MPs choose not to condemn church fires

A call to condemn the most recent arson attack on a Christian church — Feb. 9 at Blessed Sacrament Church in downtown Regina — failed to gain unanimous approval in the House of Commons.

On Feb. 12, Conservative MP Corey Tochor called for unanimous consent to condemn the arson at Blessed Sacrament. Members of the Liberal-NDP governing coalition responded with “no.” Speaker of the House of Commons Greg Fergus quickly stated, “there is no unanimous consent.”

The Brothers of Italy (FdI), the party led by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, has introduced a bill that would ban any school from cancelling Christian celebrations at Christmas or Easter, infuriating the Italian Left.

The bill was presented to the Italian Senate this week just days before Christmas and declares that “it will no longer be possible to cancel the nativity scene, Christmas, and Easter within Italian schools of all levels,” the newspaper Il Giornale reports.

John Robson: Christians are being persecuted worldwide. Why no liberal outcry?

If you’re into Bible verses at Christmas, unlike the craft store clerk who didn’t know what a “nativity scene” was even after I mentioned wise men, Mary, Joseph and the “Christ child,” I suggest Matthew 5:11. Which, for her and her millennial ilk, says “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.” So there’s a lot of blessing worldwide.

‘War on Christmas’: Movement to Cancel Holiday in Canada Seen Before in Communist Regimes

The Canadian Human Rights Commission said in a recent report that having statutory holidays for Christian celebrations such as Christmas is “a form of discrimination … deeply rooted in our identity as a settler colonial state.”

It’s the latest shot across the bow in what’s often called a “war on Christmas,” primarily driven by those seeking to secularize public life, says Christmas expert and historian Gerry Bowler of the Frontier Centre for Public Policy.

Conservative MP introduces bill to declare December ‘Christian Heritage Month’

A Conservative member of Parliament is introducing a private member’s bill that would designate December as “Christian Heritage Month.”

Marilyn Gladu, the MP for the Ontario riding of Sarnia–Lambton, introduced Bill C-369, the Christian Heritage Month Act, to the House of Commons on Tuesday.

The bill lands as the Conservatives press a petition campaign against a Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) paper that described statutory holidays marking Christian religious dates as discriminatory.

The CBC is happy to report the bill does not stand a snowball’s chance in Hell of passing.

Finnish Politician Cleared of Hate Speech Charges for Second Time

“It isn’t a crime to tweet a Bible verse, or to engage in public discourse with a Christian perspective. The attempts made to prosecute me for expressing my beliefs have resulted in an immensely trying four years, but my hope is that the result will stand as a key precedent to protect the human right to free speech. I sincerely hope other innocent people will be spared the same ordeal for simply voicing their convictions,” added Räsänen, the former Finnish Interior Minister and grandmother of eleven.

John Robson: Intolerance Is the New Inclusion as We Forsake Our Heritage of Liberty

To the slogans “War is peace,” “Freedom is slavery,” and “Ignorance is strength,” one could now add “Hate is love” judging by how often social justice seems to be delivered via the policeman’s truncheon. Even in famously polite Canada.

Also “Censorship is free speech” and “Dissent is treason,” because a Christian group had to sue after its event permit was cancelled in Quebec City this summer because it was suspected of Thoughtcrime. And because of the brazenness of the rationale.

What My Family’s Bloody History In The Spanish Civil War Teaches About The FBI’s Assault On Catholics

It’s time to revisit the Spanish Civil War — a bloody three-year conflict spanning from 1936 to 1939 in which communists massacred Catholics because the church’s doctrine and its head, Jesus Christ, stood in opposition to their ideology and authority.

Many Americans have never heard of the Spanish Civil War because it’s often ignored by the history books or overshadowed by World War II, but its history is important given the context of our government’s current demonization and targeting of Catholics.

On Tuesday, the judge said the airline “didn’t come close” to complying with the ruling at the time.

Southwest said it would appeal the latest order.

Paraded Naked and Gang-Raped: The Persecution of Christians in India

“The viral video captures the harrowing ordeal endured by two Christian women from Manipur. On May 4, 2023, the women were paraded naked while a mob of men molested and beat them mercilessly. To add to the horror, four police officers reportedly stood by and watched as the frenzied attack unfolded, making no attempt to intervene.
