That Frenchy is making a white supremacist hand sign!

Afghan civilians take up arms against Taliban as foreign troops depart

Not inspiring.

Haji Ghoulam Farouq Siawshani watched the Taliban rampage across northern Afghanistan this month, weighing up the threat from militants on his doorstep. Then, 10 days ago, the former oil trader turned militia commander issued a call to arms.

“Where the Taliban go, they bring destruction, and they are one kilometre away from my village,” he told the Guardian. “We decided to respond.”

He now leads a few dozen men he armed with ageing Kalashnikovs, in Gozara district, just south of the ancient trade and cultural centre of Herat, on the country’s western border with Iran.

The defence ministry say the shoes are part of regulation-dress uniform.

SNOBELEN: Vaccinated people in the U.S. are living life again — what about Canada?

There was a time when a double shot was pretty self-explanatory, and almost always a bad idea.

These days, a double shot means that you have stepped into the world of the fully vaccinated, a condition that makes you almost as bulletproof as the whiskey equivalent.

When Too Much Power Makes the Elites Insane

We’ve all heard the phrase “power corrupts,” by Lord Acton, a 19th-century British historian.  The full quote — “Power tends to corrupt.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely” — referred to the absolute power of kings.

Research from 2012 by Katherine A. DeCelles, a University of Toronto professor, concluded that wealth and power don’t affect everyone equally — they just allow existing personality traits to emerge to excess.

The fightback against Critical Race Theory – Its creators thought America was on their side — they were wrong

One of the most irritating terms of our time must be “gaslighting”. It sounds so serious, but is just another of those pseudo-criminal charges that people fling around online, as though it has a well-known application in the real world. Loose in definition, assumed by the user to be understood by all, it is merely a form of elite jargon, known and understood only by a few.
