Norwegian conscripts are to return their underwear after completing military service for the next recruits, as the army struggles with dwindling supplies due to Covid.
Norway, which guards Nato’s northern borders and shares a border with Russia, calls up about 8,000 young men and women for military service every year and until recently allowed newly discharged conscripts to leave barracks with the underwear they were issued.

Provinces are likely to introduce mandatory vaccination policies in the coming months to deal with the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said today.

Ontario breaks record with 2,472 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, 338 in ICU
More than 2,400 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, marking a new record for hospitalizations throughout the pandemic.
The Ministry of Health says 2,472 patients are in Ontario hospitals with the virus, up from 2,279 yesterday and breathing the previous record of 2,360 hospitalizations on Apr. 20, 2021.

Ontario’s COVID-19 case counts are unreliable, so these metrics will tell us when Omicron wanes
As the Omicron variant sweeps through Ontario at a rate never before seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly everyone wants to know when we’ll be on the other side of this wave.
But now, restrictions to PCR testing criteria mean case numbers no longer present an accurate picture of the spread of the virus — and while case counts alone were never a perfect metric, they did provide the simplest window for people to understand what was happening in their region.
Recent data continues to show that the claim of a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” is a verifiable falsehood, Fox News host Tucker Carlson said.
“Millions of Americans who dutifully got the vaccine, good for them, are now finding out that they have the coronavirus. Millions — in New York state alone there have been half a million verified (cases),” Carlson said on his show January 4.
While plenty of countries are currently experiencing record-breaking COVID-19 cases due to Omicron, almost none are locking down quite as hard as Ontario and Quebec . There are countless examples showing how little sense the federal government has shown in its handling of the COVID pandemic over the past two years.
Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole on Thursday defended his most recent calls for the government to “accommodate” people who won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Cases of the highly contagious Omicron variant are spreading rapidly around the world, shattering case counts in Canada and straining health-care systems already struggling two years into the pandemic.
It’s not just that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talked about a group of fellow Canadians with such gross malevolence that was shocking.
He’s done this before and makes no secret of his disdain for the unvaccinated.
What was equally as shocking is opposition leaders didn’t call him out on it. This should scare those in this unfairly outcast group who feel they are being phased out as employees, citizens and people free to go into public places.
“… During Redman’s decades in the Canadian Armed Forces, he was involved in responses to disasters across the world and has seen very few best practices rolled out to deal with COVID-19. “In two years, the people that are in charge have completely shown themselves incapable of even managing their own system,” Redman contended.”
It is never right for the leader of a country to launch a furious invective against an entire subset of citizens. It is certainly never right to do so with the full force and blatant contempt that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau put on display during last fall’s election.

Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner is a fast-talking little man of notoriously intemperate disposition who will not allow any criticism of his totalitarian tendencies. Gunner has promised to be as brutal as needed to stop COVID spread in the region. He will accept no vocal dissent to his mandates from citizens in the state. All vaccine hesitant citizens are considered enemies of the state, and now subject to arrest if they voice any objection.
