Why Is Identity Politics Destroying America?

Tribalism has turned toxic in the age of social media.

Man is by nature a tribal creature. For many thousands of years, human existence was defined by family connections, with ties of blood and marriage providing the social network that ensured cooperation and support necessary to sustaining life. Loyalty to one’s kinship group — the tribe or clan — was vital to this system of cooperation, and from the deeply rooted tribal nature of human life emerges the sense of national identity that inspires what we call patriotism.

BBC returns fire after China accuses state-owned news corp of ‘fake news’ and ‘ideological bias’

The UK’s state-run BBC news outlet has rejected accusations by China’s Foreign Ministry that the agency reported “fake news” when covering the Covid-19 crisis in China, saying it stands by its “accurate and fair reporting.”

Amid escalating tensions between the two nations, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Thursday that it had registered “stern representations” with the British Broadcasting Corporation while demanding an apology for unfair and biased reporting on the handling of the coronavirus pandemic in China.

Human Rights Violations No One Talks About

On January 3, 2021, the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Land Authority (PLA) in the Gaza Strip “removed” three houses — one of which had been inhabited by a family of three — and bulldozed about 30 dunums (7.4 acres) of agricultural land in the as-Salam neighborhood west of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

The decision to bulldoze the houses and fields — which came on short notice and did not include direct notifications to those affected by it — inflicted financial damage on farmers and displaced several Palestinians from their houses, according to the Gaza-based Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.

The SPLC’s Horrifying Plan for Your Children’s Schools

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), notorious for branding mainstream conservative and Christian nonprofits “hate groups” and including them on a list with the Ku Klux Klan while ignoring the destructive and deadly antifa riots, has adopted Marxist critical race theory and has asked the government to push this noxious agenda in public schools. This week, the SPLC urged President Joe Biden to direct taxpayer funds to develop a “curriculum on structural racism” in the Department of Education. The smear group also revamped its Teaching Tolerance program, which pushes its leftist agenda in schools.

Don’t show a photo of David Suzuki: How WE Charity tried to keep its donors happy

A parade of public figures, musicians and activists crossed the stage in front of 16,000 youth gathered in Calgary in October 2016 for the annual WE Charity arena show, known as WE Day. But away from the stage, conflict was brewing.

An image of environmentalist David Suzuki flashed on the big screen at the Saddledome — one face in a montage of “Canadian heroes” intended to inspire young people to go out in the world and do good deeds.

The We Scammers surely identified a kindred hustler. Where was the professional courtesy?

Time Magazine: ‘Secret,‘ ‘Well-funded Cabal‘ Worked to ‘Protect‘ 2020 Election

Time magazine has published a detailed account of what it describes as a “conspiracy” between “left-wing activists and business titans” to create “an extraordinary shadow effort” to “protect” the 2020 presidential election.

The New York Times had reported on the effort in January, referring to the “Democracy Defense Coalition.” The Daily Beast hinted at it in the fall. But the Time article is the most in-depth report at what others suggested was going on behind the scenes.

Philip Guston – Cabal – Whitney Museum. Kathy and I visited the Whitney in Boston a couple of years ago. It was a wonderful day together as was our entire visit. We walked everywhere enjoying the city and each other’s company over the course of several beautiful summer days. Which reminds me, I still have a print she bought me and have yet to frame.  Check out the Whitney if given the chance.

Celina Caesar-Chavannes on Trudeau – “I had to ask him, ‘Motherfucker, who the fuck do you think you’re talking to?”

It was the aftermath of a public row with former Conservative politician Maxime Bernier that crystallized a feeling for Celina Caesar-Chavannes that she didn’t belong on Parliament Hill.

“I quote Nina Simone, ‘You’ve got to learn to leave the table/ When love’s no longer being served.’ There was no love,” said Caesar-Chavannes, a former Liberal member of parliament (MP) representing Whitby, Ontario, and a former parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “They don’t want me there.”

When will life return to normal? In 7 years at today’s vaccine rates -10 years for Trudeau’s Canada

When will life return to normal? In 7 years at today’s vaccine rates -10 years for Trudeau’s Canada

In Canada it’s going to take more than 10 years at this rate

When will the pandemic end? It’s the question hanging over just about everything since COVID-19 took over the world last year. The answer can be measured in vaccinations.

Bloomberg has built the biggest database of COVID-19 shots given around the world, with more than 119 million doses administered worldwide. U.S. science officials such as Anthony Fauci have suggested it will take 70 per cent to 85 per cent coverage of the population for things to return to normal. Bloomberg’s Vaccine Tracker shows that some countries are making far more rapid progress than others, using 75 per cent coverage with a two-dose vaccine as a target.

Libel notice served against Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam by Joe Volpe, publisher of Corriere Canadese, circulated at Council

Wong Way

The publisher of Italian-Canadian newspaper Corriere Canadese has served Toronto councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam with libel notice ahead of a motion to pull City advertising from a publication that distributed “homophobic and transphobic articles about the Toronto Catholic District School Board, its Trustees and its LGBTQ2S+ students.”

The motion, to be considered Friday, says numerous articles by Corriere Canadese publisher Joe Volpe fail to comply with the City’s human rights policies. These include an article describing a LGBT peer support group on the TCDSB’s website as “pornographic” and another article headlined “Time to put sexualized virtue-signalling thugs in their place.”

I’m with Joe.

The Thirty Tyrants – The deal that the American elite chose to make with China has a precedent in the history of Athens and Sparta

The Thirty Tyrants – The deal that the American elite chose to make with China has a precedent in the history of Athens and Sparta

In Chapter 5 of The Prince, Niccolo Machiavelli describes three options for how a conquering power might best treat those it has defeated in war. The first is to ruin them; the second is to rule directly; the third is to create “therein a state of the few which might keep it friendly to you.”
