United Nations: Israel ‘Overwhelmingly‘ to Blame for Palestinian Terror

Israel is “overwhelmingly” to blame for the Arab-Israeli conflict and Palestinian terrorism, a controversial United Nations probe concluded on Tuesday.

“The findings and recommendations relevant to the underlying root causes [of the conflict] were overwhelmingly directed towards Israel, which we have taken as an indicator of the asymmetrical nature of the conflict and the reality of one state occupying the other,” stated Navanethem Pillay, who is heading the UN’s Commission of Inquiry investigating Israel.

US tourist throws scooter down Rome’s Spanish Steps, causing €25,000 damage

An American tourist has caused €25,000 (£21,000) worth of damage after hurling her electric scooter down Rome’s Spanish Steps.

The incident was filmed by a passerby in the early hours of Friday. Police later caught up with the 28-year-old and fined her and a 29-year-old male companion, who had wheeled his e-scooter down the 18th-century marble steps, €400 each.

Typical mortgage payment could be 30% higher in 5 years, Bank of Canada warns

High house prices and debt loads associated with them are a major vulnerability to Canada’s economy, the Bank of Canada said Thursday, warning buyers who bought during the pandemic that the impact of even slightly higher mortgage rates could be dramatic.

In its Financial System Review, the central bank said that while the country’s financial system is strong and weathered the pandemic well, the economy remains vulnerable because of elevated debt levels tied to the country’s increasingly expensive housing market.

“Even as the average household is in better financial shape, more Canadians have stretched to buy a house during the pandemic,” Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem said Thursday. “And these households are more exposed to higher interest rates and the potential for housing prices to decline.”

The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart Insists It’s OK For Black People To Be Scared Of ‘Crazy White People’

Imagine picking up a copy of the Washington Post (as if you ever would) and reading the headline, “Why White people are afraid of ‘crazy’ Black people.” Setting aside the obvious reasons that would come to mind, you’d immediately realize you were dreaming and wake up, because the Post would never run such a thing.

But it would and did publish the inverse in a column this week by the thickly spectacled Jonathan Capehart. “Black people are not afraid of White people,” he wrote. “We’re afraid of ‘crazy’ White people.”

The enemies of peace want Arabs and Muslims to remain in a continual state of war with Israel. They want more violence and bloodshed, not Arabs and Muslims and Jews working together in various fields, including technology or anything that might bring economic prosperity.

Does the Biden administration really want as its legacy that it was the first in American history to be for oppressors and against human rights, freedom and prosperity for the downtrodden?

President Duda excoriated Germany’s Scholz and France’s Macron for warning against “humiliating” Putin over the invasin of Ukraine. He accused them of legitimizing Russian atrocities.

Polish President Andrzej Duda slammed the leaders of both Germany and France for their phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin, comparing it to maintaining a direct line with Adolf Hitler during World War II.

In an interview published in Thursday’s edition of German best-selling newspaper Bild, Duda questioned what Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Emmanuel Macron thought was to be gained by the calls as Russia continues to bombard civilian targets in Ukraine.

Multiple killed after ‘mass shooting’ at Maryland factory

A number of people were killed during a “mass shooting” at a factory in Maryland on Thursday, reports said.

There were “multiple fatalities” in the shooting that took place around 2:30 p.m. at Columbia Machine in Smithsburg, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was also shot at the scene by police.

Reports indicate 3 dead with the shooter wounded and in custody.

Top Gun: Maverick betrays Hollywood’s weakness in China

Thirty-six years after flying high in the 1980s original, Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to the adventure-thriller film in which Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer fight baddies for the US Navy, is breaking box office records in America.

Besides spectacular dogfights with fighter jets, it is getting praise for another reason. When a trailer for the film was released in 2019, Taiwanese and Japanese flags were removed from Cruise’s bomber jacket – appeasing Beijing (which claims Taiwan and disapproves of Japan) but upsetting Americans.

But when Paramount released the film late last month, it had reinstated the flags. Americans and Taiwanese cheered. Some critics claimed this was evidence Hollywood was finally standing up to China.

Amid Poilievre criticism, BoC governor says he’ll ‘leave the politics to the politicians’

While Conservative leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre has called for his removal, Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem says he will “leave the politics to the politicians.”

“We welcome diverse views, we welcome analysis, we welcome criticism of our work and our decisions,” said Macklem. “Canadians should be asking us tough questions.”

Poilievre has said he would fire Macklem if he became prime minister, criticizing him for record high inflation, record high housing prices and the bank’s quantitative easing program, which Poilievre says is “money printing.”
