Revealed: The real reason Canada’s trade deal collapsed

Doug Ford, the Ontario Premier, was moments from taking the stage at a trade conference in Toronto when organisers announced an unexpected guest.

Beaming in from Washington, DC, Howard Lutnick, Donald Trump’s commerce secretary, had joined to speak on the escalating trade rift between the US and Canada.

Mr Lutnick’s tone, those present say, was aggressive and his message clear; automotive manufacturing, the pride of Ontario, was coming back to America.

‘National embarrassment’: Canada is no longer a country that has eliminated measles

In the old days we exiled them from the village.

Canada no longer can claim it has eliminated the most infectious virus known to medicine after the Pan American Health Organization announced Monday it has revoked the country’s measles elimination status.

The decision comes after Canada failed to contain spread of the same viral strain of measles for more than one year.

Speechcrime

On Britain’s authoritarian turn

It is only appropriate that the head of Britain’s government should be Keir Starmer, a human rights lawyer and former head of the nation’s prosecuting authorities, because Britain now prosecutes its own citizens—if they say the wrong things. The ideology and culture of human rights, whether by design or not, have served to make the country safer for criminals, increase mass illegal immigration, curtail freedom of speech, and entrench a sprawling ideological bureaucracy.

A Gut Punch in the Culture Fight

A courageous British veteran of World War II tells his country this is not the freedom he and so many others fought for.

The saddest news clip I saw last week was not Fox News calling the Virginia Attorney General race for a man who wants me dead, and will make that outcome likelier when I move to the state next year. Nor New York City’s Mayor-Elect screaming communist blather in his victory speech. Both were painful, but neither as painful as a Good Morning, Britain interview with a 100-year-old English D-Day veteran. The magnificent hero, Alec Penstone, turned an intended fluff segment into one of the most melancholic reflections ever on the wretched state of the nation he fought for, and his brothers bled and died for. And his words rang like warning bells to this side of the Pond, if too late for Virginia and New York.

Bryan Brulotte: The Canadian Armed Forces must reclaim its warrior ethos

CAF Transgender Tank

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) stands at a decisive moment in its history. Around the world, rivalries are resurfacing, alliances are being tested and the international order that Canada helped build through sacrifice and service is fracturing. This is Canada’s moment not only to reinvest in its military, but to reclaim the warrior ethos that once defined those who wear the uniform.

Iran Seeking to Revive the ‘Axis of Resistance’ Against Israel

While US President Donald J. Trump and his administration are working hard to bring peace to the Middle East and disarm terror groups in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, the Iranian regime and its proxies are doing their utmost to ensure that their Jihad (holy war) to destroy Israel continues in full force.

The Iranian regime is evidently (and understandably) afraid of losing its terror proxies – Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen. These terror groups, whose primary goal is to eliminate Israel, have suffered severe blows over the past two years as a result of Israeli military operations targeting their leaders and military infrastructure.

‘A literal shoe box’: Why some Toronto renters are avoiding new builds

267 square foot condo Toronto

Delphine Winton just recently moved into an apartment by Casa Loma built in 1936 — and she’s not looking back.

During her hunt for a new space, the 22-year-old student was strictly looking for older buildings, choosing to stay away from the sliding glass doors, lack of “character” and odd floor plans she’s seen in newer condos.

“God forbid you have enough room to put a dining table in,” she told CBC Toronto.

‘Chaos has gone’ – quiet streets on Texas border after Trump crackdown

In Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, the immigration debate has spilled into the streets, sparking almost daily demonstrations while immigration agents ramp up arrests.

But in El Paso – a city in Texas on the US-Mexico border – the streets are unusually quiet.

A year after the BBC last visited the border to understand the impact of the migrant crisis on the border, sites that were once teeming with migrants lie largely silent.

Just a few years ago, as many as 2,500 migrants once camped outside the city’s historic Sacred Heart Catholic church. Many lined the streets sleeping on donated blankets, idling while they waited for food and water to be distributed by local charities.

Ford government refuses to release completed work on Hwy. 401 tunnel idea

The Doug Ford Super Tunnel comes with a Highway, Gondola canal and Monorail!

Ontario is refusing to release already completed work on the viability of Premier Doug Ford’s Highway 401 tunnel vision after signing a $9.1 million agreement for a Canadian company to re-study the plan.

As part of its Fall Economic Statement, the province confirmed it had awarded a contract to WSP Canada Inc. to consider how to build an expressway beneath Ontario’s busiest artery — and whether it is possible at all.

The Flood of Stunning New Evidence That J6 Was a Fedsurrection Can’t Be Ignored

After the initial shock wore off, it became quite clear to many of us that something nefarious was behind the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the Capitol Complex. Things were too pat. Narratives were set and eagerly parroted by the media within hours. Buses filled with non-MAGA people were reported and verified by congressional reps. And there were “bombs” found at the Democratic National Committee and later at a club near the RNC. Impeachment talk was openly discussed.

Return to faith: Attendance increasing for first time in decades, one church leader says

For the first time in decades, some Canadian church leaders say religious attendance is creeping back up, but the driving force comes down to one demographic: Generation Z.

“Across Canada we are seeing a movement of young people who are stepping into a building and worshipping. It is an overwhelming sense,” says Calissa Ngozi, a Toronto-based mental health educator and award-winning speaker.

St. Paul’s Bloor Street, an Anglican Church located in downtown Toronto, has seen its members of young adults ages 15 to 29 grow exponentially since the pandemic.
