China rejects report of sick staff at Wuhan lab prior to Covid outbreak

China has vehemently denied a Wall Street Journal report citing US intelligence materials that said several members of staff at a key virus laboratory in Wuhan had fallen ill shortly before the first patient with Covid-like symptoms was recorded in the city on 8 December 2019.

Foreign ministry spokesperson, Zhao Lijian, said it was “completely untrue” that three researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) became sick in autumn 2019. The report, based on “previously undisclosed” US intelligence, said the said the lab workers staff had become sick “with symptoms consistent with both Covid-19 and common seasonal illness”.

Wuhan lab staff sought hospital care before COVID-19 outbreak disclosed – WSJ

Three researchers from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) sought hospital care in November 2019, a month before China reported the first cases of COVID-19, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing a U.S. intelligence report.

The newspaper said the previously undisclosed report – which provides fresh details on the number of researchers affected, the timing of their illnesses, and their hospital visits – may add weight to calls for a broader investigation into whether the COVID-19 virus could have escaped from the laboratory.

I remember when this was “racist.”

Trump Being Harassed With Another Lawsuit, This Time Over Phrase ‘China Virus’

No U.S. political leader, and certainly no president, has been harassed and abused as much as Donald Trump.

Since before he was even elected, the powerful deep state forces and elites appeared to join forces in an attempt to keep him out of office or, if he made it the Oval, undermine and despoil him at every possible instance.

Probably the most honest president since George Washington, Trump was nevertheless impeached twice, lied about in the compliant propaganda media daily, and subjected to the worst treatment at home and abroad of any president maybe ever. Word has it King George III treated American emissaries better after he lost his colonies.

If the Lab Leak Theory Turns Out to be True, Will China be Held to Account?

The Western world will have to weigh up what the damage would be to their economies and international relations if they accept the lab leak theory. Because if we do then we will also have to accept that the CCP was involved in a cover-up which turned the contagion in Wuhan from localised outbreak to global pandemic. It would follow from this that the CCP would have to be held responsible for three and a half million deaths worldwide, an act of mass-death, albeit one caused by the ineptitude of China’s bureaucracy and the breaking of scientific safety protocols in laboratories overseen by the CCP.

The ‘Wuhan lab leak’ theory looks more credible then ever

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee just released a report citing “significant circumstantial evidence” that COVID-19 originated in a lab in Wuhan, China, and that Washington “may have funded or collaborated” in research leading to the outbreak — suspicions that in recent weeks have become pretty mainstream.

So two points: 1) Why didn’t Democrats sign on? 2) How foolish Facebook now looks for blocking The Post’s February 2020 column that first raised the Wuhan-lab-leak possibility.

Fauci’s Latest COVID-19 Flip-Flop May Be His Most Disturbing Yet

“Fauci, arguably (though not justifiably) the most trusted person when it comes to COVID-19, set the tone for how theories about COVID-19’s origins would be treated. If you suggested it came from a lab or was man-made, you were laughed off as a kook.

In retrospect, it seems like Fauci was trying to protect himself, as it turns out that his National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases may have funded “controversial ‘gain of function’ research where coronaviruses were made ‘more infectious in humans,’” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

We cannot let the WHO re-write pandemic history

The organisation’s about-turn on lockdowns has not gone unnoticed

Yesterday the WHO issued an update on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. It’s the sort of rewriting of history one would expect from an organisation which has over the past year overseen the biggest collapse in living standards for the global poor since the end of colonialism.

A New Study Confirms That Reopening Texas ‘100 Percent’ Had No Discernible Impact on COVID-19 Cases or Deaths

After Texas became the first state to eliminate both its face mask mandate and its business occupancy limits in early March, President Joe Biden said the decision reflected “Neanderthal thinking.” Gilberto Hinojosa, chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, described Gov. Greg Abbott’s order as “extraordinarily dangerous,” warning that it “will kill Texans.”

Canada is gearing up to reopen. Can it last?

Much of Canada is on the verge of reopening again, with hard-hit provinces lifting lockdowns and mapping out a path to something vaguely resembling normal, while trying desperately to avoid making the mistakes of the past.

The latest advantage we have on our side is COVID-19 vaccines — the Get Out of Jail Free card that will help parts of the country that have been reluctant to impose strict public health measures mitigate another reopening disaster.

“Vaccines are going to blunt the damage of the rush to reopen, but I’d tend to go cautiously and stepwise,” said Dr. David Fisman, an epidemiologist at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. “The single most important thing we can do right now is get people vaccinated.”

U.K. urges caution on COVID-19 variant first seen in India. Should Canadians worry?

Rising cases of the B.1.617.2 variant of the virus that causes COVID-19, first identified in India, have U.K. authorities urging caution, even as they reopen pubs and allow gatherings across the country.

There’s reason to worry about this variant in Canada, experts say, though they add that so far, it hasn’t been proven to get past our vaccines.

‘Black fungus’ disease linked to Covid spreads across India

States across India have begun declaring a “black fungus” epidemic as cases of the fatal rare infection shoot up in patients recovering from Covid-19.

The fungal disease, called mucormycosis, has a 50% mortality rate. It affects patients initially in the nose but the fungus can then spread into the brain, and can often only be treated by major surgery removing the eye or part of skull and jaw.
