flags in public spaces following the death of known drug-dealer and convicted felon George Floyd and the resulting six killed and nearly 2,000 law enforcement officers injured and over two billion dollars in damage to public and private property by Antifa and Black Lives Matter terrorists, the time has come to look at banning a true symbol of hate and derision in our republic: the LGBT and trans pride flags.

U.S. Marshals Were Banned From Arresting Leftist Supreme Court Protesters

This is what a tyranny looks like.

A culture of authoritarian lawlessness is one in which there are two very different standards.

Everyone has probably seen the videos of gun control activists and transurrectionists storming legislatures. But even well before Jan 6, massive BLM riots, including a direct attack on the White House, had politicians and the media denouncing the use of force against the mostly peaceful rioters. Gen. Milley has spent the rest of his career atoning for walking with Trump to the Church of Presidents which BLM had tried to burn down.

America’s desperate dysfunction

Trump is both cause and symptom of the US crisis

In his short story A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, Ernest Hemingway describes a deaf old man who likes to sit in the terrace of his favourite cafe late into the evening drinking brandy, much to the frustration of a young waiter who just wants to go home. “He can buy a bottle and drink at home,” the waiter snaps to his colleague, refusing to give the old man a final top up. “It is not the same,” the older waiter replies. “This is a clean and pleasant café. It is well-lighted.”

No, the English countryside is not racist

The unrest in Leicester last year reminds us where our most pressing problems lie.

One of the more peculiar, recurring targets of racial identity politics is the English countryside. Hardly a week goes by without another thinkpiece arguing that rural England is a hostile environment for ethnic-minority people. And now alleged experts are being deployed to explore this supposedly dreadful, racist state of affairs.

Left Smears Ron DeSantis For Pointing Out The Truth About George Soros

After the indictment of Donald Trump finally fell, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis attacked the transparently partisan and “un-American” nature of a D.A. going after a presidential candidate with rickety 7-year-old campaign finance charges, noting that Alvin Bragg is a “Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney.”

That last bit is indisputably true. DeSantis didn’t contend that Bragg was “bought” or “under the thumb” of Soros — even though either would be completely within the norms of modern political rhetoric. He simply asserted that Bragg was “Soros-backed.”

#SeeItSayItIgnoreIt: Rape as “Non-Emergency”

Any migrants recently landed at Dover might be under the impression that the efficiency of our Border Force, chaperoning them to the latest stately home masquerading as an asylum centre, is indicative of the nation’s ability to get things done. Sadly, this is pretty much the extent of our public services: welcome to Britain, where nothing actually works. Not only is the UK’s public sector bloated out of all proportion, but its workers are also the least likely to show up in the morning (unless you count standing on the picket lines). If it’s not teachers, BBC journalists, university lecturers, or civil servants, it’s junior doctors going on strike—no wonder Ukrainian refugees are going home for treatment, rather than face the war zone of the NHS.

Inside the F.B.I.’s Jan. 6 Investigation of the Proud Boys

In March 2021, two months after the F.B.I. arrested Dominic Pezzola, a New York Proud Boy, on charges stemming from the Capitol attack, one of the lead agents on the case made an unusual confession. On Lync, the bureau’s internal chat system, she said she felt sorry for the man she had helped take into custody.

“Is it bad i almost kind of feel bad for Pezzola?” the agent, Nicole Miller, asked one of her colleagues.

When the colleague told her that Mr. Pezzola was in jail because of choices he had made, Agent Miller seemed to agree. But then, she snapped back into work mode.
