B.C. MPs unseated with help of ChiCom influence on 2021 election, reporting alleges

Former Steveston Richmond-East MP Kenny Chiu wasn’t surprised by new reports that the 2021 election campaign that unseated him was subject to covert interference from the China’s former consul in Vancouver.

He remains concerned, however, that Canada’s lack of response to increasing evidence that Beijing seeks to influence its diaspora communities with social-media disinformation campaigns sends the message to authoritarian regimes, such as China, “that we are weak, that we will take no action to protect ourselves,” Chiu said Friday.

I’m Shocked!

The truth behind the 300-year-old ‘Mermaid mummy’ ‘caught in the Pacific Ocean’ and worshipped for its immortality-giving powers

A mummified ‘mermaid’ that is worshipped in Japan has been exposed as nothing more than a fabrication of cloth, paper, and cotton decorated with fish parts.

The creature was allegedly caught in the Pacific Ocean, off the Japanese island of Shikoku, between 1736 and 1741, and is now kept in a temple in the city of Asakuchi.

Legend says it has the power to grant immortality, and during the Covid-19 pandemic it was worshipped in a bid to ward off the virus.

Ontario Teacher Investigated for Comments on Critical Race Theory Won’t Lose Her License

A teacher who was investigated by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) for her comments against the promotion of critical race theory (CRT) in schools is allowed to keep her teaching license after the college decided not to move her case to a disciplinary hearing.

In a tweet on Feb. 15, former high school teacher Chanel Pfahl announced that the OCT has completed its nearly year-long investigation without a finding of guilt, and chose instead to administer a brief “oral caution.”

Megyn Kelly: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ‘won’t recover’ from ‘South Park’ dig

Megyn Kelly says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle simply “won’t recover” from a recent “South Park” episode that mocked the exiled royals.

GOLDSTEIN: China’s assault on our democracy shouldn’t be state secret

Any strong words Trudeau may mouth about China are to be taken with a very large grain of salt.

What level of interference in Canada’s elections would China have to commit before Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government tells us about it?

According to reporting by Robert Fife and Steven Chase on Friday, CSIS documents seen by the Globe and Mail outline a highly organized campaign of interference in Canada’s 2021 election, where Beijing’s dictators had two goals — a Liberal minority government and defeating Conservative candidates viewed as anti-China.

Canada sending two small, slow naval ships to Haiti: Here’s what they might do there

Haiti is definitely a country in need. Armed gangs have taken control of much of the nation. Murder and kidnapping is rampant. And the government seems incapable of asserting its authority over the widespread lawlessness.

What’s less clear is how two small, relatively slow and lightly armed Canadian naval ships just deployed to Haiti can help alleviate its troubles — troubles that for the most part exist on land, not at sea.

Crown requests out-of-town judge to preside over convoy protest hearings for Barber, Lich

The Crown is requesting an out-of-town judge to preside over next month’s hearings for convoy leaders Chris Barber and Tamara Lich to “avoid any apprehension of bias” at trial and while considering Barber’s stay-of-proceedings application.

Barber’s lawyer, Diane Magas, filed an application to stay all charges against her client, accusing the Crown of “abuse of process” and trampling his right to a fair trial after the public disclosure of 4,000 pages of Barber’s private cell phone data.

Pentagon’s Anti-White Diversity Chief Comes up With a Novel Way to Excuse Her Own Racism

It’s all about privileged victimhood status.

The diversity, equity, and inclusion chief for the Defense Department’s schools is in hot water over what are being termed “racially disparaging” remarks, but Kelisa Wing is no Bull Connor. Wing, who actually describes herself as a “woke administrator,” has indulged in today’s most culturally acceptable form of racism: hatred of white people. She has belatedly drawn the attention of lawmakers for remarks she made back in 2020 and 2021 and is fighting back with an interview published Friday in Military Times. Her defense? She made her hate-filled and racist remarks as a private citizen, not as an employee of the Department of Defense. There, now, don’t you feel better?

Two Woke Authoritarians Make Their Exit

First New Zealand’s Jacinda Ardern, and now Scotland’s Nicola Sturgeon: the world’s chief nannies are quitting before voters have a chance to push them out. The pair thrived off imposing Covid restrictions, only to find far less sympathy for their blend of woke politics and authoritarian control in 2023. It seems that, freed from lockdowns, many people are no longer willing to be nudged, cajoled, hectored, censored, monitored, checked, and approved. Nor are they willing to sacrifice their rights, their children’s safety, and their standard of living to appease a leader’s appetite for hollow displays of virtue.

Now the speech police are coming for gamers

Today, free speech online is under siege from all angles. From the state, with its ever-expanding hate-speech laws. From tech companies, who see it as their moral mission to ‘protect’ users from ‘harm’. And from the media, who present the online world as a cesspool of ‘misinformation’ and ‘hate speech’, in need of ever-tighter moderation. Now these forces have combined, as part of a new push to regulate the interactions of online gamers.

Elon Musk Emerges as a Critic of World Government

Attendees of the World Government Summit at Dubai may be returning home with the slogan “Shaping Future Governments” ringing in their collectivist ears. Elon Musk, though, is emerging as the leader for those who see national sovereignty and individual rights as the best tools to safeguard liberty.

“I know this is called the World Government Summit,” YouTube records Mr. Musk, one of the richest men in history, telling the gathering, “but I think we should be maybe a little bit concerned about actually becoming too much of a single world government.” This set fire to the conventional wisdom that Big Government is good and the bigger the better.
