Grace Powell was 12 or 13 when she discovered she could be a boy.

Growing up in a relatively conservative community in Grand Rapids, Mich., Powell, like many teenagers, didn’t feel comfortable in her own skin. She was unpopular and frequently bullied.

Puberty made everything worse. She suffered from depression and was in and out of therapy.

“I felt so detached from my body, and the way it was developing felt hostile to me,” Powell told me. It was classic gender dysphoria, a feeling of discomfort with your sex.

A sad video that shows a little boy getting puberty blockers is gaining lots of traction online. It’s a heartbreaking clip, and viewers are calling out the transgender ideology for what it really is: “pure evil.”

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her province will not permit medical transitioning or puberty blockers for children as part of newly announced policies.

“For minors aged 17 and under, top and bottom gender reassignment surgeries will not be permitted,” Ms. Smith said in a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Jan. 31.

She also said that those under 15 years of age will not be allowed to take puberty blockers or hormone therapies as part of gender reassignment therapy.

When the gender issue began to become inflamed by activists a few years ago, we were assured that the following scenario would never happen. We were told that anyone who believed a children and family services agency in any state could swoop in and with little or no cause remove a minor child from their parent’s custody because the parents opposed their child “transitioning” was paranoid.

I helped bring some holiday cheer to the Internet with the research paper I co-authored demonstrating that sex differences in sports performance persist regardless of gender self-identification. “Obvious” was probably the most used word in tweets and headlines related to our study, closely followed by “duh” on X.

With the festive mirth behind us, it’s time for a serious look at the why and so what of our work.

‘Abbie Taylor’, formerly Martin Tarling, is the latest in a long line of male ne’er do wells to be described by the news media as a ‘woman’.

A family doctor has been suspended for three months after telling a transgender man they were a ‘biological woman’.

Dr Raymond Brière — who had been practicing for more than four decades in Montreal, Canada — was found by a complaints body to have acted in an ‘inappropriate and disrespectful manner’ after telling a patient that they were genetically female during an argument about the risks of hormone drugs.

During an appointment in mid-2022, the patient asked the Dr Brière for a prescription for testosterone therapy to help them transition into a man.
