How George Floyd became a martyr

How George Floyd became a martyr

His death has spawned a cult — and for heretics there is no redemption

“Thank you George Floyd for sacrificing your life for justice … Because of you and because of thousands, millions of people around the world who came out for justice, your name will always be synonymous with justice.” So spoke Speaker Nancy Pelosi after the conviction of Derek Chauvin, in one of the most telling reactions so far. George Floyd died for our sins, a martyr for the faith.

America’s Smug Elite Is Harming Our Kids

U.S. public health experts increasingly urge the reopening of schools, and yet much of the country still seems unable to do so. This is the most visible and, perhaps, most tragic consequence of the toxic environment surrounding discussions of how to respond to the pandemic that has been driven by a technocratic elite harboring a dim view of the public’s role in important discussions. Yet it is not the failure of the public, but rather of these self-appointed guardians of public discourse to glimpse their own shortcomings, that has crippled our national debate.

My First Knife Fight? Leftists call knifings kid stuff after Columbus cop saved a teen from a stabbing

My First Knife Fight? Leftists call knifings kid stuff after Columbus cop saved a teen from a stabbing

The far left has been mouthing so many phony, untrue things about crime and punishment in the U.S. that some of its unhinged denizens can no longer recognize reality.

That would likely explain why one Black Lives Matter activist, Bree Newsome, found herself the subject of ridicule on Twitter and beyond for jumping the shark on the subject of stabbings, which is the topic of the day regarding a police intervention in Columbus, Ohio, where an officer shot a 16 year-old in the act of stabbing another girl. Newsome’s twisted herself into a pretzel over the incident to whip up the narrative that cops are evil and knife stabbings are everyday occurrences, effectively declaring the vicious near-disemboweling of a teenager in pink jammed up against the hood of a car at the hands of another teen, Ma’Khia Bryant, a sort of rite of passage for Black people. And after a torrent of ridicule, she won’t stop digging.

The vanity of the global climate talks

Who in their right mind thinks Boris, Biden and Ursula will ‘save the world’?

Earlier this week, stories emerged of the prime minister’s plans to once again bring forward the UK’s climate targets. According to the BBC, the government is set to announce that ‘carbon emissions will be cut by 78 per cent by 2035 – almost 15 years earlier than previously planned’. If true, this follows a pattern of climate policymaking in which, without much public debate or democratic input, targets are increased and brought forward. Some might think this shows a government getting serious about planning for the future. But what this on-the-hoof policymaking really reveals is a chaotic government that is struggling to cope with a climate agenda that is out of control, has no chance of success, and will create hardship for millions.

How Hollywood Celebrated Earth Day: Yoga, Tree-Hugging, and Alarmism

How Hollywood Celebrated Earth Day: Yoga, Tree-Hugging, and Alarmism

Carbon emissions-pumping Hollywood celebrities, many of whom own multiple houses and routinely fly around on private jets, celebrated Earth Day on Thursday, with yoga, tree-hugging, pop superstar Cher encouraging Americans to love it “tenderly” like a “baby” or a “puppy,” and actor-comedian Jim Gaffigan assisting his audience in harvesting “healthy and voluptuous corn.”

NBC report on Ma’Khia Bryant shooting doesn’t show the knife in her hand for some reason

… Nicholas Fondacaro of the Media Research Center made a nice catch with this NBC News report on the shooting last night. Instead of just freeze-framing the knife to show viewers that Bryant was attacking, NBC attributed the claim to police: Police say that Bryant had a knife in her hand and a knife was found next to her after she fell. That leaves the viewer with a bit of unwarranted doubt about what Bryant was doing when she lunged at the girl in pink in the clip. Was she maybe just throwing a punch, and the knife fell out of her back pocket after she was shot?

She sounds like a charmer!

Chauvin and Bryant: Never Let a Good Coincidence Go to Waste

With the Derek Chauvin trial concluded, the anti-cop Left needed a new cause célèbre. And they sure weren’t picky about who it would be.

Ma’Khia Bryant had a knife, and she was a fraction of a second from plunging it into an unnamed black woman dressed in a pink sweatsuit.

But she never got the chance, thanks to the efforts of a Columbus, Ohio, police officer named Nicholas Reardon. Reardon, responding to a 911 call in which it was reported that a young woman was assaulting others with a knife, drew his pistol and shot Ma’Khia Bryant before she could stab her intended victim. She died shortly thereafter as the neighborhood around the foster home where she lived began to boil at the scene, with profanity-laced epithets hurled at Reardon and other law enforcement officers as they attempted to save her life.

Where life is normal – Just outside of city centers the pandemic is hardly visible

Left-wing magazine Slate took the stunning and brave step Saturday of publishing an article outlining the case for no longer wearing masks outside.

‘As we’ve come to know more about the virus, as vaccinations are ramping up, and as we’re trying to figure out how to live with some level of COVID in a sustainable way, masking up outside when you’re at most briefly crossing paths with people is starting to feel barely understandable,’ the author reasoned.

US must cut fossil fuels before poorer countries says delusional teen

Teenage Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on Thursday scolded Congress on policy changes she said are needed to eliminate fossil fuels and stop global warming — saying the US must take into account the “global aspect of equity” and be held to a higher standard than poorer countries like India.

Thunberg, 18, has won praise for her strident environmental activism, but critics have described her forceful projections of doom as naive — which she acknowledged in her testimony.

FBI Determined That the Attempted Massacre of GOP Lawmakers in 2017 Was ‘Suicide By Cop’

The FBI privately informed lawmakers in November of 2017 that the attempted massacre of GOP lawmakers on an Alexandria, Virginia baseball field that June was a “suicide by cop,” a GOP congressman revealed last week. That determination deviated from all of the known facts about the gunman’s political motivations, and conflicted with the conclusions of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
