Ontario reports 591 new COVID-19 cases, 7 more deaths

Ontario reported nearly 600 new COVID-19 cases and seven more deaths on Wednesday as the seven-day rolling average of new infections continued to rise.

Provincial health officials logged 591 new coronavirus infections today, down from 613 on Tuesday but up from 512 a week ago.

Assisted death only for vaccinated, German euthanasia association says

A statement put out by the Hamburg-based group on Friday reads “assisted suicide and the preliminary examination of a patient’s ability to make decisions freely implies physical closeness between people. However, that is precisely the precondition for the spread of Covid.”

Anyone wishing to be euthanized now has to first present proof of vaccination or recovery from Covid, as per the new guidelines issued by Germany’s euthanasia association.

Wisconsin: Child becomes sixth fatality in car-ramming

A man accused of ramming a car into Christmas parade-goers in Wisconsin on Sunday is to be charged with six deaths after another victim – a child – died.

Darrell Brooks, 39, wept in court as he was charged with five counts of intentional homicide. Prosecutors said further charges would be filed.

Police say Brooks drove in a “zig-zag pattern” to hit as many people as possible at the Waukesha parade.

Bail was set at $5m (£3.7m) due to his extensive criminal background.

Americans of all races have benefitted from the right to self-defence.

Before the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, we heard that the baby-faced teenager was a racist vigilante. We were told he drove across state lines, from his home in Illinois to Kenosha, far away in Wisconsin, with an illegally acquired assault rifle. Apparently his sole intention was to cause trouble at a Black Lives Matter protest.

On 25 August 2020, Rittenhouse fatally shot two men, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and severely wounded another, Gaige Grosskreutz. Last week, he was acquitted on all five charges associated with the shootings, on the grounds of self-defence. The trial not only established Rittenhouse’s innocence – it also overturned the media narrative completely.

Leadership at a prominent Catholic university in the US is being accused of blasphemy over its endorsement of a painting that depicts Jesus with the face of George Floyd.

The painting, ‘Mama’ by iconographer Kelly Latimore, evokes the Christian imagery of Pieta, showing the Virgin Mary mourning with the dead body of Jesus in her arms. Latimore’s version depicts the two as black people, and Jesus has the features of Floyd. The Catholic University of America (CUA) welcomed a print of the image at its School of Law in May, putting it on display at Mary Mirror of Justice Chapel, but the decision proved controversial.

Caroline Downey at National Review brings us yet another horror story delivered by the progressive policymakers in Washington state. While still not codified in official policy, Washington previously began allowing male prisoners to request transfers to the state’s only exclusively women’s prison (the Washington Corrections Center for Women) if they claimed that they were transgender. This resulted in at least six recent cases of transfers, including defendants who had been convicted of sex crimes against female victims. With that information as a backdrop it’s difficult to see how this horrible headline was anything but inevitable.
