Visitors to the Toronto Voluntary Isolation Centre get free Wi-Fi, three catered meals daily, and a personalized welcome note from medical officer of health Dr. Eileen de Villa — but no room key, an effort to encourage those with COVID-19 to stay inside their rooms.

The isolation hotel, the first of its kind in Canada when it opened three months ago, is by all accounts safe, quiet and comfortable. Yet only about 150 people have opted to use the facility so far, a fraction of its peak capacity.

It’s not because of a lack of need. Cramped, unsuitable housing, where self-isolation may be difficult or impossible, continues to be a major driver of new infections in the city, data suggests.

Trudeau tells UN that he will use COVID-19 recovery to fight global warming

OTTAWA: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he will leverage COVID-19 recovery to implement a more ambitious anti-global warming plan. Trudeau made the announcement in a pre-recorded video released on December 12 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the UN Paris Climate Accord.

The anniversary was marked by a virtual global “Climate Ambition Summit”, hosted by the United Nations, Britain and France.

The presidential election of 2020 has revealed America’s present state of social and spiritual chaos. It has also cast light on the paths we might choose going into the future. While we wait for the Georgia senatorial runoff that will begin that future in earnest, here is where we are right now.

There are two different world views in competition. The one that seems to be on the ascendant, calls itself by many names so it is hard to pin it down. Let me try. All of these various names have aggregated themselves under the “big tent” of the Democrat party. There is a kaleidoscope of ideologies from the Muslim Brotherhood to Greens and Communists but the three largest and most often cited groups are liberals, progressives and socialists. Leaving aside the serious and unresolved argument that liberal is not the correct term in any way for what passes for the ideologies that predominate in that party, there is one core belief that they all have in common. In one way or another, they believe that human life can be perfected through government.

I’m a pandemic skeptic. I know that the Wuhan virus is real and dangerous for some people. Still, I cannot get excited about a disease with an average 99% survival rate. Crucial security and adjudication logs are missing from Dominion Voting Systems machines from Michigan’s Antrim County, according to a forensics report (pdf) released on Dec. 14 in compliance with a court order.

“Significantly, the computer system shows vote adjudication logs for prior years; but all adjudication log entries for the 2020 election cycle are missing. The adjudication process is the simplest way to manually manipulate votes. The lack of records prevents any form of audit accountability, and their conspicuous absence is extremely suspicious since the files exist for previous years using the same software,” the report, authored by Russell Ramsland, states.
