The island is slipping from China’s control

Over the weekend, China sent waves of warplanes racing towards Taiwan in numbers not seen before, forcing the democratic self-ruled island to scramble fighters and ready its air defense missiles. The United States says it is ‘very concerned’ by Beijing’s ‘provocative’ actions and reiterated Washington’s ‘rock solid’ commitment to the island.

According to Taiwan’s defense ministry, 38 Chinese aircraft, including nuclear-capable bombers and J-16 fighter jets, entered its air defense identification zone on Friday, and another 39 did so again on Saturday — the largest incursion to date.

Hmmmmm – China could mount full-scale invasion by 2025, Taiwan defence minister says

China will be ready to mount a full-scale invasion of Taiwan by 2025, the island’s defence minister has said, describing current tensions as the worst in 40 years.

Speaking to the China Times on Wednesday, Chiu Kuo-cheng said China was capable now but would be completely prepared to launch an invasion in three years.

“By 2025 China will bring the cost and attrition to its lowest. It has the capacity now, but it will not start a war easily, having to take many other things into consideration,” he said.

ISIS-K suicide bomber was released from prison by the Taliban just DAYS before killing 13 US service members

The ISIS-K suicide bomber who set off an explosion outside Hamid Karzai International airport and slaughtered hundreds of people was freed from prison just days earlier by the Taliban, it was revealed Wednesday.

In the final days of the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan, a blast ripped through the crowd outside Kabul airport. It killed 13 US service members and more than 170 Afghans.

The man who carried out the bombing was imprisoned at the Parwan prison at Bagram Air Force base 11 days before the devastating attack, House Rep. Kevin Calvert (R-CA) and two other US officials told CNN.

Federal public servants, RCMP and air and rail travellers must be vaccinated by month’s end, Trudeau says

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unveiled his government’s mandatory vaccine policy today — a mandate that will require public servants to either get their shots by month’s end or be forced into an unpaid leave of absence.

All would-be travellers must also be fully vaccinated by Oct. 30 before boarding planes, trains or marine vessels.

Federal contractors, like cleaning staff, must also be fully vaccinated to gain access to government buildings. The estimated 267,000 employees covered by this policy must report their vaccination status by Oct. 29.

I’m betting a lawsuit or two will be in order.

White House Weaponizes DOJ Against Parents

At the behest of school boards that equate disgruntled constituents with domestic terrorists.

It should be obvious that no sane parent would ever allow ideology to supersede the proper education of her children. Yet, during the past year, it became clear that many of the nation’s school systems are indoctrinating students with politically tendentious curricula that most of the public considers . . . well . . . insane. This produced widespread protests by parents of all political persuasions to which school boards have responded with stunning hostility. The magnitude of this animus was revealed this week when the National School Boards Association (NSBA) equated parents with “domestic terrorists” and the White House directed the DOJ to investigate them as such.

When prosecutors won’t prosecute, what can cops do?

Yet again, the Chicago Police Department finds itself at loggerheads with State’s Attorney Kim Foxx about charging a criminal with a crime. First, it was low-level crimes that Foxx declined to prosecute. Then it was celebrity nonsense, with the Jussie Smollett hate-crime hoax. Next, it was the murder of a little girl. And now, it’s a deadly gang shootout. The larger issue is whether the police (and the public) have any options when a prosecutor refuses to prosecute, even when the evidence for guilt seems overwhelming.

Afghanistan’s female lawyers are on the run from men they prosecuted

Until August, Farishta was an influential prosecutor who exercised her power for a cause. She prosecuted criminals, Taliban militants, corrupt bureaucrats, and men who beat women and children.

Today, 27-year-old Farishta is in hiding. Like a fugitive on the run, she changes her location often. For her safety, we have changed her name.

Originally from Afghanistan’s south-eastern Paktia province, Farishta was among those Afghan women who obtained professional success in the years after the Taliban was defeated, challenging the country’s male-dominated and ultra-conservative society.

Socialist Twitch streamer accused of hypocrisy after alleged leak shows he made over $200k in ONE MONTH

A reported data leak from video streaming platform Twitch has gone viral, revealing among other things that socialist streamer Hasan Piker allegedly made over $200,000 in just one month.

An anonymous internet user leaked 125GB of alleged data from Twitch on Wednesday, containing source code from the service and user payout figures, among other information. Though the leak has not been officially confirmed by Twitch, video game news website VGC News cited an anonymous source at the company who reportedly verified the leak and its contents.

US man sues psychic who ‘promised to remove ex-girlfriend curse’

A California man is suing a psychic who he says falsely claimed she could remove a curse put on his marriage by a witch hired by his ex-girlfriend.

Mauro Restrepo said Sophia Adams promised she could save his marriage if he paid $5,100 (£3,742) to exorcise the spell, according to a fraud suit filed with the Torrance Superior Court.

Ms Adams allegedly told Mr Restrepo he and his family would be “unhappy and in danger” if the curse was not lifted.

New Zealand Mongrel Mob leader given essential worker exemption to help boost Covid tests

New Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern has endorsed granting a Mongrel Mob leader special exemption to cross Auckland’s border so he could help minimise Covid-19 spread in hard to reach communities.

The head of the Waikato Mongrel Mob chapter, Sonny Fatupaito, was given essential worker status, which enabled him to enter Auckland last weekend, while the city was under level three lockdown, with a border in place.

Germany: Police raids in 3 states target international money laundering network

… According to police, the large-scale operation was directed against 67 suspected members of a network that has been operating internationally since 2016.

They allegedly provided illicit payment services and laundered funds from criminal acts.

The majority of the 67 suspects are Syrian nationals. The remaining suspects have either German, Jordanian, Lebanese, Turkish or Ukrainian citizenship, Reul said.

Two of the arrested suspects had previously been classified as Islamist threats.
