Ministers’ teams don’t always agree with the RCMP’s assessments of danger levels

The RCMP’s close protection unit is running short of the specialized officers it needs to protect elected officials, undermining its ability to respond to federal ministers’ growing demands for security services, new figures show.

In the Ottawa region alone, 75 positions out of a total of 315 in the RCMP’s protection unit are unstaffed — a vacancy rate of 24 per cent — according to data obtained by Radio-Canada. Similar vacancy rates afflict the RCMP’s close protection units in other parts of the country, the RCMP said.

Several RCMP and government officials said the shortage of officers is complicating the force’s efforts to protect the prime minister, the Governor General, Supreme Court justices, diplomats and foreign dignitaries.

Nova Scotia touted its huge ‘green’ energy plant. Turns out it’s powered by coal

In mid-September, the government of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia announced a blockbuster, 5bn-watt “green” hydrogen plant.

The plant was meant to deliver 200,000 tonnes of ammonia to Europe each year, without the use of fossil fuels.

Heading into November there is no prospect green power will be available by the time the EverWind Fuels facility begins operations, the Energy Mix and Halifax Examiner have learned in a joint investigation in partnership with the Guardian.

In fact, the project touted for its potential to convert wind-generated electricity into a badly-needed green product will be powered partly by coal, at least in its first years of operation.

Environmentalists Against Recycling

A study by leftists shows it’s useless.

Anew report exposes much of recycling as an empty ritual geared more at cleansing consciences than the planet.

The publisher of the study? Greenpeace.

“The plastics and products industries have been promoting plastic recycling as the solution to plastic waste since the early 1990s,” the report explains. “Some 30 years later, the vast majority of U.S. plastic waste is still not recyclable. The U.S. plastic recycling rate was estimated to have declined to about 5–6% in 2021, down from a high of 9.5% in 2014 and 8.7% in 2018, when the U.S. exported millions of tons of plastic waste to China and counted it as recycled even though much of it was burned or dumped.”

Doug Ford breaks silence on why he is refusing to testify at Emergencies Act inquiry: a ‘federal’ matter

Premier Doug Ford has finally broken his silence about why he is refusing to testify at the public inquiry into the invoking of the Emergencies Act during the Ottawa “Freedom Convoy” protest.

Ford — who has ducked reporters and opposition MPPs since it emerged the commission of inquiry has summoned him and former solicitor general Sylvia Jones to appear — faced the music Wednesday.

“This is the federal inquiry into the federal government’s use of the federal Emergencies Act,” the premier said during the morning question period in the legislature.

End the honour system for Indigenous self-identification

Often used for university and job applications, practice allows non-Indigenous people, be it innocently or cynically, to benefit wrongly.

On my application to McGill, one of the first questions I was asked was whether I self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis. As someone who not only self-identifies, but more importantly, actually is First Nations, I checked the box, and that was it.

RCMP, government vehicles set on fire in ‘targeted attack’ in Smithers, B.C., police say

Four RCMP cruisers and several government vehicles, including an ambulance, were burned in a hotel parking lot in Smithers, B.C., early Wednesday in what police are describing as a “targeted attack on emergency service vehicles.”

RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said eight vehicles were damaged or destroyed by fire outside the Sunshine Inn in the central B.C. town, which lies around 300 kilometres west of Prince George.

Photographs of the scene show a charred cruiser and pickup with RCMP markings.

No doubt right wing extremists. I bet this disappears into the memory hole like the Coastal GasLink attack.

America’s ‘Acute’ Foreign Policy Disarray

The confusion and lack of clarity in the current administration’s foreign policies are growing ever more dangerous for US national security.

President Joe Biden’s recently released National Security Strategy labels Russia as an “acute” threat to U.S. national security. Yet the administration continues, with the support and encouragement of the EU, its futile attempt to restart the Iran nuclear deal, using Russia as its proxy negotiator. One can only wonder how the Biden administration believes the U.S. can negotiate this type of agreement using a nation we actually recognize and label an acute threat to work out the details with a nation—Iran—we label as a “persistent threat.”

Trio of ‘Wolverine Watchmen’ convicted in plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Three members of a fringe paramilitary group were convicted on Wednesday of aiding a plot to kidnap the Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2020 over COVID-19 restrictions they viewed as oppressive.

The plotters – Paul Bellar, Joseph Morrison and Pete Musico – were convicted of trying to help Adam Fox carry out the kidnapping after a state court trial.

The prosecution in Jackson County, a Republican stronghold west of Detroit, grew out of a sprawling state and federal investigation into the plot.

IRAN: 15 Reported Dead at Holy Site Shooting, Anti-Regime Protests Continue Countrywide

At least 15 are dead in Iran following a sectarian attack by gunmen at a Shiite holy site on Wednesday.

Add yet another wrinkle to the country’s anti-regime actions that have been going on for weeks around the Mullah’s religious dictatorship.

Iranian state TV claimed that three Sunni Muslim extremists known as “takfiris” descended on the Shah Cheragh mosque in the southern city of Shiraz, shooting and killing at least 15 people, presumably worshippers.

A Canadian soldier who has publicly spoken out against the forced removal of hundreds of unvaccinated Armed Forces members is facing more charges.

Warrant Officer James Topp is now facing six counts of conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline after the army reservist’s commanders laid four new charges against him last week.

Swedish military takes another look at Nord Stream blasts

Sweden’s Armed Forces said on Wednesday it had begun new inspections in the Baltic Sea at the sites of suspected explosions that ruptured the Nord Stream pipelines last month.

“The Swedish Armed Forces are this week carrying out complementary seabed surveys at the gas leaks with minesweepers,” the armed forces said on Twitter. “The investigation is done at our own initiative and is not part of the police investigation.”

Military officials did not want to be drawn into what sparked the new probe. “I can’t comment on what we are looking for, why we are there; but we had the need to come back to do an additional search,” a spokesperson for the military said.

Is Twitter dying? Heavy tweeters account for just 10% of its users despite generating 90% of all tweets, new internal documents reveal

In April, before launching his long-winded $44 billion takeover bid, Elon Musk posed the question: ‘Is Twitter dying?’

He may have been on the money, as new internal documents show that the social media platform has had an ‘absolute decline’ in users since the pandemic.

The report, obtained by Reuters, reveals ‘heavy tweeters’ make up less than 10 percent of the site’s monthly users, but generate 90 percent of all the content and half of the company’s revenue.

It’s dying. So is META.

New Email Reveals Answer To Establishment’s Efforts To Oust Trump

An FBI email previously not known to the public has revealed that the bureau planned to make Igor Danchenko—the primary source for British former spy Christopher Steele’s Trump dossier—a confidential human source (CHS) before it had even interviewed him.

The revelation, which was discovered as a result of special counsel John Durham’s case against Danchenko, indicates that the FBI deliberately targeted 2016 presidential candidate and later President Donald Trump with claims it already knew at the time to be false.

The email—of which only the subject line has been made public—was first uncovered by an internet sleuth who goes by the moniker “Walkafyre” and was included in hundreds of unused exhibits from Danchenko’s trial.
