Coronation or actual race? Strategists divided over whether to hand Poilievre the Conservative leadership

Should the Conservative Party proceed to a quick coronation of Pierre Poilievre or hold an actual leadership race?

Conservative strategists and commentators who spoke to the National Post are torn between holding a quick leadership race and gearing up for the next election, or opting for a longer contest with the outcome being harder to predict.

Likeable but will anything really change?

NDP calling for emergency debate on trucker convoy

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is calling for the House of Commons to hold an emergency debate on the ongoing trucker convoy standoff in downtown Ottawa.

In a letter to House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota, Singh said later today he will be seeking approval for the special debate, which could happen as early as Monday evening.

After a second weekend of protests and an uptick in tickets and arrests, the city of Ottawa declared a state of emergency on Sunday.

Removing trucks could be almost ‘impossible,’ say heavy towing experts

Heavy-duty towing experts say it will be difficult or impossible to remove the hundreds of heavy trucks entrenched in Ottawa’s downtown — unless the drivers allow it.

CBC counted 40 trucks on Kent Street and 109 on Wellington Street Friday, with dozens more on other streets spread around the downtown core. Then on Saturday, Ottawa police said 500 heavy trucks were in the so-called “red zone.”

Trucker Lloyd Crowe from Picton, Ont., has been parked just a couple of blocks away from Parliament Hill since last weekend, but he’s not worried about being towed.

Ontario reports some new Covid cases … and ‘learning to live with COVID’

Ontario reports some new Covid cases … and ‘learning to live with COVID’

Ontario reports 11 more deaths in people with COVID-19 but hospitalizations, case counts and outbreaks continue to decline

Ontario is reporting its lowest number of new COVID-19 deaths in nearly a month, as hospitalizations, case counts and outbreaks continue to decline.

The Ministry of Health reported 11 new deaths in individuals who had contracted COVID-19 on Monday, which is a notable decrease from the 32 deaths reported at this time last week

Experts weigh in on shifting public health messaging on ‘learn to live with COVID’

TORONTO – Ontarians have recently started hearing their top health and government officials speak of “learning to live with COVID-19,” but it doesn’t mean immediately returning to life as it was in 2019 and authorities should be refining their message, experts say.

Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, is now using the phrase, as are Toronto’s top doctor, Ontario’s health minister and Premier Doug Ford.

Trucker convoy: 11th day marked by arrests; Injunction against horns returning to court

In an interview on CTV Morning Live on Monday, Mayor Jim Watson called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government to appoint a mediator in an effort to end the “Freedom Convoy” occupation in the city’s downtown.

Watson said he has suggested to federal ministers that a mediator could be “an honest broker on both sides to try to find some common ground, if that’s possible.”

“Someone of great stature in our community and the country who can actually open doors and bring some peace and calm to the situation,” Watson told CTV Morning Live.

GoFundMe self-immolates on the back of the Canadian truckers’ strike

Big Tech’s embrace of wokesterism has left it full of idiots.

Which brings us to GoFundMe, the popular fund-raising platform, which shut down a $10 million cash haul for the striking Canadian truckers on some kind of political correctness ground, or rather “violation of terms of service.” They saw that the bid to help truckers was popular. They saw the money roll in.

Does European Multiculturalism Threaten Women’s Rights?

Somali-born writer Aayan Hirsi Ali sees Dec. 31, 2015 as a turning point in Europe’s fraught relationship with multiculturalism. On that date, 1,500 men, mostly newly arrived asylum seekers of Arab and North African backgrounds, converged on downtown Cologne, where thousands of Germans had gathered to welcome in the New Year. The men mobbed together to entrap and sexually assault women and girls, often stealing their wallets and mobile phones in the process. In the months that followed, 661 women and girls reported being separated from their male companions and being pushed inside “hell circles” of young men who groped them without regard to their age, appearance or circumstances. Some women said they were pinned to the ground for 30 minutes of continual assault.

On New Year’s Day, the Cologne police issued a statement that the evening had been largely peaceful. An outpouring of reports on social media left the authorities–and the media–no choice but to discuss the attacks publicly and release information on the background of the assailants.

What Happens When Our Prisons Go ‘Woke’?

Indoctrinating corrections officers in critical race theory will make a difficult, dangerous job even tougher.

Diversity training is hot right now. And you may have heard that employers are doubling down on the concept, forcing their employees to take additional and more aggressive forms of “equity and inclusion” training.

Increasingly, government HR departments are pushing the same agenda as the private sector. Colorado’s state prison system embraced some of the worst forms of these programs. It began requiring all corrections officers to undergo shockingly racist “DEI” (diversity, equity, and inclusion) training, so they could apply what they had learned in their work with inmates. The lessons even caused some corrections officers, like our client, former sergeant Joshua Young, to leave their jobs.

Justin Trudeau Shows How Manipulative and Pathetic the Global Elites Are

Every word he says he is a lie. A nose as long as the trucker‘s convoy.” Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

When thousands of truckers drove toward Ottawa in protest against the vaccine mandates, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau described them as “the small fringe minority” holding “unacceptable views.”

As the movement gained momentum and the truckers were joined and cheered on by scores of their compatriots objecting to Canada’s regime of Covid oppression, Trudeau implied that they were racists and Nazis. This he added on top of his earlier characterization of those who object to his policies as misogynists, science deniers, purveyors of misinformation, and conspiracy theorists.

How realistic is the prospect of a ‘quantum apocalypse’?

A new generation of fear entrepreneurs in the IT industry are promoting anxieties and fatalism about the threat quantum computing poses to the future of encrypted data, cyber-security and our way of life.

You can’t make this stuff up. Just when we can breathe a sigh of relief as we appear to have overcome the Covid pandemic, ‘the quantum apocalypse’ draws us back into new anxiety about life on Earth – just like Al Pacino in ‘The Godfather’ trying to escape his criminal past, but being pulled back in.

However, this is not a Hollywood movie. It is a real thing. And just like the doomsday predictions of environmentalists, ‘the quantum apocalypse’ is being presented as a real existential threat to life as we know it.

How Many U.S. Agencies Are Funding Peter Daszak and EcoHealth Alliance Pulling Viruses Out of Animals?

EcoHealth Alliance CEO Peter Daszak just got another taxpayer-funded windfall. Instead of being deposed regarding his firm’s work at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, he is receiving a new pile of cash from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The new award gives EcoHealth Alliance $4,675,023 for a five-year project in Liberia, on the continent of Africa. USAID awarded the funding well after serious questions surfaced about EcoHealth Alliance’s coronavirus research. There are ample concerns about whether those activities violated the Obama administration’s ban on gain-of-function research even if they did not create the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

California-born figure skater Beverly Zu who defected to ChiComs crashes and burns

The American-born Chinese figure skater who gave up her US citizenship and changed her name to compete for the Communist country at the Winter Olympic in Beijing fell twice during the women’s short program team event – to the scorn of many her adopted country.

Beverly Zu, 19, who changed her name to Zhu Yi, finished with the lowest score of the event at Beijing’s Capital Indoor Stadium after she failed to land a jump and fell on the opening combination, and botched another jump later in her short program.

Big Tech vs the working class

GoFundMe’s withholding of donations to the Canadian truckers is a foul, classist attack on democracy.

We need to talk about GoFundMe’s withholding of millions of dollars from the Canadian truckers protesting against vaccine mandates. This is union-busting 21st-century style. This is a multimillion-dollar company using its corporate clout to starve working-class activists of funds. This is a signal from Silicon Valley, clear and loud, that it will wield its power to crush any form of political agitation from ‘the lower orders’ that pushes too hard against the political consensus. Anyone who thinks this clash between a profit-making fundraising website and drivers pissed off at being pushed around by Covid authoritarians is just another weird online spat needs to think again. This is far more than that. It is a scoping out of the battlelines over freedom and power that are likely to define the internet era.
