Alex Murdaugh has been arrested on his release from rehab in Florida for allegedly syphoning off a $4.3 million settlement meant for the sons of his housekeeper, who died in a mysterious ‘trip and fall’ at his home in 2018.

Murdaugh, who was charged last month over a botched hitman scheme, and is a person of interest in his wife and son’s double murder, was taken into custody Thursday morning in Orlando by agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The 53 year-old had been in the city to receive treatment for an opioid addiction after being bailed on the hitman charges on September 17. Cops did not disclose the name of the rehab facility he had been staying at.

I don’t know if any of you have followed this “saga” it gets more bizarre by the week.

Hunter’s laptop contains more bad news for “the Big Guy”

I’m old enough to remember when the New York Post’s Twitter account was suspended for weeks because they reported on news about Hunter Biden’s infamously abandoned laptop computer during the 2020 election. The same fate awaited many accounts that simply linked to the story. It was news “unfit to print,” to coopt a phrase from the New York Times. CNN refused to allow any mention of it on their website or during their 24-hour coverage of the race. So isn’t it strange that now, with the election safely behind Joe Biden, that lost machine is still coughing up intriguing bits of information, some of it dating back to Joe Biden’s stint as Vice President under Barack Obama?

‘Terrifying Terminator s**t’: Robotics firm equips ‘robo dog’ with night-vision SNIPER RIFLE

A robotics firm and a gun manufacturer have joined forces to produce what amounts to an animatronic ‘dog’ with a sniper rifle for a face, managing to terrify more than a few netizens after unveiling the new device at an Army expo.

Dubbed SPUR – or the Special Purpose Unmanned Rifle – the robotic canine packs a gun where its head should be, chambered for 6.5mm Creedmoor rounds, as was first reported by the Drive. The system was developed by rifle producer SWORD International and Ghost Robotics, a Philadelphia-based firm founded in 2015, and made its first-ever appearance this week at the main annual convention for the Association of the US Army in the nation’s capital.

North Korea’s Kim Jong-un faces ‘paradise on Earth’ lawsuit

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un should pay damages for a 1959-84 scheme that saw more than 90,000 people move there from Japan, a Tokyo court is hearing.

Supreme Court orders new trial for Ontario man in fatal shooting of First Nations member Jon Styres

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that Peter Khill, a Hamilton-area man who was initially acquitted in the 2016 shooting death of Jon Styres, must face a new trial.

The trial judge failed to give instructions to jurors on the way in which Khill’s role in the shooting should be used to assess the reasonableness of his conduct, Justice Sheilah L. Martin, in writing for the majority, said in the decision released Thursday.

“Mr. Khill’s role in the incident should have been expressly drawn to the attention of the jury,” Martin wrote. “The absence of any explanation concerning the legal significance of Mr. Khill’s role in the incident was a serious error.”

Neighbour wins privacy row over smart doorbell and cameras

A judge has ruled that security cameras and a Ring doorbell installed in a house in Oxfordshire “unjustifiably invaded” the privacy of a neighbour, in a case that could have implications for home surveillance devices.

Dr Mary Fairhurst claimed that the devices installed on the house of neighbour Jon Woodard broke data laws and contributed to harassment.

The judge upheld both these claims.

Mr Woodard now faces a substantial fine.
