Here’s what environmental groups say the anti-Alberta energy inquiry knows about their foreign funding

A controversial two-year long inquiry into allegations that foreign actors attempted to unfairly sully the international reputation of Alberta oil and gas is scheduled to be completed by July 30.

On that day, commissioner and forensic accountant Steve Allan’s report will be due to Energy Minister Sonya Savage. She is compelled to publicly release his findings within 90 days of receiving them.

In 2019, Allan was initially tapped to report back by July 2, 2020. He had a budget of $2.5 million to investigate any funding furnished by sinister actors to environmental groups, and whether any organization receiving that money to smack-talk oil also receives government grants or holds charitable status in Canada.

More Canadians think Singh would be better PM than O’Toole: Leger survey

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh might have reason to smile only weeks before a possible election call as a new survey suggests more Canadians believe he would make a better prime minister than the Conservatives’ Erin O’Toole.

While the survey by Leger and the Association for Canadian Studies had 25 per cent of respondents picking Justin Trudeau as the best prime minister, Singh wasn’t far behind with 19 per cent while only 13 per cent chose O’Toole.

In O’Toole’s defense this was an on-line survey.

Late last week U.S. Customs and Border Protection finally released June border apprehension numbers, which hit a 21-year high with more than 188,000 arrests last month and more than 1.1 million so far this fiscal year.

Health Concerns Grow over Tokyo Olympic Venue Smelling like a ‘Toilet‘

Tokyo Olympic organizers are scrambling to clean the local Odaiba Marine Park before its use as an official Olympic venue starting July 26 after local residents and Olympic athletes complained this week the park and its surrounding bay emit a “foul odor,” Australia’s Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.

“A foul odour has been reported at the swimming venue for triathletes and open water swimmers, raising concerns about elevated levels of the dangerous E-coli bacteria,” according to the newspaper.

Considering the scale of these events, the reaction has been utterly underwhelming

It’s obviously something of a politico-religious week, as the federal government is hosting two summits, on two consecutive days this week, on combating anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

Needless to say, the prime minister will be present at both. I don’t suppose anyone will draw objections to such meetings, or their intention of removing, or at least reducing, discrimination against either of these two religions.

FBI agent investigating Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plot is arrested after ‘beating his wife during argument following night at a swingers’ party’

An FBI agent who has played a key role in the prosecution of more than a dozen ‘militia’ members who plotted to kidnap Michigan’s governor, was arrested on Sunday morning after allegedly attacking his wife following a swinger’s party.

Richard Trask, 39, allegedly smashed his wife’s head against a nightstand during an argument after the party, leaving her covered in blood.

California’s License to shoplift: Two thieves brazenly stroll out of TJ Maxx with armfuls of clothes

Two men casually walked out of a Los Angeles area TJ Maxx with their arms full of what appears to be stolen goods as brazen shoplifters continue to rampage through California retail stores.

Viral video posted earlier this week shows two men carrying armfuls of jeans, jackets and other apparel as they casually saunter out of a TJ Maxx in the Granada Hills section of the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles.

‘That looks great,’ one man is heard saying in the video as the two men head toward the door with the stolen loot, making no haste as they leave.

Struggle for control of Green party heads to court

OTTAWA — This fight isn’t over.

Two days after Annamie Paul applauded the abrupt halt of threats to her leadership from top officials in her own party, the Green Party of Canada filed an application in Ontario Superior Court on Wednesday that seeks to revive them.

The application reveals that Paul won a reprieve from attempts to depose her through a legal arbitration process relating to her employment contract with the Green party.

The party is now trying to get that decision overturned in court.

Dozens of arrests as encampment eviction turns violent

Police and activists clashed on Wednesday while a homeless encampment was cleared out of a downtown park.

After spending the morning urging between 14 and 17 holdouts occupying a portion of Lamport Stadium Park, near King and Dufferin Sts., the city made good on its promise to enforce trespass notices issued last month.

These appear to be “activist” lead altercations. For once Tory has done the right thing, thank goodness for internal polling.

For Ontarians in the soon to be Hermit Kingdom of Canada this will be an internal passport only as our mix and match vaccines are not widely accepted by the outside world.

Tommy Robinson loses High Court libel case

Anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson has lost a High Court libel case brought by a Syrian schoolboy.

Jamal Hijazi was filmed being attacked in the playground at Almondbury School in Huddersfield in October 2018.

The English Defence League founder, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, claimed Mr Hijazi attacked “young English girls”.

Mr Justice Nicklin ruled in Mr Hijazi’s favour and granted him £100,000 in damages.

Progressivism’s Collapse and Why it Matters

A couple of weeks ago, in a lengthy piece at the Weekly Dish, Andrew Sullivan lamented about the “radicalization of the American elite against liberalism.”  While this appears so to Sullivan’s eyes, this radicalization doesn’t much involve conversions.  It’s not as if card-carrying liberals suddenly became card-carrying leftists of varying stripes.  Fellow travelers and quislings there are, but that’s always the case with movements.
