Suspect New Studies Point to the Wuhan Market, Not Lab, As Origin Point for Pandemic

Two new studies released on Saturday point to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan, China as the origin location of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus responsible for the worldwide pandemic that has killed nearly 6 million.

…When was the last time the New York Times or any media outlet of note published a non-peer-reviewed study before it appeared in a scientific journal?

Very curious.

Nearly 40 Trucking Businesses Involved in Canada’s Freedom Convoy Protests Have Been Shut Down

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) confirmed that it shut down nearly 40 businesses during its crackdown on Freedom Convoy protesters opposing COVID-19 mandates and restrictions.

In an email to Global News on Feb. 23, Dakota Brasier, a spokesperson for Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney, said the ministry had issued 12 seizure orders to Ontario-based large truck operators which suspended them from being allowed to operate within Canada.

The ministry also issued an order to seize all plates registered to them, Brasier said.

Ontario reports less than 1,100 COVID-19 hospitalizations for third straight day

Ontario reported 34 more COVID-19 related deaths and less than 1,100 people hospitalized with the virus for a third straight day on Saturday.

The Ministry of Health says 31 of the deaths occurred in the past month and three additional deaths were added to the cumulative death total.

There have been 12,420 virus-related deaths since March 2020.

Masks still a ‘fundamental layer of protection,’ Canada’s top doctor says

“Whether your jurisdiction requires it or not or whether your setting requires it or not, it’s something you can do to protect yourself and others,” Dr. Theresa Tam, the country’s chief public health officer, said during a press conference Friday.

Provinces nationwide, including Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, have begun lifting pandemic restrictions, with the latter removing mask mandates as of March 15.

I believe nothing Tam says, she has been wrong or simply lied from day one.

Allergic to the ‘So-Called Freedom Convoy’ in Canada

Something caught my ear in the car, listening to a radio simulcast of the February 21 PBS NewsHour. Anchor Judy Woodruff drily reported that “Canadian police have arrested more than 190 protesters and issued 389 charges in connection with the so-called Freedom Convoy.”

The “so-called Freedom Convoy.” It’s a journalistic term that can be employed as distancing themselves from something that’s not true. After 9/11, we heard about the “so-called War on Terror.” Democrats hated that term. Dan Rather used to get out the ten-foot pole and report on “the Republican political lobbying group that calls itself, quote, the ‘Christian Coalition.’” This could be described as “so-called journalism.”

Why we’re still suing the Trudeau government over its use of the Emergencies Act

The federal cabinet has revoked the proclamation of a public order emergency, as Justin Trudeau announced on Wednesday. But the prime minister will still need to answer in court for his illegal and unconstitutional decision to invoke the Emergencies Act.

On Feb. 23, the Canadian Constitution Foundation filed an urgent application for judicial review of the government’s decision to invoke this extraordinary piece of legislation. This application will still proceed because it is imperative this legislation receive scrutiny the first time it is used, especially when the circumstances of its use are so questionable.

Teacher Who Said Conservative Christians “Need to Get COVID and Die” Has Resigned

The COVID debate has brought out the worst in some people and attacks on pro-life Christians have unfortunately been part of the intense debate — in part because some Christian refuse to get the COVID vaccines because they are connected with abortion.

Recently, Colleyville Middle School teacher identified by school parents as Lisa Grimes was captured on camera saying that political opposition to the COVID vaccine prolonged the pandemic. the Texas teacher said “those conservative Christians … they need to die …. they need to get COVID and die.”

Ontario’s mask mandate could be lifted ‘simultaneously’ across most areas, including in schools: official

Ontario’s top public health official says that he anticipates that the mask mandate will be lifted “simultaneously” across most sectors when it is safe to do so, rather than on a piecemeal basis.

Quebec has announced a plan to lift the mask mandate in elementary and secondary school classrooms by March 14 en route to eventually scrapping it for other indoor public settings as well.

Trudeau hammered over why he invoked Emergencies Act in first place

With Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revoking the Emergencies Act two days after he insisted on keeping it, some politicians are asking what exactly was going on in his head and behind the scenes.

Conservative interim leader Candice Bergen said the decision proves that Trudeau knew all along that it was wrong to implement the never-before-used legislation.

“Trudeau introduced it in the first place for his personal political gain,” said Bergen in a statement on Wednesday. “He revoked it now for the very same reason.”

Reality Honks Back

The Canadian trucker convoy suggests a new class divide originating in our experience of reality itself.

The world is watching what’s happening in Canada with a mixture of fascination and horror. The weeks-long saga of the “Freedom Convoy” protest against pandemic restrictions, spearheaded by Canadian truckers, has taken an authoritarian turn. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked emergency powers to crush the peaceful protest, suspending civil liberties protections, arresting hundreds, and taking the unprecedented step of ordering dissident citizens entirely frozen out of the financial system. What brought Canada’s normally placid politics to this point?
