Canadians don’t trust Donald Trump to abide by a new trade deal, poll suggests

OTTAWA — Canadians are split on the importance of a new trade deal with the U.S. and a majority don’t trust Donald Trump to abide by one anyway, a new survey suggests.

The Abacus Data poll shared exclusively with the Star also shows most Canadians don’t want Prime Minister Mark Carney to rush into a trade deal, even if it means a longer period of uncertainty and short-term economic pain.

White House calls Mark Hamill ‘sick’ for posting AI image of Trump in a grave

The White House has branded Star Wars actor Mark Hamill “a sick individual” after an AI-generated image showing Donald Trump in a shallow grave, with the words “If Only” as an overlay was posted to one of star’s social media accounts.

Hamill, who played the lead character of Luke Skywalker in six movies of the iconic science fiction franchise and is a longtime critic of the US president, apologized and removed the post from his Bluesky account on Thursday.

The American actor replaced it with another message clarifying that he was not advocating the president’s demise.

Doug Ford government sacks entire board at Conestoga College

Doug Ford’s government has fired the entire board of Conestoga College citing “evidence of serious financial and governance mismanagement.”

The news from the province comes after the Toronto Sun broke the news that former president John Tibbits was given an exit package worth at least $3.8 million.

I like the moves Ford is making on education but why did it take him so long to be just a little conservative?

Trump officials believe Canada ‘slow-walking’ trade talks: Quebec CUSMA envoy

Trump officials believe Canada ‘slow-walking’ trade talks: Quebec CUSMA envoy

Canada needs to act quickly to push back on a growing belief in Washington that it’s dragging its feet on trade talks, according to the Quebec government’s representative in those negotiations.

Louise Blais, who was appointed last month as Quebec’s envoy for the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement review, said that “an impression has set in, in D.C. — for right or wrong — that Canada is looking elsewhere, and that we’re slow-walking this.”

Rector of Paris Mosque Accuses Canon Français Banquets of “Exclusion”

Rector of Paris Mosque Accuses Canon Français Banquets of “Exclusion”

The controversy surrounding the banquets organised by Le Canon français shows no sign of abating. The initiative, launched by two young entrepreneurs to revive traditional banquets centred on culinary specialities from across France, has come under fire from the press and the Left on the grounds that it perpetuates an ideology of exclusion and promotes far-right ideas. The rector of the Paris Mosque has spoken out publicly to, in turn, attack these festive gatherings which bring together several thousand enthusiastic guests in towns and cities across France.

In a video dated April 29th, Chems-Eddine Haffiz, rector of the Paris Mosque—who, given his official position, is regarded as a kind of spokesman for Islam in France—lashed out at the Canon français and its banquets: the fact that it celebrates a cuisine featuring pork, he claimed, is proof of a logic of exclusion. He condemns the “4,000 guests gathered around a spit-roasted pig” and accuses them of “symbolically” excluding those who do not share this cuisine—that is to say, Muslims.

Man to plead guilty in Colorado firebomb attack on pro-Israel demonstrators

A man accused of a firebomb attack that killed one person and injured a dozen others during a demonstration last year in Boulder, Colorado, in support of Israeli hostages in Gaza was scheduled to plead guilty Thursday to murder and other charges.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the attack in downtown Boulder last 1 June.

Soliman’s attorneys revealed he would plead guilty in a recent court filing in a related federal case. He was set to appear Thursday before a state district judge, Nancy Salomone, to do so.

UFOs Trump admin releases highly anticipated files documenting UFOs, ‘extraterrestrial life’

It’s disclosure day.

FIRST ON FOX — The Trump administration on Friday released a batch of “never-before-seen” files and videos on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon (UAP) as part of an effort to increase transparency on government knowledge of extraterrestrial phenomena.

“The latest UAP videos, photos, and original source documents from across the entire United States government are all in one place – no clearance required. While past administrations sought to discredit or dissuade the American people, President Trump is focused on providing maximum transparency to the public, who can ultimately make up their own minds about the information contained in these files,” the White House said in a statement to Fox News.

Besides the Pentagon, the effort is led by the White House, the director of national intelligence, the Energy Department, NASA and the FBI.

Finnish MP To Appeal ‘Hate Speech’ Conviction to Strasbourg

Finnish MP To Appeal ‘Hate Speech’ Conviction to Strasbourg

Finnish MP Päivi Räsänen announced today that she will take her conviction for “insulting a group” to the European Court of Human Rights, setting up a test of how far free speech and religious expression are protected under European law.

The Finnish Supreme Court found her guilty in March 2026, by a narrow 3–2 majority, for disseminating a 2004 pamphlet to her religious community. In that text, Räsänen outlined the Christian conception of marriage as a union between a man and a woman and questioned certain practices from that doctrinal perspective.

Ottawa quietly pulled $3M from homeless veterans program despite rising demand

The federal government quietly transferred more than $3 million away from a homelessness program for veterans after officials claimed they could not find enough former military members eligible to receive the funding.

Blacklock’s Reporter says internal records obtained through Access to Information show Housing Minister Gregor Robertson’s department moved the money while warning the decision could spark backlash from veterans groups and housing advocates.
