Communist China’s Useful Idiot Patty Hajdu pens letter to Alberta, asks for science behind plan to lift COVID rules

OTTAWA – Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu has sent a letter to her Alberta counterpart saying she shares concerns about the province’s plan to lift all of its COVID-19 health restrictions.

In the letter, addressed to Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro, Hajdu says she agrees with the Canadian Paediatric Society’s description of the move as an “unnecessary and risky gamble.”

She says recent modelling for Alberta forecasts a more serious resurgence in cases fuelled by the Delta variant, and all governments need to take reasonable steps to protect Canadians.

CBC requests another bailout with ad sales down again

Another plunge in ad revenue. Another threat to chop services. Another plea for more taxpayer bailout money.

Blacklock’s Reporter says CBC advertising revenues fell again last year by 18% and the state broadcaster said it will require more federal grants to offset commercial losses.

“Advertising revenue from conventional TV will continue to be under pressure,” management wrote in a CBC Corporate Plan Summary 2021-2025.

A priest has sewn his lips together to protest against the “suppression” of climate science in Rupert Murdoch’s media outlets.

Reverend Tim Hewes, 71, carried out the symbolic act outside News UK’s office in Central London yesterday. It’s home to the UK arm of Murdoch’s global news empire, News Corps.

Ontario reported more than 200 new COVID-19 infections and 14 additional deaths on Thursday, but 12 of those deaths occurred earlier this year, according to the government.

The province logged 213 new coronavirus infections today, a significant increase from 139 cases on Wednesday but down from 218 cases a week ago.

U.S. plans to require COVID-19 shots for foreign travellers

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is taking the first steps toward requiring nearly all foreign visitors to the U.S. to be vaccinated for the coronavirus, a White House official said Wednesday.

The requirement would come as part of the administration’s phased approach to easing travel restrictions for foreign citizens to the country. No timeline has yet been determined, as interagency working groups study how and when to safely move toward resuming normal travel. Eventually all foreign citizens entering the country, with some limited exceptions, are expected to need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the U.S.

Pointing out the errors made by lockdown sceptics has become the favoured sport of the chattering classes. It sometimes has the whiff of a bloodsport. Every time Sunetra Gupta or Karol Sikora pops up on Radio 4 or makes a comment in a national newspaper, an army of Little Stalins goes wild. ‘These people got things wrong about the virus!’, they cry. ‘Stop platforming them!’ These experts will never escape the mistakes and misjudgements they made about Covid-19. There will always be a shrill finger-pointer there to remind them. And to accuse them of killing people with their ‘disinformation’.

Western liberals want to limit the influence of billionaires on domestic politics, but they want George Soros to have freer hands to take on Orbán from his home in Westchester.”

‘Still going through hell’: the search for Yazidi women made captive by Islamist slavers seven years on

Muslims tattooed their Yazidi girl slaves.

For seven years, their families waited and hoped for news. In July, they finally received it. Two young women, kidnapped by Islamic State as teenagers, had been found alive in Syria.

Salma*, now 25, was located in Deir el-Zour province, in the east of the country. She had “suffered all kinds of injustice”, said the Yazidi House in the Al-Jazira region, an organisation that assisted with the rescue of both women.

Dareen*, abducted from Sinjar – the Yazidis’ homeland in northern Iraq – when she was just 14, was rescued a week later, according to the Yazidi House.
