It’s hard to imagine any government in Canada — the feds or any of the provinces — putting out a series of tips to help people get over their COVID-19 fears. After all, most of them seem to want to keep ramping up the fears.

COVID-19 contributed to the biggest annual reduction in life expectancy on record in Canada in 2020, the first year of the pandemic, Statistics Canada said in preliminary findings released on Monday.
While COVID was the third-leading cause of deaths in 2020, Statscan said the impact from the pandemic also likely contributed indirectly with a rise in deaths due to factors such as delayed medical procedures and increased drug-use.

As of Monday, big-box stores in Quebec require customers to show a vaccine passport, as the provincial government’s latest COVID-19 measure comes into effect.
In an attempt to convince holdouts to get vaccinated, the government has extended the vaccine passport to all all stores with surface areas of 1,500 square metres or more, with the exception of groceries and pharmacies.

Conservative MPs fiercely opposed to the federal government’s new vaccine mandate for cross-border truckers have slammed what they call Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “vaccine vendetta,” saying that the policy will disrupt the country’s supply chains.
Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre, the party’s finance critic, claimed the government’s vaccine policy is “emptying grocery shelves and ballooning food prices,” leaving some Canadians to “go hungry.”
Garnett Genuis, a Conservative MP from Alberta, said he stands with unvaccinated truckers who plan on protesting the mandate. “Time to end Justin Trudeau’s nonsensical vaccine vendetta,” he said in a recent social media post.

Self-testing COVID-19 rapid antigen tests authorized by Health Canada for purchase and use by the general public contain very low quantities of ingredients that are potentially harmful in larger amounts.

Newly released emails make more plausible the contention that Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins presided over the suppression of the lab-leak theory for political reasons.
From almost the moment the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in the city of Wuhan, the medical-research establishment in Washington and London insisted that the virus had emerged naturally. Only conspiracy theorists, they said, would give credence to the idea that the virus had escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Eric Clapton has claimed that anyone who has taken the Covid vaccine is a victim of ‘mass formation hypnosis’.
The singer, 76, has previously claimed he suffered alarming side effects after his AstraZeneca jabs and released an anti-lockdown single, Stand And Deliver, with Van Morrison in 2020.
In a new interview for The Real Music Observer YouTube channel, Eric claimed that subliminal messaging hidden in advertising led people to get the jab.
Danielle Thornton was in the school pick-up line waiting for her children when she learned she would face a life-changing choice: get the Covid-19 vaccine or lose her job of almost nine years at the bank Citigroup.
She and her husband had watched for months as bosses across the US introduced vaccine mandates, knowing the family might face this moment. Then, in the form of an email on her phone, it arrived.
“We had many, many conversations about it,” she says. “But ultimately we decided that our freedom was more important than a pay cheque.”

Majority of Canadians support more COVID-19 restrictions for unvaccinated: poll
With less than 20 per cent of the eligible population still unvaccinated against COVID-19 and concerns around the Omicron variant wave rising in the country, a majority of Canadians are in favour of imposing more restrictions on those who have not gotten the shots yet, according to new polling.
An Ipsos poll published Monday and conducted exclusively for Global News showed that 67 per cent want the government to impose further measures on the unvaccinated population, with nearly half (49 per cent) of the respondents blaming the unvaccinated for prolonging the pandemic – now entering its third year.

Ontario’s new reopening roadmap has no projected end for mask mandates or vaccine passports. In Alberta, Premier Jason Kenney has not said anything more specific than “soon” when asked how long he plans to keep vaccine passports and mask mandates in place. True North’s Andrew Lawton says it’s clear there’s no exit strategy for pandemic restrictions in most of Canada, which is bad news for those of us unwilling to adopt the new normal.

There’s never been any convincing evidence that wearing a loose-fitting rag over your face stops viral spread, but if that doesn’t give one pause to question the efficacy of the practice, then there’s always the incontrovertible fact that there isn’t a single place on the planet which can be pointed toward as the beacon of evidence for the efficacy of mask mandates.

The regulations state that anyone who enters a port or ferry terminal who is not a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident must attest to his or her vaccination status, provide proof of vaccination, and provide “a valid Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)-compliant document, such as a valid passport, Trusted Traveler Program card, or Enhanced Tribal Card,” along with any other documents that U.S. Customs and Border Protection requests.
This may sound reasonable and fair, but the new regulations will exacerbate the supply chain crisis that has already made American life more difficult and contributed to inflation.

“The vaccines do not protect our children from becoming infected with Omicron. They do not prevent infected children from infecting others. In contrast, the pharmaceutical companies and the government are almost fully protected from any damages these products might cause them.

Hundreds of B.C. truckers took to the road Sunday kicking off what they called a “freedom convoy” to Ottawa in protest of the federal government’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for cross-border truckers.
Scores of big rigs gathered in pre-dawn fog in Delta before rolling out, and will be joined by groups from Vancouver Island and communities in the B.C. Interior as they make their way east.
Has Justin called them White Supremacists yet?

People in Ontario haven’t repeatedly endured some of the world’s most severe and longest pandemic lockdowns because of the unvaccinated.
As of Saturday, 82.16% of the eligible population in Ontario had been fully vaccinated, slightly higher than the national average of 81.86%, and Canadians are among the most vaccinated people in the world.
The lockdowns keep happening because of the almost non-existent surge capacity of Ontario hospitals, a problem that has been known about for decades and which governments of all political stripes ignored.
