NPR: Lab Leak ‘One of the Biggest Conspiracy Theories…About the Virus’

National Public Radio has always dismissed the “lab leak” hypothesis regarding the origin of the coronavirus as a debunked, possibly racist conspiracy theory. If Trump implied China was responsible, “science” had to be the opposite. Now NPR and the rest of the media look ridiculous after the Department of Energy concluded the virus did indeed most likely arise from a laboratory leak in China, at the Wuhan Institute of Virology biolab, and not from a nearby wildlife market (the “zoonotic origin” theory).

Now Disney Says Bluebirds and Sunshine Are Racist, Too

The Orange County Register’s headline was another signpost along the way of our long march toward Racial Justice: “Disneyland quietly removes controversial lyric from new parade soundtrack.” That’s good, eh? It’s heartwarming to see the big corporations doing what must be done in order to ensure a just and equitable society for all. And so visitors to Disneyland will never again be subjected to having to hear these horrific racist lyrics: “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay / My, oh my, what a wonderful day / Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way / Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay.”

2 Ukrainian pilots are in U.S. to determine fighter jet skills

Two Ukrainian pilots are in the United States for an assessment of their skills in flying fighter jets, according to three people familiar with the discussions, even as administration officials say there are no plans to send F-16s to Kyiv for now.

During the program, which is taking place at an Air National Guard base in Tuscon, Ariz., the pilots have been flying aircraft simulators so the U.S. military can evaluate their flying and mission-planning capabilities, said the people, who were granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive effort. The pilots will not fly U.S. aircraft.

At the U.S.-Mexico border, desperate migrants have sights set on Canada

The gruesome, sobering video is played back on a cellphone for those sitting nearby. Once seen, it is impossible to forget.

Onscreen, a crocodile is drifting along a river in the Panamanian jungle with a half-eaten human leg hanging out of its mouth, a lifeless foot perched just above the giant reptile’s droopy eyes.

It was shown to CBC News by Venezuelan migrant Nelson Ramirez, as he and his wife, Yescee Urbina, wait for guidance on finding food and shelter at a migrant aid office in Juarez, Mexico. Their remaining worldly possessions sit at their feet — two small, scuffed knapsacks of clothing.

Inside the minds of the ‘race fakers’: The need to be a victim, disrupted childhoods and a desire for ‘hero status’

Through more than 15 years of fierce activism, Raquel Saraswati cemented herself as a champion of the oppressed.

A queer, Muslim woman of Arab, Latin and South Asian descent, Saraswati overcame crippling prejudice to become a celebrated voice for marginalized groups – and won a series of plaudits along the way.

Then, last week, the reputation she worked so hard to build came crashing down.

NDP candidate’s anti-Israel activism raises concerns in Hamilton Centre

Is it anti-Semitic to call the existence of Israel into question or to attend rallies with chants like “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free?”

Members of the Jewish community would say yes, Ontario’s NDP is saying no and defending their candidate in Hamilton Centre.

She’s a differently abled Israel hater!

Barbara Kay has a column in the Post detailing a sea change in Jewish attitudes toward self defense in the light of rising antisemitism. In Canada most of the antisemitism is from the left and their Islamist allies. It’s great that “Liberal” Jews are arming themselves, well in the US. In Canada maybe it’s time for the Jewish community to read the riot act to the Kumbaya Kool-Aid Bernies.

With rising antisemitism even liberal Jews are arming themselves

Antisemitism in the United States is on the rise. When neo-Nazis designated Feb. 25 as a “Day of Hate” targeting Jewish institutions, Jews were warned to be vigilant. The Anti-Defamation League responded by calling on Jews and their allies to “join together by creating a Shabbat of Peace.” Forgive my cynical eye-rolling at this virtuous but futile reflex. When sewer rats clamber boldly upwards into the streets, it’s time to look beyond pious platitudes.

NDP not ‘ruling out’ making interference inquiry a must for continuing Liberal support

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he is not “ruling out” making a public inquiry into foreign interference a condition for continuing the governance deal with the federal Liberals, but says that is not a decision he is making just yet.

Singh told The Roy Green Show on Saturday that he plans to bring up the issue of foreign interference with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during their meetings on the confidence-and-supply agreement signed between the New Democrats and Liberals.

Ukraine war: Russian reservists fighting with shovels – UK defence ministry

Russian reservists are likely using “shovels” for “hand-to-hand” combat in Ukraine due to a shortage of ammunition, the UK’s Ministry of Defence says.

In late February, reservists described being ordered to assault a Ukrainian position “armed with only ‘firearms and shovels'”, the ministry said in its latest intelligence update.

It mentioned a shovel known as MPL-50.

The tool was designed in 1869 and had changed little, the ministry said.

“The lethality of the standard-issue MPL-50 entrenching tool is particularly mythologised in Russia,” the ministry said.

Chinese influence on Liberals means inquiry is unlikely

At the moment, there is no other topic in our nation more important than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s refusal to convene an unbiased public inquiry into the full extent of Chinese government meddling in Canada’s political process.

It’s not about whether the Chinese government or its surrogates “stole” the 2019 or 2021 elections on behalf of the Liberals. I would argue Andrew Scheer and Erin O’Toole were such ineffectual Conservative leaders, both elections were always going to go to the Liberals anyway.

‘His wife was f****** her son’s friend’: Chris Rock mocks Will Smith about Jada’s affair and says he didn’t retaliate after Oscars slap because he was ‘raised not to fight in front of white people’

Chris Rock unleashed a year of pent-up rage after being slapped across the face by actor Will Smith in his new stand-up comedy special Saturday night.

The dramatic moment occurred on air during the 2022 Oscars ceremony after Rock, who was hosting the event, made a comment about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.

But in his live stand-up special, Rock, 58, claimed that anybody who really knew about the circumstances surrounding the slap knew that it wasn’t actually about him — as he accused Smith, 54, of ‘selective outrage,’ lashing out because his wife had an affair.

Parents angry over ‘safe spaces’ for LGBTQ students disrupt York Catholic board meeting

Carlo Ravenna, one of the parents, spoke directly to the board about the stickers in a pre-approved deputation.

“They shouldn’t say ‘safe space.’ They should say ‘danger zone,'” he said at the meeting. “Preaching confusion in the guise of inclusivity and acceptance is truly disgusting.”

The parents say the stickers, and any LGBTQ-inclusive messaging, are at odds with their Catholic faith.

US military school goes to war over first black leader’s ‘woke’ policies

One of the US’s oldest and most esteemed military colleges is entangled in a culture war with alumni over its push to make the institution more welcoming to women and ethnic minorities.

The Virginia Military Institute (VMI), whose most famous graduates include Gen George Marshall and Gen George Patton, has been under scrutiny since an independent 2021 report found it failed to address institutional racism and sexism.

Cedric Wins, a retired army general, was later appointed as the VMI’s superintendent, the institution’s first black leader in its 183-year history.

Senator’s Claim That Chinese Canadians Face Discrimination and Exclusion Is ‘A Straw Man Argument’: Former Ambassador

We’ve identified the mole – Yuen Pau Woo China’s Man In Canada

Sen. Yuen Pau Woo’s claim that people of Chinese descent in Canada face “contemporary forms of exclusion and discrimination” is divisive and deflects from the Beijing regime’s true tactics, says a former ambassador.

“Senator say (sic) many Canadians hold stereotypical views of Chinese,” former Canadian ambassador to China David Mulroney wrote on Twitter on Feb. 16.

“The Senator is setting up a straw man argument that is dangerously divisive and that makes it harder to speak clearly about PRC [People’s Republic of China] tactics.”
