Leopard Tank Variant Canada Donated To Ukraine Has No Spare Parts Production

Canada will send along this cool model to keep the Tankers busy.

Canada presses Germany to boost parts production as Ukraine struggles to field its Leopard tanks

Germany’s defence minister acknowledged Friday that countries like Canada — and to a lesser extent Ukraine — are in a tough spot when it comes to maintaining older variants of the Leopard 2 main battle tank and keeping them in the field.

Boris Pistorious, who visited Ottawa and met with his counterpart Defence Minister Bill Blair, was asked about the world-wide shortage of spare parts affecting the A4 model of the Leopard, the type overwhelmingly used by the Canadian Army.

It’s also the model which Canada, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and Portugal all donated to Ukraine.

India says Canada has offered no evidence it was involved in death of Sikh separatist

India says that Canada has shared no evidence to back up its allegation that the Indian government was involved in the death of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada last year, despite recent arrests in the crime.

The spokesperson for India’s external affairs ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, also reiterated India’s longstanding allegation that Canada harbors Indian extremists.

Three Indian nationals who had been living in Canada temporarily were charged on Thursday for their alleged role in the assassination of the Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia last year.

CHARLEBOIS: Want lower food prices? Sure, but be careful what you wish for

We are examining a significant shift toward food disinflation in Canada since January 2023, when food inflation reached an apex of over 11%. Currently, the inflation rate in grocery stores has moderated to less than 2% and is projected to dip below 1% by the summer. This phenomenon mirrors a broader global trend that reverses the steep food inflation observed over the past 18 months.

How rallying around divestments helped unify Canada’s pro-Palestinian movement

The encampment of pro-Palestinian protesters at McGill University in Montreal is nearing the three-week mark, having survived heavy rains, a failed lawsuit to get them expelled and a sizeable counter-demonstration.

In an attempt to resolve the situation, the university said last week it was willing to host a forum to discuss the protesters’ main demand: that it divest from companies with ties to Israel.

But the student activists say they won’t leave without a firm commitment from the university to liquidate its investments in defence companies like Lockheed Martin, which they say are helping sustain the current Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

Divestment is how they spell Jew hate nowadays.

Carson Jerema: Rex Murphy kept conservatism alive in Canada

No one in Canada wrote like Rex Murphy. A thundering prose peppered liberally with humour and sarcasm and frequent lyrical flourishes, he expressed what mattered to Canadians in their bones. The best opinion writers persuade by tapping into deep emotions. Rex wasn’t just among the very best, he stood above us all. A true polemicist, his words combined to conjure feelings of anger, glee, disgust or relief. It didn’t matter what the topic, whether it was the latest outrage in Parliament, or his beloved home province of Newfoundland, Rex ensured his readers felt what he felt.

Canada’s foreign student scam ‘mismatched’ job market, data shows

Canada’s foreign student push ‘mismatched’ job market, data shows

Canada’s recruitment of international students has tilted strongly toward filling spots in business programs, while doing little to meet the demand for workers in health care and the skilled trades, according to a CBC News analysis of federal data.

CBC obtained figures from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) showing the fields of education chosen by foreign students who received study permits from Ottawa to attend college or university in each year since 2018.

Experts say the figures demonstrate that neither federal nor provincial governments — nor Canadian colleges and universities themselves — focused international student recruitment squarely on filling the country’s most pressing labour needs.

There is no “Labour Shortage” there is a “Bodies needed to depress wages” crisis in Canada.

Douglas Todd: A rare blue-collar politician worries about B.C. workers’ wages

Popular Port Coquitlam Mayor Brad West, whose life was shaped by the labour movement, is worried by what’s happening to the party that once stood staunchly for blue-collar workers.

Not long ago West was a political staffer and campaign worker for Mike Farnworth, the longtime NDP MLA for Port Coquitlam and now minister of public safety. And Farnworth recently suggested in the legislature that West should be his successor.

The NDP abandoned those icky working class people long ago.

Racist Cop who fed promotion exam answers to fellow black policemen is a hero says racist idiot

I think Superintendent Stacy Clarke is a hero for trying to help Black officers

Our gains in this country and every other “white” dominated society have been through civil disobedience, challenging and when necessary, breaking the rules.

I’ve been distracted over the last few days with the current disciplinary hearing for Toronto Police Superintendent Stacy Clarke. Stacy Clarke has the distinction of being the first black woman to attain the rank of superintendent, on the Toronto force and is currently facing a battle to save her job due to allegations of “misconduct.”

Admittedly, Clarke shared interview questions with six Black constables who were eligible for promotion. What’s not in question is the fact she did it. What’s also not in question is the fact what she did was technically wrong.

It was wrong. She proved she is of poor character and should not be a police officer. She should be fired. End of story.
