Next month, you’ll see a dip in your take-home income due to a tax hike — that is, unless your employer takes extra steps to prevent it.
“The upcoming 2023 increase in payroll taxes will mean every Canadian worker will see up to $305 less in take-home income on January 1, unless their employer is able to make up the difference,” the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) said in a press release.

Tories maintain lead over Liberals as gap slightly widens, new poll shows
A new poll suggests the Tories still have a small lead over the governing Liberals and have slightly widened the gap.
The poll conducted by Leger over the weekend says 33 per cent of respondents would vote for the Conservatives and 30 per cent would vote for the Liberals if a federal election was underway.

The Bank of Canada is moving out of its research phase into a central bank digital currency and going into the development phase, its governor said on Dec. 12, with consultations on the issue to take place with Canadians in 2023.

Idaho authorities retrieved hours of footage from a Moscow gas station Tuesday that reportedly captured a white sedan speeding by the night four college students were killed at their nearby home, according to a report.
The surveillance footage could potentially be of importance as just last week Moscow police announced that they were looking for the occupants of a white Hyundai who may have “critical information” in last month’s murders of four University of Idaho students.
Defence Minister Anita Anand has unveiled what she describes as “an ambitious roadmap” to reform the Canadian Armed Forces’ culture amid what experts have called a sexual misconduct “crisis.”
In a new report tabled to Parliament on Tuesday, Anand said she had directed the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces to pursue “an all-hands on deck effort” to address the dozens of recommendations made by former Supreme Court of Canada justice Louise Arbour when she released her long-anticipated report into the culture of the Canadian military in May.

OTTAWA – Retired Supreme Court justice Louise Arbour accused military leaders of dragging their feet when it comes fighting sexual misconduct in the ranks on Tuesday, even as Defence Minister Anita Anand staked her reputation on their success or failure.
Arbour delivered her scathing indictment to the House of Commons defence committee six months after issuing dozens of recommendations to improve the military’s handling of inappropriate and criminal sexual behaviour.
