An electric Hummer and Caddy? Auto show offerings grow, but can infrastructure support an EV world?

… But the rapid rise in electric vehicle sales is about to bump into some very real limitations, say Jominy and other auto industry insiders.
Flavio Volpe, president of the APMA, points out that roughly a third of the Canadian population lives in multi-family buildings such as apartments or condo buildings, most of which don’t have dedicated charging stations. In downtown areas, even many single-family homes don’t have driveways, Volpe noted.
“You’re not going to be running a cable out to the street to charge your car,” said Volpe.
That kind of basic stumbling block makes Volpe wary of proposed regulations from the federal government which is aiming to have 20 per cent of all new vehicle sales be electric by 2026, and 100 per cent by 2035. The regulations also envision significant fines for auto companies for each non-electric vehicle sold below the target.
Why would Justin make policy on false infrastructure assumptions?
Because they can. You aren’t going to be driving anything.
That’s the goal.
Pretty strange when even the Star is pointing out the flaw in Junior’s Masterplan.
Michael Shellenberger: Normies unite! Toward a liberal-conservative alliance against Wokeism

People who worked in hospital clinics in the United States and Great Britain are blowing the whistle on the rush to prescribe puberty-blocking drugs and surgeries to children suffering from gender dysphoria.
Their claims are shocking: thousands of children, many if not most of whom may be gay, lesbian, or bisexual, and suffering anxiety disorders and autism, are being sterilized for a psychiatric condition that most will grow out of.
Just like “repressed memories.” A lot of lawsuits will be launched but what is really needed is a Nuremburg 2.0 for these maniac medicos.
Roxham Rd. asylum seekers are being transferred to Ontario because Quebec is full up!

QUEBEC — The vast majority of asylum seekers arriving at the Roxham Rd. crossing last weekend were transferred directly to Ontario, Quebec Immigration Minister Christine Fréchette revealed Tuesday.
On the same day the Quebec government upped the pressure on Washington to amend the Safe Third Country Agreement between Canada and the United States to cover irregular crossing points, Fréchette said Ottawa has taken heed of Quebec’s position that it has reached its maximum capacity when it comes to asylum seekers.
The “Islamophobia” Regime

If the nearly uniform narrative offered in a spate of recent books about “Islamophobia” is to be believed, Western Muslims, who enjoy freedoms denied to their brethren in most places in the world, are being tyrannized by hateful white Westerners afflicted with an irrational “phobia” of Islam and its adherents, which drives them to blithely reenact the crimes their ancestors perpetrated in previous centuries against indigenous peoples in Africa, Asia, and the Western hemisphere.
In these books, Muslims living in the West are the hapless victims of oppression, and their non-Muslim neighbors are the eternal oppressors. Accordingly, these oppressors can only offload their burden of civilizational guilt (and the punishment it invites) by confessing their sins (and those of their ancestors), engage in acts of contrition, and convert, either to Islam itself or to a political agenda that acquiesces in Islamist assaults on the rights historically accorded to citizens in Western democracies. Under this arrangement, the only rights that need to be protected are those of Muslims; non-Muslims have no rights, only rules and liabilities.
Study shows ‘striking’ number who believe news misinforms

NEW YORK (AP) — Half of Americans in a recent survey indicated they believe national news organizations intend to mislead, misinform or persuade the public to adopt a particular point of view through their reporting.
The survey, released Wednesday by Gallup and the Knight Foundation, goes beyond others that have shown a low level of trust in the media to the startling point where many believe there is an intent to deceive.
Asked whether they agreed with the statement that national news organizations do not intend to mislead, 50% said they disagreed. Only 25% agreed, the study found.
Revealed: the hacking and disinformation team meddling in elections

A team of Israeli contractors who claim to have manipulated more than 30 elections around the world using hacking, sabotage and automated disinformation on social media has been exposed in a new investigation.
The unit is run by Tal Hanan, a 50-year-old former Israeli special forces operative who now works privately using the pseudonym “Jorge”, and appears to have been working under the radar in elections in various countries for more than two decades.
He is being unmasked by an international consortium of journalists. Hanan and his unit, which uses the codename “Team Jorge”, have been exposed by undercover footage and documents leaked to the Guardian.
‘Liberal’ ChatGPT is censoring the The Post’s Hunter Biden coverage, too

The popular new artificial intelligence service ChatGPT refused to write a story about Hunter Biden in the style of the New York Post — but gladly spit out a CNN-like puff piece protective of the president’s embattled son.
It is the most recent example of the futuristic AI’s liberal bias, which seems to have been programmed in by creator OpenAI.
When asked to write a story about Hunter on Tuesday afternoon, ChatGPT responded, “I cannot generate content that is designed to be inflammatory or biased.”
Ottawa bans all research funding with Chinese military institutions

The federal government has banned all research funding with Chinese military and state security institutions and urged the provinces and universities to adopt similar guidelines.
Innovation Minister François-Phillipe Champagne announced late Tuesday the government has instructed the Canada Foundation for Innovation and Canada’s federal research granting councils, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, as well as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to screen funding requests from China and other hostile states.

Mississauga temple vandalized with hateful graffiti
Mayors Patrick Brown and Bonnie Crombie, and the Consulate General of India in Toronto, stated denunciations of the defacing of Mississauga’s Ram Mandir, which has been attacked in a manner akin to the defacing of another Hindu temple two weeks ago.
The top elected officials in Mississauga and Brampton both said that the Peel Regional Police are investigating.
Trudeau’s Mass Immigration Scam: Canada needs to build 50% more homes to accommodate immigrants even though over 50% of “permanent residents” can’t be bothered to become citizens

40% decline in permanent residents becoming Canadian citizens since 2001, data shows
StatCan numbers reveal the percentage of permanent residents who become Canadians has plummeted over the past 20 years.
The Institute for Canadian Citizenship says Statistics Canada data points to a 40 per cent decline in citizenship uptake since 2001.
In 2021, nearly 45.7 per cent of permanent residents who’d been in Canada for less than 10 years became citizens.
That’s down from 60 per cent in 2016, and 75.1 per cent in 2001.
“But ultimately, what’s changing is that people have decided that they’re less interested in being `Team Canada.”’
So we have to build 50% more housing for people who don’t want to stay here.
Canada needs to build 50 per cent more homes as Ottawa plans for higher immigration levels: report
As Canada prepares to ramp up immigration levels, a new report says the country will need to build 50 per cent more housing than what’s already being planned.
The report, published by economists from Desjardins on Monday, says in order to keep up with the federal government’s immigration targets without causing substantial increases to home prices, 100,000 more homes need to be constructed annually in 2023 and 2024.
“Increasing the housing supply beyond the typical demand response would also take pressure off prices but requires extraordinary policy intervention and resolve,” the authors wrote. “Indeed, we estimate that housing starts would have to increase immediately by almost 50 per cent nationally relative to our baseline scenario and stay there through 2024 to offset the price gains from the increase in federal immigration.”
Masses are let in who regard Canada as nothing more than a stepping stone to elsewhere.
Canada’s immigration policy is a scam that does not benefit citizens.
Woke researchers call for term ‘fitness’ to be banned because it is ‘ableist’

Woke researchers have called for terms such as ‘fitness’ to be revised as part of a crackdown on ‘harmful terminology’ in science.
The team of experts from the US and Canada said the word is vague and ableist — discriminatory against people with disabilities.
The recommendation applies to the field of biology, where fitness is used to describe reproductive success in certain species.
RCMP Tight-Lipped on Scale of CERB Fraud Investigations

The RCMP confirmed on Feb. 14 that investigations are ongoing with regards to individuals who defrauded the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), but wouldn’t say on what scale.
“The RCMP confirms that it has received fraud complaints from the Government of Canada in relation to its Covid programs,” spokesperson Cpl. Kim Chamberland told The Epoch Times.
“As there are ongoing investigations, the RCMP cannot provide additional details at this time.”
Startup aimed to reshape media – and learned ‘news is hard’ the hard way

Two-year-old Canadian local news startup had heady plans when founded, but now trims jobs while execs snipe at workers on Twitter
Nearly two years ago, a journalism startup made bold promises to reshape community news in Canada, announcing plans to hire more than 200 journalists and open 50 new publications across the country.
But this month, as they culled nearly half the staff from their most successful publication, executives from the Overstory media group admitted that – despite the cascade of recent failures across the industry – they had thought turning a profit in local journalism would be “a lot simpler”. The job cuts have raised larger questions over the company’s future, and about that of alternative models of experimental journalism.
Anyone ever hear of this company?
GREEN: Trudeau government still peddling COVID misinformation

A new report from the non-profit Cochrane Library in the United Kingdom, a clearinghouse of health-care information, confirms that most of what the government insisted people do during the pandemic were useless in preventing COVID infection or reducing COVID severity.
