On a Friday night at 11 p.m. in June 2022, 29-year-old Isabella Cêpa got a DM on Instagram from a journalist with Folha de S. Paulo, one of Brazil’s top newspapers. The journalist asked Cêpa for a response to the news that she was charged with five counts of “racism” for “misgendering” a transvestite politician and could face up to 10 to 25 years in prison. The journalist hadn’t expected her to see the message; the bombshell story was published the following day. It was the first time Cêpa had heard about the charges.

The Alberta government and the Carney Liberals both agree that there should be fair play when it comes to women in sports — but there is a bitter divide on what that means.

The government of Danielle Smith wants to emphasize fairness for girls, whereas the federal government is intent on focusing on fairness for transgender athletes.

There is a large ideological divide between these two positions that is not easily bridged.

Now that trans ideology is past its peak, the gutless author changes his tune.

On a recent episode of a podcast called “The Real Science of Sport,” the writer Malcolm Gladwell admitted that on a 2022 panel at MIT, he’d expressed support for the practice of allowing “trans women” to compete in women’s sports when in fact he didn’t really support it at all. In fact he believed the exact opposite. Why, then, had he dissembled? Because, he said, he was “cowed.”

The Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District has barred a mother from entering school property after officials said she posted material on Facebook that put a staff member at risk and violated district policies.

The Trump administration is currently weighing whether transgender Americans should be banned from buying firearms. This proposal comes after a tragedy in which a trans shooter murdered children at a Minneapolis church. The horror is undeniable. The temptation to act is overwhelming. Yet the cure being floated may be worse than the disease. Far worse.

The August celebrations of patron saints in many Spanish towns are a period in which, according to president of Abogados Cristianos (‘Christian Lawyers’) Polonia Castellanos, provocations such as town halls promoting gender ideology or the mocking of Christian religious beliefs are becoming more and more frequent. One of the most recent cases happened in Calviá, a town in Mallorca, where, before an audience of families and children, a queer show was performed, in which an individual dressed in lingerie, pretending to be a woman, made all kinds of sexual comments. Christian Lawyers filed a complaint, arguing that the divisive and controversial show was put on with taxpayer money.

McMaster University in Ontario is known as the birthplace of evidence-based medicine—the practice of integrating clinical expertise with the best available research findings and considerations of patient values and preferences. That legacy makes recent remarks on so-called gender medicine by several McMaster researchers especially baffling.
