King Charles and Pope Leo XIV held a historic joint prayer in the Sistine Chapel on Thursday, the first time a British monarch and a Pope have prayed together publicly since Henry VIII broke from the Catholic Church in the 16th century.
The prayer is the key moment in a two-day visit by the King and Queen to Rome and the Vatican designed to boost ties between the Vatican and the Church of England, of which Charles is the supreme governor.

Black staff at Global Affairs Canada allege systemic racism
OTTAWA — A group representing current and former Global Affairs Canada employees who are Black say the department doesn’t take their complaints about racism seriously.
The Black Class Action Secretariat, which is mounting legal challenges claiming systemic racism and discrimination in the public service, has been appealing a broader case involving the entire public service.
The group is citing cases of Global Affairs Canada staff whose complaints were rejected by internal panels before being upheld by the courts or outside commissions, without compensation.

Disqualified from the 2023 World Championships for failing sex tests, Lin Yu-ting did not even bother appealing. While Algeria’s Imane Khelif initially protested to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the Taiwanese fighter offered no formal objection to test results indicating the presence of male chromosomes. And yet one year later, both of them were given carte blanche to compete on the grandest stage of all, the Olympic Games, with both winning every round of every bout en route to gold medals.
The reason for this travesty of justice was the spinelessness of the International Olympic Committee, so desperate to appease the gender ideologues that it sat back and allowed a procession of women to be smashed in the face by biological males.

After giving Stellantis close to $105 million to retool two Ontario plants, the federal government is now reviewing the contract to see if the automaker violated the deal by announcing it’s moving some production to the U.S.
Stellantis publicly revealed its plans last week to move its Jeep Compass production from Brampton, Ont., to Illinois.
Asked by CBC News if he wants to recover taxpayer money already given to Stellantis, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne suggested the government is taking action.

In a major German city, a four-year-old has been targeted at a local kindergarten solely because of his father’s position as an Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) member of the Bundestag.
Parents petitioned for the child’s exclusion, prompting the father to attend an extraordinary parents’ evening at the daycare venue.
During the meeting, which included 15 parents, three staff members, and the father, tensions were high. The father emphasized, “I’m here at the daycare center as a father, not as a politician,” assuring participants of a clear separation between his professional role and his family life. He expressed concern that his child might be ostracized.

OTTAWA—Auto industry and union representatives fear the Mark Carney-led Liberal government is willing to push off tough auto sector talks about American tariffs to whenever formal negotiations on a scheduled review of the North American free trade deal get underway.
But they warn that is not an option, and puts the future of major companies and thousands of jobs at risk.
Lana Payne, head of Unifor, the largest private sector union that speaks for hundreds of thousands of auto, aluminum, and forestry workers, said in an interview Trump’s punishing tariffs on steel, aluminum, autos, copper and forestry are “strategic, surgical and designed to destroy Canada’s industrial economy.”

OTTAWA — After days of backlash over Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s comments on the RCMP, a string of his MPs lined up in support of the leader on Wednesday and pushed back against the controversy itself.
Usually quiet as they enter their weekly caucus meeting, a handful of Conservative MPs stopped to voice their support for Poilievre as well as the national force itself, whose leadership the Conservative leader called “despicable” in an interview aired last week, which he later clarified to say he was speaking about its past commissioner.

When a public high school in Orange County, Florida, aired a weekly “Witchy Wednesday” religious video series on the schoolwide TV system, led by students and featuring detailed instructions on casting spells and performing rituals, including soul cleansing and moon worship, many parents were stunned.
The school canceled the series after public outcry and intervention from Liberty Counsel, in which the legal group asked for equal time for Christian instruction. But the larger question remains: Why would a public school introduce spiritual practices rooted in witchcraft to impressionable young students, and what does this reveal about the direction of public education?

THE Economist, magazine of choice for the globalising liberal elite, has this week called for the legalising of cocaine. That’s right. Its leading article asserted: ‘The most effective single way to reduce the death, violence and corruption would be to legalise and regulate the production and consumption of cocaine. This would eliminate the price premium that motivates the world’s most violent criminals. Consumers could be sure of dosage and quality – an incentive to shun dangerous illegal concoctions. Prisons would be emptier and the criminal justice system could focus on deadlier synthetics.’

A Conservative MP says the case of a gender transition critic who was told by a co-panellist her remarks could constitute “hate” speech shows how codifying such definitions into law is creating an atmosphere that could lead to censorship.
